The best way is to render as a series of images just set the save path in the dialogue and name the picture "myimage_.png" , the underscore shows D|S where to put the number.
Use www.virtualdub.org/ to load the images and save it from there as avi. This way you may delete or add images, or via batch actions apply filters.
Depends on your render settings!
When I do a still render with all bells and whistles, rendertime may go up to 30 hours, Iwould never do that in an animation!
When I do an animation in D|S, the rendertime is between 2 to 5 minutes per frame, so depending an the animationlength, that may take a night.
When you do a still, it easy to see where your lightning is bad, in animation a lot of things are just not seen because of the action, but in any case you need to set up a convincing lightning, instead of 20 spot and pointlight plus some distant lights, you use one spot with raytraced shadows, maybe a point and a distantlight, keep the number of "shadow-lights" as low as possible and prefer raytraced shadows to shadow maps.
To create an aniblock you don't need any lights or shadows !!!
Just V4 for example with different poses to "puppeteer" !
When you want to save your real animation using an aniblock on any character in a scene here you need lights (and shadows)...
It's true ! Depending on your aim : Render can be very long or not !
Create an aniblock and render a scene (picture or animation) are two different things.
Always make export tests with a small resolution 320 x 240 for example and just a few frames of the whole animation by taping 0 to 5 frames for example for the render !
You don't have to export the whole animation at the beginning...
If the first tests are Ok for you then you can export all ! And you can do something else during the calculation... :o)
A serie of images or an .avi file is the same (I think ?) relative to the duration... because Daz calculates and renders each frame in both cases.

Here is my first quick test of a small aniblock I created : A torkeeper !
Very easy to do in Daz with aniMate :
1- I insert V4.
2- With Puppeteer, I give her the first and the final pose. I record the whole animation.
3- I save with the aniTimeline "create aniblock from DS keyframes".
4- Then... New -> I insert another character and objects.
5- I select the character and drag and drop MY "torkeeper" aniblock.
6- I export as .avi file ! Finished !!!
