hi @all,

Could please somebody help me?
i v e connected my card reader to my notebook and it has given my drives new letters.
i have told my poser pro that my poser pro content folder is on e: what now is named s:

it still exists on my extenal drive of course but as it now has a new name, poser pro says that the libraries cant be found...

ive uninstalled poser pro, then reinstalled it and still got that error.

Does somebody of u know where i can show my poser pro, where my poser pro content is to be found??

thank you
stef

My suggestion would be to just edit your LibraryPrefs.xml file, changing the drive letter for your external runtime folder from E: to S: .

This file is in your user profile, in the same place as your Poser preferences (.ini) file. Look for the lines starting with <ContentFolder folder=.... and ending with  .....index="n" >

Don't change the index="0" or index="1" lines. Go to the index="2" line and change the drive letter you see there in the folder name. I can't show a real example because I'm on a Mac, and the paths are different, but it should look something like this:-

......

<ContentFolder folder="C:Program FilesPoser ProRuntimelibraries"  index="0" >
......

<ContentFolder folder="C:Program FilesPoser ProDownloadsRuntimelibraries"  index="1" >

......

<ContentFolder folder="E:3D LibrariesMain LibraryRuntimeLibraries"  index="2" >
......

Alternatively... go into your computer Disk Management utility and change your card reader drives to W:, X:, Y: Z: , and your external drive back to drive E:

Hmmm... of course it's your choice which way you want to try resolving this, so I'm following up on all three options here!

Changing your card reader drive letters is very straightforward. I always do it on all new PCs that have a built in card reader. You will then be able to use drive E: again for your content disk drive. This seems to me the easiest way forward.

The LibraryPrefs.xml file should be in your user profile. If you have Windows XP it should be something like:

C:Documents and SettingsApplication DataPoser ProPoser.ini

If you can't see a folder called Application Data, you need to tell Windows to show hidden files and folders. (Tools - Folder options - View - Show hidden files and folders).

To do a clean install, you need to delete the Program Files Poser Pro folder after uninstalling, and also the Poser Pro preferences folder in your profile (as mentioned above). Poser will re-create all of this from scratch when you re-install and run it.

Hmmm... why does the forum always put the backslashes into Windows file paths when you first post them, only to remove them later? But I think you can see where they should be!

I'm happy you fixed it! I noticed I was getting confused with another thread in which we were talking about the .ini file -- sorry about that.
