Hi Michael, is the boat from the free stuff area here at R'osity? If I recall right, the items posted from "Lanover" are in v.2 format and there is a ship among them. Another place to check for items is at the old Vue d'Esprit Users Group website at the URL above. The Users Group doesn't exist anymore, but last I checked the website still works, and there are many items there that will work with v.2. :)Attached Link: http://start.at/arte
At my place you also can find some models working with Vue 2.1. Some were even created with Vue 2.1 All objects, atmospheres... at Nono's Land also are especially for Vue 2.1 http://www.multimania.com/adosnon/GB-echange.htm :-)GuittaI have this problem with all the objects I d/led from here. That and I can not import objs because it isn't even an option,if I try it tells me its the wrong format... I'm using the Vue2 that came in my 3d World Mag. I'm so far disappointed, not in the quality of teh images but because I've had no luck adding additional objects to my images. I don't want to upgrade it until I know that I want to keep it...

Dear, you must know that Vue 2.1 only can import *.vob (the Vue d'Esprit objects) *.dxf *.obj (wavefront object only) *.raw If you want to use a 3Ds or any other 3D object, you first have to convert it into one of the above files. 3Dexploration does so. The address at NONO's LAND I gave you before only offers *.vob objects. Vob you even don't need to import, just open it in Vue. If this information doesn't help you and you always have problems in importing objects, then please tell us exactly step by step what you are doing to get an error message. good look ! :-)Guitta
hmmm... I don't mean to hijack hostile's thread here, but when I want to import, the only options I have are vob, dxf and raw no obj at all. I saved my poser image as dxf but so far no luck importing it, it simply stops when it's almost done, I may no9t have enough memory... ~sigh~

Yes, that sounds like it could be low memory. Also, be sure to check that you have the patch to 2.1, because that will be a lot more stable than v.2 and might solve the import problem. Or, with Poser figures, be sure to export each separate model (figure, shirt, pants, shoes, hair) individually, then import them one at a time. If you've UNchecked the "resize and center" option (in Options/Preferences), each item will import right into position relative to each other (the hair will be on the head, for instance) but the file sizes of the DXF will be much lower and more likely to import okay.
Ahhh.. I don't have the patch and I didn't know about exporting each on it's own. She's not wearing clothes, but she is wearing dreds and they are high count.... To import just one item I simply select that right? Ok, I'm off to get the patch...

Yep, get the patch first. :) In Poser, select Export > DXF and that should be followed by a dialogue asking you which items you want included. Uncheck everything except the hair, and you'll be exporting only the hair. After that, uncheck the hair but check everything else and you'll be exporting just the figure. Also, these models will export without textures, so be aware of the location of your textures, and you'll be able to apply them once the model is imported into Vue. Many folks here have a lot of experience getting the textures applied and will be happy to help if you run into any problems with that part. :)
Poser's DXF export actually works? That kinda surprises me, because evn their 3DS format is kinda screwy, and I thought everyone knew how to make a good 3DS export... Another thing Lady (don't mean to sound rude, LOL!) is that you will be doing much better to get the patch, install it, and and from then on use Poser's .OBJ format, since it will also have a .mtl material file created at the same time which will tell Vue what materials, textures to apply on import. You will need to have your textures in the same folder as the folder that your .OBJ is exported to. You can make a temp folder and copy the textures used to there for this, or you can not worry about it and apply them in Vue after import, but whenever you manually apply a texture to a Poser figure, you mustchange the Y scale to -1.000. As for other file formats, I can assure you that Vue 3 has no trouble at all, and even some of the most complex 3D Studio Max models will load into Vue (as .3DS) with everything perfect, including transparencies. In other words, do not fear upgrading because Vue 3.1's object import is nearly perfect and with Vue 3 you also get LWO 5.6 format and Vue 4 will add .COB format and probably LWO 6.0 (6.5?), as well as Poser PZ3 format. In just a little bit I'll post an example of a very complex and utterly perfect 3DS model rendered in Vue 3.1 :)
Mike you're right in speaking about Vue 3, 3.1..., but Vue 2.1 cannot import 3Ds files. You said :"You will need to have your textures in the same folder as the folder that your .OBJ is exported to." That's NOT exact ! You can open your material(speak Poser textures for a figure) from wherever it is on your hard drive(s) (mostly in the Poser directory) from Vue's screen.. Applying manually materials to Poser figures is a big mess. Don't do it if not abolutely necessary for special reasons. There are other things more important to say : Separate hair from your figure before you export it in *.obj format for Vue. Hair is a prop and should not belong to any parent (head)in export. LadySilverMage, if you need help for this special Poser-hair-or-prop-export-to-Vue thing for a figure, tell us, we will give it to you. But maybe you know it already ? Guitta
Guitta, in Vue 3.1 I've never been presented with the option to browse for a missing texture that the .mtl file was missing. Just like pressing the "cancel" button seems to have no effect. I hadn't mentioned 3DS until I began mentioning Vue 3.1, and I know that Vue 2.1's only options are dxf and obj. But I'm wondering why you disagree with exporting props with the figure? Usually I do export them separately, just so to have them as separate objects (which I promptly group together in Vue anyway), but there is no harm in having them within the figure hierarchy as far as I've been able to tell, except for the sake of keeping track of "body" parts, which can become a confusing thing.

Hi, I've just started using Vue and decided to use one of the free models from the download area (the boat model). After downloading the model and unzipping it into my Vue directory i tried loading the model but it comes up with an error. My question is, into which directory do i unzip the model so that i can load the model into my vue scene. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
