DAZ|Studio F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 12:43 am)
Isn't it easier to go the other way around? Bryce has a button near the top to allow you to open DAZ Studio from within Bryce. When you exit DAZ studio after setting up figures and props if you've opened it that way it automatically exports them to Bryce. It exports the whole scene as it is in DAZ not just single objects.
Wow! I did not KNOW that! Too, cool!
But, it doesn't work for me. DAZ opens in Bryce, but it's the 1.5 version (I have v3) and will not do anything. It gives me an error... Says' it can't find an importer.

Hey guys,
I'm having a difficult time importing obj. files into Daz Studio 3! Sometimes the files aren't there, sometimes they open at size much bigger or smaller than they're supposed to be, etc. For instance, I downloaded a city street scene and successfully opened it in Daz. But when I tried to add a victoria model to it, she was bigger than the freakin' city!! And what's worse is I can' t figure out how to scale the images to the correct size.
As I understand, if you have a zip file containing obj. files, all you have to do is extract to the Daz folder, am I right?? There is obviously something I'm missing here, so if anyone can give me some assistance I'd appreciate it.
I have a few objects with that sort of scale problem as well.
Since .obj files aren't native to DAZ/Studio you can put them into any folder you want. One called imported objects with sub folders named for the various objects comes to mind as sensible. I usually just rescale the object if that sort of thing happens. The textures are usually of a scale that allows them to appear reasonable at a normal size for the DAZ figures. You can usually use the size parameter to rescale.
If you know what application was used to make the OBJ you can try picking the preset for that in the import dialogue - you may need to resize the dialogue to see it as DS 3 is, or was, defaulting to a tiny size on the first invocation. If not, select the imported item and use the Parameter palette sliders to resize it (View>Tabs>Parameters). The problem is that OBJ files don't have a set scale, or any way to store the scale used - they just specify locations of vertices in units, and what the unit represents in real-world terms will depend on the source application.
Hi,
Just thought I leave a note. I've spoken with the DS technical support reps. about the problems with importing (exporting? also) from DS 3Advanced to Bryce. It was not working for many who spoke about it at Daz forums. They did tell me they were working on the problem.
A week ago or so I was checking DAZ products for sale, and they were selling a Bryce upgrade called 6.3. I called sales support, they told me I could upgrade for free since I already had Bryce 6.0 or 6.1. They reset my downloads and I was able to download Bryce 6.3. There are some concerns you might want to talk to technical support at Daz regarding having to save certain files before upgrading the 6.1 to 6.3. They mentioned presets, etc. I think it mostly referred to anything that did not originally come as part of Bryce, maybe something you imported to your Bryce 6.1. Contact sales support or technical support at Daz Studio for more information, I'm new to render programs and they could explain much better than I. I hope I was helpful though.
Have a great day!

Hi All!
I was under the impression that one can import objects from Bryce (I have v5.5) into DAZ3 Studio. Is this the case? I have tried several times to export objects from Bryce (which will only "make" .obp files) and import them into DAZ.
Am I wrong? It's difficult to make things match up jumping from program to program. I have to keep redoing my figures in DAZ, them import them into Bryce as an object to get htings "just right"...
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
