This message contains language, violence, nudity? but it is "la gioconda", compleat with craquelure.

Hehe. That was just to create some interest.
Of course there's none of the above.
The point of interest here's the way the head was rotated.

But, pray to answer, what or who is a craquelure?

It's a technique often created using a filter....it makes the image look like it has cracked old paint.

Thanks. With M. Lisa that's not a problem, it is cracked allright:-)

To expand upon Acadia's definition:

Craquelure is not traditionally a technique, but a fine cracking of paint generally resulting from age.

The 'look' of craquelure is now emulated through Photoshop/Paintshop Pro (etc) filters.

Regardless, this looks really cool Laslo. Colour me impressed.

How about seeing the resulting mesh/texture from more angles, without the background perhaps. Not to justify your point...just 'cause it'd be cool! :)

If we can hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominos will fall like a house of cards...checkmate!

Please don't use the content advisory tags flippantly. They are there for a reason, and that reason becomes meaningless if you use them to "generate interest". This could also be construed as spam.

Thanks.

That is rather annoying from a user standpoint (thanks Karen).

I'd have to agree on this one. Can't say that's a terribly respectable habit to get into...
Why exactly would you feel the "NEED" to apply advisory tags just to generate interest?

As ClawShrimp alluded to above, The image itself certainly begs of a zillion questions! ...

  • What all did you do to achieve the end result?
  • Did you do this entirely in Poser?
  • What base figure did you use to morph into Mona? or did you model her yourself?
  • What modeling software did you use?
  • What, if any, post process work did you do?
  • ???

The list could go on and on... In short, don't just post an image, Tell us "How You Did It." - THAT'S how you generate interest..

I suspect that all it is : Some sort of new FilterProcess that allows one to Rotate a Photo on the Y Axis. You can easily Mirror an image with PS, PSP, Gimp etc. the trick is the partial rotation on the Y axis.
FaceGen, I think it is has a built in that Rotates a pic on the Y axis to get it as close as possible to Bang on Dead Ahead.

I agree with everyone else here.
If you want to post this, please use it as an Informational Post and tells us what you used and have accomplished.

Is there a "Commercial Tag"??
I suspect that is what it should have had.

OK, I admit I was just messing with everyone.
The image was created with a new software (it is a FaceShop filter for Photoshop) and I am gearing up to get beta testers for the new product.
Maybe I will post it on the Photoshop forum instead.
Pls. excuse me, I was just getting excited about this new product:-)

Yeah - I was thinking it had to be image manipulation.

Looks to be a pretty cool filter, but yep, the PS forum would prolly have been more appropriate.  😉

Actually, it is NOT image manipulation, this is the great thing about it!!!

It is a full-blown 3D FaceShop that rotates the head around in any angle, but deposits the resulting image straight back into Photoshop.
Believe me, if this was just a pixel-pushing filter, I would not be this excited...

It doesn't appear to rotate the hair. the nose has become wider and more bulbous than in the original model, and that is not a natural result of real rotation. hence I daresay more work may be needed on the beta, or at least in the presentation of the results, to make it seem more effective than it actually appears to be.

commercial posts should go in product showcase or developers forum, i believe.    just an fyi....

AbaloneLLC ( ) posted Fri, 15 June 2007 at 12:20 PM

How is this commercial, por favor?

Khai ( ) posted Fri, 15 June 2007 at 12:33 PM

you charging for it? if so, it's Commercial.

if it's free then it's not Commercial.

Actually, I'm glad that this was posted here.  If it had been posted in the PS forum, then I probably wouldn't have noticed it for awhile.  Now I know about it.

Ya know......I don't really understand why people are always so determined to attack EVERY new piece of software / new character-figure / new product that comes along in this game.  I've yet to see anything be released that didn't get promptly pounced on in the forums.  Regardless of whether it comes from DAZ, e frontier, Rendo, or your Aunt Sally.

Even if for absolutely nothing else -- I gotta give Laslo credit for his willingness to come in here & take the heat.  He even manages to keep a sense of humor along the way.  Not many people can do that.

Most 'professionals' deal with this type of thing via silence.........which isn't always a bad strategy.  But Laslo keeps plugging away.  I thiink that he deserves a certain amount of recognition for that.

BTW - a word of friendly advice -- and please understand that it's intended in that spirit -- I really do recommend following Karen's advice vis-a-vis use of the forum tags.  😉  She's just doing her job -- and very well, too.
