Just for you Vince!
Gotta love the second pic!

Charlize is a stunner & I actually prefer her with the dark hair as she was in Aeon Flux.

Yeah, my sig is is kind of like from 'The Ring'. Really good film that was, scared the $h!t out of me when the girl came out of the tv!

vince3 ( ) posted Wed, 02 April 2008 at 8:51 PM

cheers for that mate!! from that first pic she really does look like she could be made with V4, i might have to dedi a bit of time to tryin' it meself.

as for the second picture, how did you get hold of that,

....that was taken during our first date together, she had heard the rumours about me apparentely, and presumed that she would be able to see the end of me winki bits poppin' out if she looked down at the bottom of me trousers, the only trouble with that is that shortly after she assumed that position the end was to be found up by the collar of me shirt.

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Wed, 02 April 2008 at 9:14 PM

Maybe Blackhearted will make us Charlize face and texture for GND4...
If there's no hair like that out there, I could probably make it....

I'm already in the process of creating Charlize, it's not going too well at the moment though. Hope you can do a good 'un.

About your date with her, I totally understand!!!

stormchaser ( ) posted Wed, 02 April 2008 at 9:18 PM

Connie, I was going through my runtime to find a hair similar, but there isn't one close enough.
Do you really think you could do it!

I've been working on some wrinkles... This is a pic with wrinkles, I'll follow it with a pic without wrinkles, so it's easier to notice and compare.  You'll have to click on the pic and see closeup to see them better. Of course, in poser you'll be able to dial them up stronger, but with morps you don't always wanna model in the strongest setting.

i know!! us "more than enough downstairs" types have it hard ( no pun here though ok ) no-one ever understands how hard it can be ( still no pun ok ) the other day whilst on another date with chalize, i couldn't help but keep looking at the crinkly folds on her outfit as she walked along (right by the top of her thighs wink)

anyway by the time we got to our bus stop, and got on the bus, there it was again!! she came up with the idea to just put my baseball cap on him, and pretend he was my siamese twin, great idea except i ended up having to pay double for me twin brother!!! the bus journey didn't help either (speed bumps) and it wasn't long before some old lady was enquiring whether my "brother" was ok, as she thought he looked quite hot and flustered, but didn't want to open the window for him as i looked so pale!!!

stormchaser ( ) posted Wed, 02 April 2008 at 9:49 PM · edited Wed, 02 April 2008 at 9:50 PM

Yes Connie, spot on!!
The back of the knees, top of the thighs & under her backside is just what i was hoping for. I tell you what, the wrinkles to the side of the laces on her back is a work of art! Subtle, yet very effective.

vince3 ( ) posted Wed, 02 April 2008 at 9:50 PM · edited Wed, 02 April 2008 at 9:50 PM

looking good connie those wrinkles on the drawstring bits of the corset part are definately looking better to me,nice one!!

don't know if you can do it or not (how easy it would be or not) but if those trousers are to be leather like, there is always one predominant wrinkle that goes up and down like a see-saw, across the peak of the butt cheeks, it is staring at that dancin' about on the girl walkin' in front that gets us guys a slap from our girlfriends!!

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Wed, 02 April 2008 at 10:18 PM

The winkle, ay?      ryyyyght!
Yea, I'll add more. I'm hoping some interesting larger wrinkles will come out of a clothing sim...

Wooopdate!!! I spent most of the day today running cloth simulations to analyze various wrinkles, and maybe get some OBJ's that can be turned into morphs. Probably not very many due to all the piping detail. Wrinkles look interesting, but piping gets too distorted, so I'll sculpt any wrinkles I like by hand. Here's a screenshot of one of the things that came out of the cloth sims.

Slightly differnt cloth sim result, OBJ export out of max, import into hex, do some smooting, then to Poser to see how Poser smoothing affects the wrinkles... before I crate a lot of morphs. There's no way to straighten the leg and use this mesh as a morph for wrinkles only, but it can come in very handy as a reference for bends and folds.

Other then brand spanking new clean look, I like clothes with wrinkles and wear and tear... Makes thins more interesting.

Joe-B-Wan ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2008 at 1:26 AM

They do look very good.

I wish I had the time to explore C6 and Hex and Zbrush enough to get those results. As it is, I've been working on a project for about 3 months, but I haven't done anything with it for about three weeks now. What I have looks pretty good, but it's only about 1/5 of the way complete in the modeling stage. After that, I get to learn how to rig the bloody thing. Lucy for me, it's a mechanical figure with only a little bit of flexing parts.

