A check mark on the menu next to an item indicates that:
... an option is selected, e.g., "Skip Frames"
- or -
... tools are visible, e.g., "Camera Controls"
- or -
... a window is open, e.g., "Libraries"
A small arrowhead to the right of an item indicates that there is a "submenu."
Let's visit the other "Rooms" in the Poser7 house. . ... Next ...

We don't have time right now to go into detail because each room really deserves a class by itself.
Hmmm, that sounds just like da NaySayGuy ... in a class by himself.
Let's vist the "Tools" shed, shall we? ... Next ...

~ The Main Camera ~
The Main Camera rotates around the center of the Poser studio ...
... unless we change a camera's DollyX, Y, or Z parameter.
Note - The Aux Camera is like a secondary Main Camera.
~ Orthographic Cameras ~
There are 6 orthographic cameras, e.g., Top, Front, Left, Right, Back, Bottom.
"Ortho" means straight and ...
"graphic" means visual presentation or picture so ...
... the Orthograpic Cameras give us a straight view with only two dimensions (2D).
The Orthograpic Cameras show no depth, i.e., no Z Axis.
Note - Everything in the Document Window will appear the same size regardless of it's distance from the camera.
~ The Face and Hand Cameras ~
The Face and Hand Cameras rotate around the Face and Hands, respectively.
~ The Posing Camera ~
The Posing Camera rotates around the center of the figure.
~ The Dolly Camera ~
The Dolly Camera is the only camera that rotates around itself.
It works just like a real Hollywood camera.
Practice using the different cameras to learn their features.
~ The Flyaround View ~
While this is not really a camera, per se, it can be used to very quickly see everything that is loaded in the studio. Click the Icon to start the View then move the mouse to change the view. Exit the Flyaround View by clicking outside the Document Window.
Now ...
Let's see if we can shed a little light on Poser's "Lights" ... Next ...

Try starting with one light by deleting 2 of the original Infinite lights.
Now, practice changing the direction, color and other properties and see what happens.
Change it to a Spotlight and try changing the parameters.
Dots are Poser's quick save mini-memory banks where we can save:

These are really going to even help me. I had a person on line help me when I first started in Poser, but hitting the basics is really great: So many times when I have looked at a tut, wanting to do, be it in Poser/Bryce. There would be few if any screen shots what so ever. So I would go on looking for another.
It's just one click away. ............ What could be easier? -
If you save your original Screen UI as Dot #1 then if (when) something gets messed up ... :scared:
(and it always does, right?)
... like one of the Tool sets gets lost offscreen ... or whatever ... :cursing: ___ RAZENFRATS ! ! ! !
Just click Dot #1 and ......... all fixed! ___ YEAH!
What are the "Document ...", "Figure...", and "Element..." Display Styles? ... Next ...

How might you use each one? ___ HUH?
Load a figure and a couple of props and then change the Element, Figure, and Display Document Styles and see what happens.
What happens when you render the image that has the different styles?
Let's look through, er, I mean at the Document Window, where everytrhing happens ! ... Next ...

The Document Window has many functions connected to it. Learn 'em one at a time.
Try using the Full Screen mode and see how many functions are still available.
Full Screen Mode ? ... You might want to close the Properties Window and the Library.

Hi there Dr. Geep
I would like to thank you for all you have done for me. I appreciate what you are doing for me. I am new at this and you may see me very often, too. I am having troubles getting poser to work for me in the workspace. I am pulling each strand of hair and I am ready to give up on this. Sonja, from Crystal Palace keeps me on my toes but, I am trying to stay above water. I really do need the help. I see you have posted some information up and I appreciate what you are doing for us. I hope I do understand and get this off the ground..............lol!!! I hope to understand what and how to get Poser to work. Lets see how this works and I will be back. Thank you, so, very much and please have a great week..............You will be hearing from me...........Love and Hugs..............Camille Barnes
@ Camille,
Welcome to the Wacky World we affectionately call Poser. It can be very frustrating but, also, very rewarding. You might be surprised at what you can create with it. Please don't hesitate to ask questions either here (in this thread) or using site mail (here at Renderosity) or you may email me at ---> geep @ cableone . net <----- (type this email address with NO spaces)

Quote - Good luck with your posering and best wishes, Camille.
Dr Geep, I have a question for you ..... regarding the "display as ordered list" feature. I clicked this and it re-ordered everything for sure, but into some random mess. What order is it supposed to be in ?
Sorry, I don't know. I have looked at the .cr2 file and can not see any correlation to the order of the ordered list.
Anyone? ..... Anyone? ..... Anyone? .....Bueller? .....Bueller? .... Anyone? ..... Anyone? .....
Can't win 'em all. ... Maybe it has something to do with the hexadecimal sum of the characters in the name of the parameters spelled backwards combined with the current temperature (centigrade) exactly at the North Pole at precisely 1 minute after midnight ... what time zone is that in anyway, huh, huh, huh . ... or maybe something else?
Anyhow, if you UNcheck the "ordered list" thingie, the parameters seem to get back into their original order with Groups and Subgroups intact.
BTW - Did you know that:
You can select more than one parameter at a time if you hold down the SHIFT key when you click on the parameters? Now, I don't know what you do with that info but I'm sure someone will volunteer to unmask that mystery.
??? ......... Maybe delete a group of morphs at the same time ???
cheers,
dr geep

The North (and South) poles officially use Coordinated Universal Time (What used to be, and often still is, unofficially, called Greenwich Mean Time). Non-military types who work in or near those areas often use the time zone nearest to where the are, or as agreed upon with their co-workers. The Amundson-Scott station (a scientific research center, mostly) in Antartica not all that far from the pole (well, closer than I am right now...) uses the same time zone as Christchurch, New Zealand.
And now, back to the Poser goodies...
He is always available for any question you might have.
Let's see what he has for us ... ___ Uh, ok, I'll try.

Attached Link: "Posing Hands" tutorial compliments of Dr Geep Studios
*(click image to view full size) (click the link above the image to view the tutorial)*Hi justme1212,
Good question. Here's a suggestion that may help.
Try using the Orthographic cameras, e.g., Front, Back, Left, Right, Top, Bottom.
First use the Front Camera: - Change xTran to move the object right (+) or left (-)
Next, use the Top Camera:
Now use the Main Camera and rotate around the object to make sure the position is correct.
Also, check out the tutorial on "Posing Hands."
It may have something that might help you.
