No go. Importing a nekked bald V3 from Poser 6 causes out of memory errors galore on a 2MB RAM system with 88% resources available. Back to 47776.

I'm thinking about it. Most of my training courses I bought were done in 47776 which seems bullet proof on my system. But if 49020 works the same as 47776 with no quirks, I'll roll up to that version. I just don't know how long 49020 was beta tested before 8.4 came out.
50777 is painfully slow when sculpting terrain while objects are viewed. Even just a cube object.

It just seems like 8.4 has abandoned the 32-bit users, or forgot to include the 32/64-bit detection install switch when installing Vue 8.4.

I'm not a maint. subscriber. So no affect from my input. The wierd thing is that the bug report dialog box crashes too if I try to enter a description of the problem.
E-on is getting pounded though for releasing a beta with the last update to non-subscribers. Now they have BETA in red letters. E-on can't win. First they wouldn't release EEF's to just anyone. Now they release extreme beta versions to anyone.
My guess is that 8.5 is just a couple weeks away from being announced and they want 8.4 off their books.

Does 50777 turn on skin displacement as well as bump for Poser imports? That would bring a system to its knees.

Looks like Win7 64-bit is required to use VueInf 8.4. Wish E-on would mention this.

Updated tzo 50777 and it screwed up my machine beyond recognition.... deinstalled vue 8 completely and reinstalled with last non beta update and voila everything works fine again, no ctds or freeze or memory error anymore, no message that my gaphic crad is not suited and so on. I stay put until the non beta release of any update from now on.
As a devout Vue 6.5 user it's that time of year when I again look at the feature set of the latest Vue version. This time I see the multiple material preset which is one feature that would be useful to me, but then looking at the problems people seem to be having I'm not eager to update. I went thru many issues myself before I got to 6.5, with crashes and strange errors, and the last thing I want is to get back to these days, so I think I'll wait to see if Vue 9 has enough new things to warrant the headaches.

I did already imported successfully a dynamic cloth item from PP2010 to Vue. (one of vikike176's dyn cloth pieces). But at the moment I be in a medical rehabilitation center for the next four weeks.I did not have access to my main computer and Vue. :bored:

So far from what I have seen and read as well is the 8.4 beta is having serious issues, especially for those not running 64bit Windows 7. I have not tested it with Poser Pro 2010 like Mazak has, but it seems OK with Poser Pro 7 though.
Hopefully those with issues will get a patch soon or like was mentioned they may just wait and release 8.5 instead. I think the beta has not gone well at all for many users and hopefully it will get worked out soon.

I agree; Windows-64bit (7 or Vista) is the best solution at this moment for (most) the trouble with Vue. Even if the users not the computer updating. They should update the operating system to 64bit.

Build 51487 does not fix any of the problems I had with 50777. Did e-on fire a programmer that knew how Vue worked?

I would encourage you to make sure and post your problems on the official e-on forum and let them know. There are several posts there about trouble with 8.4. Also, many have found network rendering problems, especially if there is an Mac OS somewhere in the chain.
It's not just you, many have said the 8.4 beta is FAR from being a reliable update for them. So, it appears e-on needs to spend a LOT more time working on it from those accounts.

I have posted there, too, hoping someone who is a subscriber will post the bugs also, because since I'm not a subscriber, my bug reports for 8.4 don't get attention.
Kind of weird that subscribers, in theory, pay less for Vue and get EEF support while non-subscribers pay more (if they also buy the .5 releases) and just get Vue with no support.
Maybe E-on's plan is for the non-subscribers to pay for the subscriber's support? Or they increased their customer base 10-fold by offering subscriptions, but are now losing money because they are forced to give out .5 releases for free on a routine basis and so not much effort is put into Vue's quality control until a new .0 release begins its push?
Who knows. We'll see how the 3D economy is a year from now.

Personally, I don't think that is how it works in terms of reporting bugs. As long as you have a valid serial number that is registered with e-on and post on the official e-on Vue 8 forums, it should be the same regardless. The only difference is there was SUPPOSED to be guaranteed tech support on the paid for forums when you posted an issue they would respond in 24 hours. Now, I must say that many on that PAID forum are complaining because if you look at the posts there as an subscriber, it is totally dead. There is no one patrolling that forum either and more than several people that paid for that support are complaining about this. We PAID for someone to be there and for a guaranteed service that no one seems to be getting.
So, I don't know what is going on because even those that PAID more for their special tech support and EFF are not seeing ANYONE helping or responding to posts in that forum. It's as though e-on is having lots of trouble leaving some in that forum to wonder just how stable e-on is given the service they are not receiving. It sure seems like there have been cut backs at their company, at least from their tech support/programmers.