Now let's hope I can model them on a zero posed figure, and still have them look good when they bend!

When I look at the before & after wrinkles work there's no doubt you're going down the right route here.

Sooo... here's a screenshot of HAND SCULPTED wrinkles on a zero figure, after  Ianalyzed what came out of cloth sims.  Theese are just around the waist and hips. I'll make knee wrinkles a separate morph. I'll probably end up with 4-5 different folds and wrinkles morphs.

When I mentioned the creases at the top of the thighs this is exactly what I had in mind, brilliant Connie!
The way I see it, you can have those wrinkles & creases in the texture but it'll never look as good as having them actually on the model. When I move the lights around I know I can get the right light/shadow effect I'm after.

stormchaser ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2008 at 1:17 PM

How do you sculpt the wrinkles Connie, do you do this in Hex or Max?

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2008 at 1:22 PM

Something else that can be done is use a combo. I lile to do morphs for bigger folds, especially those that may need what is in lost wax sculpting known as undercuts. Folds in undercuts cant be achieved with displacement maps (Not grayscales anyway. Possibly with normal maps)
Then I would use displacement maps for medium wrinkles and perhaps ornamentation... Like a sewn on Patch or finer definition.
Then the last layer is bumpmapping, for really fine textures.  Sometimes there isn't a really fine line between morphs, displacements and bumpmaps. There is some overlap in their functionality.  Every model has all three....

I've been doing it in Hex, using the push/pull, inflate, displace and soften tools.  Similar thing can be done in Zbrush too, actually even better then in hex. It can be done in Max too. But at the moment I don't feel like switching applications. Hex will do just fine for this.

I'm off out now Connie, but I've got a render going. All being well I'll post it here when I get back. It'll be the first of GND4 in the outfit!
That's if I'm able to stand up!

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2008 at 1:35 PM

Well... I like that kind of a detail... If I'm going to make a product catering to closeup renders, I think that kind of a detail will make it more special. And those whom don't care for it can simply just leave it off.
I also think detal which is there, but isn't austentatously conspicuous, instead just illustrating what's supposed to be there makes a picture richer and more interesting looking.

No, it was 7-30 in the evening then. It's gone 2-30 in the morning now. Alcohol & tiredness has taking over, but my render was done when I got back so here it is.

This is GND4 in Connie's amazing outfit!
The scaling is a little off on a couple of things but that won't matter for now. I made a simple mat for the whole thing & I've given the hair a quick work on, I'll do a better job when I can focus!

Except the little bitty detail on the shoulder where polygons aren't smoothing 100% right.

I wish it was all done and rigged already, I keep wanting to pose her

Also, I need to make that boob squishuppage morph, I think it'll start at the top of zigzag, and bulge up thought the upper black part :D

Thanks for that render Stormy. There's no question that this is gonna be one the most used outfit for GND4 in my runtime! It's really nice to see just how brilliantly those boots go with the outfit too.

I don't think those wrinkles could look any better Connie. I think I just need to see them on a dark material, to really see the contrast. One thing is for sure, in closeup renders this outfit will be a dream.

Joe-B-Wan - Yeah, helping with the boob squishuppage. It's a dirty job but someone's gotta do it! :thumbupboth:

oro_snake - The hair I used was the Anime Hair from Bobbie25 & SWAM. I morphed it to look more appropriate plus I changed it a bit in postwork. It's the closest hair I had in my runtime.

Vince - Just wait until Connie's put the morphs in so we can do some posing with it! :woot:

May I suggest a roll-up rubber keyboard? You can just hose off all the drool!

I keep hearing that Poser Pro will have Normal support, but I can;t say that I followed what they are announcing very closely.

In the past, I've plugged normal maps into a bump or displacement channel, sometimes you get results as if you plugged in a grayscale bump map, sometimes you don't. Then again, not all normal maps are created equal. Sometimes normal maps represent just the angle of the face, other times they include surface height information. (To put it in a somewhat simplistic way)

I know you've probably mentioned it before but I've forgotten, are the boots serperate figures, you know left & right? It's just that with the wrinkles & bulges, I suppose you can have more of the morph dialled in for one of the boots than the other if that particular leg was in more of an extreme pose.
Just a thought.

Why did you have to tell me about the GND bikini. That wasn't fair, LOL!
