Subject: Antonia - Opinions?

odf ( ) posted Fri, 27 November 2009 at 8:08 AM

Ha, nice find!

Well, I started near the end of 2005, and took a long break between 2006 and 2008. So if my basic arithmetic still works, that makes 2 years altogether. And you have to remember that I'm only working on her occasionally after work and on weekends. Also, those 2 years include the complete learning process. Other people would have made hundreds of meshes in the same time. 😉

Ah, Phil! Good to see you around here! I know, of course, that you sold Puppet Master to Content Paradise... but would you mind, anyway, to help out with setting up Antonia for it when she is finished? I had "some" success with it but can say that I am not entirely happy with the result, it needs a lot of adjusting - but anyway: So far it's better than nothing.

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

And I am not strange, I am Limited Edition!

Congrats on her.

Any help would be appreciated.  You bring an impressive number of talents to the table, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you might come up with. I'm pretty sure Olaf will be,too.

I use ZB man a lot, so someone who has done figures and released them--their expertise would be a HUGE help.

I'm still reeling that PhilC dropped by and expressed interest!

I'd like a set if they have. :)

BluEcho,

I'll have a go at doing some tongue morphs. Anything in particular you were looking for? Some links to reference images might help. If the reference images are not suitable for posting in this forum 🤤  you could IM or email me. I feel that tongue work is one of the highest art forms, and I will do what is within my power to see see that Antonia is well supported in that respect.

Just some where she looks like she is running her tongue over her lips and slightly between her teeth.
Just so the tongue comes partly out of her mouth.
Doesn't have to look naughty, just a little sexy.
Thanks. :)

Before you hurt your wrists making morphs, remember that Antonia's tongue is posable. 😉 You may have to play with the joint settings, though, since I haven't really done much with them yet. And since I couldn't be bothered to create more than two actors for the tongue, there will of course still be some things that can only be done with morphs.

lesbentley ( ) posted Sun, 06 December 2009 at 8:57 PM · edited Sun, 06 December 2009 at 8:59 PM

odf,

There seems to be a glitch with Antonia's 'tongue1' actor. Rotating 'tongue1' also rotates the 'jawLower' actor. This renders the rotation dials in 'tongue1' useless for setting the angle of the tongue independently of the jaw. Deleting the following channels from the 'jawLower' actor seems to cure the problem.

twistZ tongue1_twistz
jointY tongue1_jointy
jointX tongue1_jointx

Fixing this would cut down on the number of morphs needed to pose the tongue, as rotations could take the place of some morphs. You might also want to delete the following channels from the 'tongue1' actor, as they don't seem to serve any useful purpose that I can see.

jointX jointx
jointY jointy
twistZ twistz

odf ( ) posted Sun, 06 December 2009 at 9:20 PM

Thanks Les! No idea where those came from. I guess I better check all the jaw and tongue actors to see if anything else is linked up the wrong way.

Googled "male head body proportions"

bottom of the page, there's an image showing measurements.  clicking on the image to see it access a larger version and information about it:

Quote - I haven't found any tongue dials yet for Antonia. am I missing something?

Select the "tongue1" or "tongue2" actor (body part), use the dials in those (rotate, translate, scale).

As I explained in a previous post, the Rotate dials in "tongue1" are next to useless, unless you delete some of the joint parameters. In my view the dials in "tongue2" are not much use either. Unless the something can be done to improve joint parameters in the tongue (I tried but failed) I think it would be better to have the tongue as one actor. With the tongue as two actors, it complicates making morphs as two rather than one morphs are needed for almost everything. It also necessitates the use of ERC to express both morphs at once. And then there is the question of where to put the master dials, and the problems of hiding the pbm dials, and dial groups that may get overwritten.

All that said, I am making progress with the tongue morphs, though it will be at least a few days before I have a finished product to post.

Faery_Light ( ) posted Mon, 07 December 2009 at 5:48 PM

I tried that but it didn't do much for what I want.

As for your morphs taking a few days, I may not get to work on anything more for a few days either.

Joint parameters are tricky, particularly if you user Poser's interface. I'll give it a go for "tongue2" and then decide whether to keep that actor or not.

Just to give you guys a heads up: I've been refining various joint setups (collars, neck/head, wrists, ankles) and added more JCMs where necessary. Toes and tongue still pending.

Lots of fluids, too. Preferably water. It helps with inflammation. Watch for coughing and/or sore throat . If you start a fever, please go to the doctor if possible as it may not be the regular flu, but H1N1. That one is a bear for people with compromised immune systems to get over.

I happened across this figure by accident and I really, really like her! It isn't often a base figure looks this good right off the bat and for free! She renders really nicely too. I think she deserves a wider audience as she is a great product.

Is 118 the absolute final version, or is there more to come? If there is more to come then a big splash should be made as this little lady has the potential to be a real winner!

Keep up the good work guys!

You deserve a break - I think we all need a little break from work during this time! So I hesitate to ask: Do you have a rough idea when the version 116 (Mike's remap) with the "old" eyes will be released? I am pretty busy as well at the moment (and confess that part of this ohsoimportant business is having fun with friends and glow wine on christmas markets) but I would like to release the set I've done with the old eye mapping (along with some variations) as close as possible to the public release of the remapped version. And I would like to make it public then as well.

SaintFox: That's exciting news. I'll be away from my big monitor over the holiday formerly known as Christmas and a little bit after, and then I'll be busy not getting thrown out of the country. But in the second half on January I think I should manage to put a release together. I'll let you know.

I'm looking forward to whatever you release whenever you release her. You and Anton Kiesel really show Daz how it's done!

I got Sapphire Fox Hair to fit her rather well, and, if I got the attaching right, I did a test render. I didn't have much time when I did her so I turned off the raytracing on the hair, which is why it isn't casting any shadows, still, you get the idea.

Keep up the good work

Thanks!

There is a small problem with the mesh when she's in a standing pose like she is there, as I can upload a pic straight in without going through a host I'll render it later. When her arms are down there is a strange step in her back below the breasts. It''s much the same as the same steps that happened with other joints when posed.

I'll show you what I mean shortly

Content Advisory! This message contains nudity

file_444915.jpg

You can see what I mean here, there is a step where the arm meets her body on the left side of her back as you look at it. You probably don't notice it in other poses, but I tend to favour this pose when doing portrait renders. Still, this is a prototype and I'm more than sure any issues will be tackled when the final version comes out. I didn't modify the morph in any way, that is totally as she comes.

There are three major inconveniences to life as we ALL know it.

  1. Old age.
  2. Illness
  3. Death irregardless of how it comes about.

My dad passed last month and I have not even really had time to grieve. Had to take a month off my part time job to take care of all the documentation our blessed government and all the services we use in life and learn to take for granted, required be adjusted.
Now my mom on top of all that shock of his passing has been diagnosed with a weird Mesothelioma which as her primary care provider I have to scramble to get my arms around. I am exhausted mentally and physically but she needs my strength so we keep going. Too tired and depressed to even consider myself my needs or my pathetic attempts at art....for now.

I sympathize with your pain.

It is indeed!

I didn't point put earlier that the Sapphire Fox Hair was the Dreams version that fits V4 and I had to scale it down to at least 92% before it would fit right. This would make Antonia a smaller figure than V4 by some margin, possibly similar to S3 in size.

You mean she ISN'T a SIX FOOT FOUR MONSTER?  V4 is too tall and her head is too big for her size. V3 is six foot two inches at the poser figure size comparison chart thread.  Which I cannot find.  Or I'd post a link. I'm out of it.
