by the way: What to do with those eyes? As you may see they are almost black (no, I did not use the shader here as I was unsure and the diffuse channel of the cornea already holds a material system).

SaintFox - would you care to let me have a copy of your texture files as is right now? I won't do anything with them - just want to try a couple renders myself to see if we're seeing the same things. I don't mind if there are seams - and I won't send it to anybody.

Of course you can have them! I will upload them and drop you a line. As said: I want to make them available to all developers when they are ready and everybody is very welcome to create his own sets from them. As I am of the opinion that there is no "only saving truth" in 3d I think it can be very exciting to see what different shader systems, light and so on do with it!
Allow about 15 minutes to set everything up for download please!

As for the eyes: the shaders supplied with the preview package should do the right thing. They are from BB's latest available VSS version like the rest of Antonia's shaders. Just replace the texture maps and maybe adjust the intensities in the "Diffuse" nodes (not in the main nodes) until the brightness looks right. I'm at work right now, so I can't check the shaders or give more detailed instructions. Obviously, the cornea needs to be transparent and untextured no matter what else you do (unless you want to simulate contact lenses).

Here I made the Tint much more neutral, so we can see the natural color of this texture set. It's very pale. That's a good thing - it means it is easy to adjust to be any color we want using VSS parameters.
But people who are not using VSS may find it a bit washed out. It's almost gray and very bright. Which is why, SaintFox, you were getting that over-exposed look. It's a very light color.
I really like it this way, though. I can do a lot with this.

I like it as well!! She definitly is far closer to a real human being now.
Now is there a way to keep the basic tones a bit more (as far as desired!) - I decided for this skin as I liked the mix of pale and tanned parts and the obvious blood circulation it would be interesting for me to see if the overall tan can be reduced.
At the moment I am trying out the "vss-shaded" set that came with Antonia with my texture and I think I stumbled over one single thing that could be enhaced, the lashes. Please give a moment to try it out and I will post some examples.

Meanwhile, I played with settings and made another variation - not what you intended but it's really cool how flexible this texture is.

Very mediterrenean! I see that my intention on choosing a pale(r) person was right as it seems to offer lots of options!

Goes together well with all those veins and so called imperfections in the skin!
And here is my result with the lashes.
This is what he have with the Antonia set so far (settings and rendered result - don't think too much over the eye bump - this is the bump that comes with Antonia and so it doesn't match the cornea's texture).
You can see that the lashes are pretty thick and short.

I confess that I am unsure if it makes any sense to plug the texture into the transparency edge channel as well (as more as I set it to 0.0) - I think this part of the settings is a fossil or something like that that I carry around with me.
But anyway: The trick is to choose a paler version of the color you use in the diffuse channel for the specular color.
I am sure that some of you are able to come up with something more clever (or an advanced version) but I thought that this may be worth a look.

Your specular is doing nothing on the lashes - you have the Specular_Value = 0. That turns it off.
When there is a pair of channels, XYZ_Color, XYZ_Value, they are multiplied together. Set the color and then you can adjust the brightness using the XYZ_Value parameter. But, when XYZ_Value = 0, the product (color times value) is 0 - meaning do nothing.
So ... good trick! Hehehe.

I will hand out the whole texture to the people in the developer forums as psd-files. The brows are already on a seperate layer (and will be for the bump as well) and can be left off if desired - but they are not painted... these are the brows of the "skin model" not color shifted or such so that they match the skin perfectly.
What I plan is pretty much what we made for V4 as a comercial product - and so I hope that it is okay that we only give it away to the developers. But if someone creates free jpg's from the set it's totally okay with me and Leo. Just the uncompressed base should be limited to those that create for Antonia, regardless if they use it for their own render fun or for freebies or comercial products.

That's very generous of you. I'm looking forward to playing with the texture set.
(Hopefully I can open the PSDs in Gimp.)

Yep - good trick. LOL I KNEW that you would find out at least what does NOT cause the finer effect. My "problem" is that I mostly know what to do (at least I can ask, right?!) but often not know why something works. So this is the perfect occasion to discuss and ask.
This is the result of some try and failure when trying to get rid of hard, brittle lashes or this strange "aura" you often get where the lash geometry should be completely transparent. I've loaded several characters I've made and found that I adopted the settings from an asian character I made long ago that has almost black lashes and a specular color of a very dark blue. But here I used a slight specularity.
If you have some more patience I render some tests with altered values for "Transparency edge"...

