Whoa, been awhile since I checked in...=) Had the swine flu recently and did some Bryce work and now I need to put it to print (digital image to canvas) Sooooooooo, what size will give me a crisp clear 30x40" poster size image from Bryce, and how do I print to file? Been awhile since I had to do this so I'm kinda rusty...

Hi Zhann...At 300 DPI: 40" x 300 DPI =12000 and 30" x 300 DPI = 9000. So a 40" x 30" = 12000 x 9000 pixel image. After selecting the render quality in Bryce select File> Render to Disk. You probably can go 160 or 200 DPI.

Thanks Quest, I appreciate the instructions...

Hey B! just doing things in the real world, working to keep our heads above water...I went back to painting in oils, landscapes and still-life...
and  had some very nasty family things come up, my youngest sister was shot three times by her husband, in front of their kids, before he turned the gun on himself. Kinda of a permanent solution for a temporary problem...I don't understand why people can't just walk away...=(

so we're working through that...sorry, it's always bad news that keeps me away from here it seems...

Oh that’s horrible Zhann!  Sorry to hear of your troubles. Did your sister survive the shooting? The kids, how are they doing? This is very traumatic for them, are they having counsel?

It’s just terrible that often people embroiled emotionally can’t see past the "here and now" and being blinded by the emotional haze see no tomorrow.  Unable to cope with their problems, often not even thinking of the consequences to others, they seek the simplest, most selfish and most irreversible and tragic of solutions.

My heart goes out to you and your family.

Quite right Quest, very thoughtful insight...she did survive, actually got the kids out of the house before she collapsed. One shot grazed her heart, one collapsed her lung and the other is still lodged in her liver, they said it was too dangerous to remove.

Wow, that is terrible.

A think Quest's advice about probably going lower than 300dpi would be okay.  My reasoning is you said it would be printed to canvas.  The canvas texture would hide any minute detail lost in higher resolution.   Let us know how it print works out.

Sorry to hear about your problems :(

As for the canvas printing (i have a HP Designjet Z6100 at my work), a 150-160 dpi should be enough, be it a minimum resolution. 6400 x 4800 (160 DPI) pixels should be enough for a "40 x "30 print.

300 DPI usually is a good printing resolution for most type of print, but on canvas it's not nessecary to go that high.
