"What 3D Program Should I buy?" Not one person here can really tell you what's best for you, as everyone has their own taste in workflow. Try the demo or learning edition of the program you're interested in, this is the only way to find out which programs you like.
Your projection mapping is along the X-axis instead of the Z-axis maybe? It doesn't look like any UV mapping was done.

that looks like you were doing that for aiko3 if you go to the product page at daz at the bottom there is a template file download or you could see if snowsultan has aiko seem guides here in his freestuff that should help you out a bit more. cause from the size and position of your texture it looks like you don't have the full template saved for your texture.
You dont need all of the materials on one image , but what you do have must be lined up with the template and the same overall size.
Textures should go in the runtime/textures folder anywhere you want them. I made a folder for my textures so mine reads runtime/textures/markr/v4bodysuit etc.
you might want your texture in the same folder as the vendors texture though, that works too.
What above post said. To reiterate, the images used in UV maps are "stretched to fit" in a way. That is, they should maintain the same aspect ratio as the original template. So by chopping off the half with the "extraneous" bits, the image gets stretched to take up the same amount of space. And when it does that, whatever you painted is no longer on-template. Thus wierdness happens.

Hi All. I was following a tut... to the letter... to make an outfit with the body... But when I tried the surface selections, they did NOT go on as I had made it. this is what it's SUPPOSED to be:
Here's what I got. WHAT HAPPENED?