Okay - forget about it. I am really feeling silly now!!!
I can use whatever settings I want, I am not able to reproduce the look I had so often and wanted to avoid with my oh-so-clever settings. Do you know what gives you even more headaches as an error? Not being able to reproduce it. If i ever run into the problem with the "aura" or the brittle lashes again I will make a screenshot and ask again.
I even took character by others I have that show these problems on their promotional images and I am not able to create the effect here with Poser.
...but, much more important: Greetings from my "partner in crime", Leo (Digital-Lion)! He asks for understanding and a bit patience regarding the seams. At the moment he works full time, 5 days the week (while he used to work part-time a while ago) and so it may take him a while to fix the seams and maybe add a tattoo.

I think the aura you speak of is probably the effect you see when you leave the specularity on without a mask. I don't know exactly how the three transparency settings interact, but setting them up like in your first picture usually works for me for lashes and brows.
I don't know about brittle lashes. That could be caused by all kinds of things, I imagine.

You can't imagine how eased I am that you stopped laughing at me and are able to write again  I feel like a complete fool and I am really glad to go back to things I know a thing or two about!

Quote - ...amd here is what I use for most of my characters. As you see the diffuse color is not black. If I want it to look black I use a kind of very dark gray. For Antonia I use a dark brown, a color that looks pretty natural if you are not going for a mascara look or want it to go together with an asian or african/afro-american character.
I confess that I am unsure if it makes any sense to plug the texture into the transparency edge channel as well (as more as I set it to 0.0) - I think this part of the settings is a fossil or something like that that I carry around with me.

very good lashes IMO. the problem i see in other lashes is that there are to many. if we look at some ipcs from real people we can see that there are not 100 lashes. but under 50.
looks very realistic

I sculpted the combined kick/spread pose that gave me trouble and split the difference between the two channels. That actually worked much better than I had expected. The workflow is not ideal, but at least - thanks to DAZ - there finally is one for this kind of thing.
I'll try not to spend years on perfecting the JCMs, but I have to admit I am excited about the possibilities. Finally we can make a figure that bends somewhat realistically.
I'll do the knees next, then have a look at the hand and feet. When I'm done with the first round, I might upload a new preview version. It's been a month...

Quote - Well the rigg is getting there. Have alot more added now. Hands and feet next (fingers and all that UGH!) Then have to run her through a gambit of poses and fine tune, but looking good so far.
For some darn reason this thread seemed to have dropped my subscription request and I forgot to come back.
Glad I remembered since a lot more has been done since I was last here.
looks great too but I have one question and I hope I am not being to damn picky.
In V3 and V4 I notice that the the bony bulge at the top of the foot seems to be too high on the foot when the foot is en point. V2 foot/shin rigging seemed to handle it much gentler and that bony hump actually seems to reside lower on the foot. In V3/V4 and this figure I am noticing too, that bony hump at the top of the foot is too high up on the foot making the pointing foot pose look strange. Any way this can be fixed.
having a foot fetish I seem to notice strange things! :)
Quote - Progress report from the JCM front...
I think I'm starting to get the hang of this. This is still not perfect, but at least the bulges are gone.
This is beautiful. The groin areas on ALL the current figures (From DAZ anyway) fall WAAAAAAY short of a decently conceived and constructed groin area. On my old V2 there was a Groin width morph I apply which helps a bit but it is minimal. I am glad someone (YOU!) has thought a bit further in advance of the construct of this part of the anatomy. Apparently DAZ doesn't want to promote ANY possibility of their figures being used for erotic imagery so they avoid any hint of concentrated effort in doing this right. Thus all their figures, even when not used for erotica look fake when doing kicks or extreme fight or dance stretches.
Thanks!
Since on the subject of erotica is there going to also be added a morph for more realistic genitalia?
You know I had to ask!!!???.....;)
Quote - My morphs and they will be available to the public when Antonia has her coming out.
After seeing her naked here for months, I never really thought of her as a debutante before.

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."We have to hammer out the basic figure before putting clothes on her. If she can't even sit down realistically , why put pants on her? She will be as good as she can be made.

About those jcm - way cool! Especially when remembering what happens to the thighs of V3 and to her behind when you bent her this way I think that this is fantastic work!
And about clothes: so far we can use dynamic clothes (even those made for other figures) if desired

I like conforming better. When you use multiple figures in a scene, dynamics break down and crash Poser. Conforming works easier and doesn't crash Poser to the desktop. Each to their own. I never do single figure pics.