And e-on is making beta updates availabe again to non-subscribers, but not setting previous betas as official updates (just deleting them). So maybe there are not enough EEF users available to get enough beta testing for newer updates? So now I'm a beta tester once again. And 8.5 is just around spring break.
No pressure.

Are you doing a PZ3 Poser Import? Are you using the "Poser Shader Tree" option and what other settings?
Is you Poser figure set to be resized automatically on import or manual or turned off?

As you can tell from the image, every single PZ3 I try to import is now a gray shade and has texture issues too. I tried all kinds of different settings, such as with and without Poser Shader Tree and nothing seems to have any effect on how things look.
I did not notice this until 8.4 and had it working just fine before. Now, I am not sure what the heck is going on since I can't even get a normal looking import. Does anyone else see this or have issues besides a few of us here? Like I said, it was working before the patch, now, I don't know what would be causing something like this.

I dodn't know if putting the 8.4 patch in did this, or whether it's an existing bug, as said I haven't played with Vue much for a couple of months (Jebuz it's 20C outside today, gorgeous weather, yet we had killer blizzards 2 weeks ago!)
I tried adding SSS to a displaced material: the skin of "Goblin Hero" on Mike 4, and it went crazy like your pic, the SSS and displacement really didn't get along for some odd reason, until I darkened the shade of the ABSORPTION FILTER COLOUR, which i usually set as a copy of the "Color correction - overall color" from Color & Alpha tab.

Another problem I see is a distorted blotchy looking spots on my skin textures when importing using the option to "render using Poser Shader Tree". The picture here shows what I am talking about. It obviously is NOT there when rendered in Poser Pro 2010. Also, it goes away when you turn OFF the option to not use the Poser Shader Tree. So something is certainly up with that because I did not get this at all in Vue 7 when using the import with Poser Shader Tree option.
I am trying to get help to see what the word is on why this is happening. Hope to have an answer as to what this is and why Vue 7 did not do this.
BTW, does anyone see any sluggish feel when moving Poser characters in Vue 8.4 using the Vue gizmos? My camera, zoom, etc. seems real sluggish even with a reported 89% resources free.

It has nothing to do with lighting, settings or anything like that which can be solved that easy. If it was, e-on would have said to try something like that I am sure. After reporting it on their special support forum, they don't have an answer and most likely have to report as some kind of bugs in Vue 8/8.4.
They are still looking into it as this is something that is an issue that needs to be fixed. There are other Poser import issues too it seems with Vue 8/8.4. All I can say is registered users should report them to e-on so they know and hopefully can get a fix soon.
Also, Vue 7/7.5 did NOT have these issues as they imported and rendered just fine.

Well, that's where the problem is for me, this does NOT happen if you turn OFF the option for Poser Shader Tree. Try turning it on and see what happens, also try it with a somewhat darker skin texture too. Just a basic scene, nothing special and no additional lighting. If you can try this and post some pictures it may help narrow down the issue.
Like I said, this happens on ALL PZ3 imports if you turn ON Poser Shader Tree as an option. Also, I seem to have a scaling issue at times if the Auto Resize is checked. Usually I leave that option off though but it does seem to be an issue as well. Others have reported the same thing and there does appear to be some glitches.

No, I am working with someone now trying to figure this out. They did not say to do this and I am sure they would have if it was something they could troubleshoot that way to find an answer.
What they said so far was it may very well be problems with importing from Poser Pro products, such as Poser Pro 7 and the new Poser Pro 2010. The reason is they removed that in their code and made some changes. As you can tell, any Poser Pro reference is gone and they are saying to use either Poser 7 or Poser 8. However, they said nothing has been done for the newer Poser Pro 2010 and also nothing about Poser Pro 7 since it was removed too.
Until someone else using Poser Pro 7 or Poser Pro 2010 with Vue 8.4 AND Poser Shader Tree can post some pictures, especially of darker skin materials on a V4 model, then it is looking more like what they said it may be regarding Poser Pro importing issues.

You should report this too so they know about what you found in Vue 8.4 regarding that problem. I know from talking with others they still have some Poser importing bugs and this may be another. Also, you should send them some example pictures showing what it looked like in Vue 8.4 VS Vue 8 build 49020 which works OK.

Probably why this one has never bitten me. I never use the poser shader tree, all my figures get SkinVued.
Also, I'm still using Poser 7. There's nothing in later versions (apart from rigged collada export) that I'd find at all useful so I never bothered to upgrade.
