Subject: Robotic Arm Problems in Poser

Hi there,

 

Does anyone know if joint parameters can be turned off?

 

For example, on the organic figures (e.g. DAZ humans) when the Forearm is bent, there is 'overspill' of movement into the Shoulder, which gives very fluid/organic movement.

 

However, I'm trying to create a mechanical, robotic arm in which I just need the forearm to rotate around its pivot point without it affecting the rest of the model. I've tried adjusting the joint parameters but without much success.

 

Any info/assistance would be welcomed.

Turn OFF "Bend"  for the Shoulder and/or the ForeArm.😄

If the model is already made, you can edit the CR2.  For each joint that
needs to be "mechanical", find the actor in the CR2 and replace bend 1
by bend 0.

    {
    name    Left Eye
    on
    bend 0                             <------ This is bend 1 in the typical CR2
    dynamicsLock        0
    hidden      0
    addToMenu   1

Thanks Ockham - I made it using the 'old' fashioned way with .PHI builder so will update the .CR2 accordingly.

for mechanicals depending on the joint design you may need to group your bodyparts a little dirrerently than for a person, so the right parts move.
