Subject: Antonia - Opinions?

Thanks, DP. I tried applying v3 mats and her brows didnt work correctly. Is there a setting I am missing?

In what way did they not work correctly? I don't have many V3 textures, but the ones I've tried, the brows seemed fine on.

I don't remember if V3 has a special brow geometry like Antonia or V4 have. If so, that could potentially be a source of trouble. But I'm only guessing here.

I hadn't noticed that the material names for these differ from the standard Antonia names, which is why they aren't set to transparent by default in the CR2.

Something I'll have to keep in mind for the next minor update, I guess.

It has always been my vision to have all the Poser figures comply to ONE oveall standardized texture configuration, just as there is a standardized guage for all commercial RailRoads.  Thus that the same texture can be used on V3, V4, V2, Posette, and now Antonia.

Now that sounds like insight!

Thanks for the skin refit. I have sooooo.....many V3/A3 skin texture maps this rocks!

With her V3 remap, Antonia has the potential to do for Rendo what V3 and V4 did for DAZ.  As for my remapping her, I just felt that it made more sense to tap into a readily available resource, than to reinvent the wheel for a world already full of Ox-Carts!

By that I mean, I wanted to do a full body morph on Antonia, I did a custom morph of her head, and it's an error on my part.  I was referring to doing a full body morph of her and I can't seem to get what I'm wrong, but again it's err on my part.

Sorry for the confusion.

Just a quick question:  Is the eye on the V3 remap of Antonia mapped for a specific type of uv layout?  I'm asking because with many V3/A3 maps the whole eye map is applied to the iris so I get a tiny pupil, small iris and eye white all on the iris which looks unsettling to say the least :)

Ah, that's another little material problem I hadn't noticed. Apparently, the eye material is applied to the corneas, as well, which is not correct. If you make the corneas transparent, the problem should disappear.

That seems to be a problem spacific to Poser Pro 2010.  With earlier editions of Poser, this sort of thing never cropped up.  One way to fix it is to open the figure in Poser 7, apply the textures and save as a Pz3.  Then open the Pz3 again in Poser Pro 2010.

Another solution to this problen is to apply BagginBill's VSS prop to the skin textures.

As you have more options to set up realistic materials in Poser (and DS as well) now in comparison to the time when V3 was released this is indeed something I recommend. If you are unsure on how to handle it you can even save out the material settings that come with several of Antonia's texture sets to the material room (one for the standard skin, one for lips with gloss, one for the nails and so on) and use them on the V3-remap version. Then just add the desired V3 skin and you have the best of both worlds.*

Sounds like a good utility to have for folks wanting to work with new models/clothes not supported, soft flesh morphs and other adjustments etc.

I normally don't look at stuff like this because of my inane inability to wrap my brain around such apps but with DAZ solid return policy I am going to try it.  :)

I think I know why some of the V3 textures cause weirdness in the eye. It is the cornea material. Just make it transparent and the problem goes away. The mapping for the eye itself is fine.

Now that the official figure has been decided on and distributed, I guess it is safe to continue creating morphs. ;)

I've got  the eye scale/width/height and face length morphs finished and checked for compatibility with eye close/mouth smile and open morphs, and dependent parameters added. I'm still adding some more nose morphs and I may rework some of the mouth morphs. I want to start on body morphs soon.

Here's a render I did just to play with some morphs.

Nope Tailorme is not a program or anything truly complicated. :)

TailorMe is a set of magnet presets, of various clusters with control props so you can adjust a whole set of magnets at once.  It's really geared towards adjusting clothing but I'm sure you can do all sorts of other weird things with it if you play around a bit

Once you have spawned a morph and removed the magnets, then the morph is yours. So if you want to use TailorMe to create morphs for a figure .. have fun? lol

I do see the

Antonia 1.2, AntoniaA-1.2

AntoniaV3-1.2, AntoniaV3-lo-1.2

And one that says Antonia_1.2_FBM

But then I have the following:

Antonia-126, Antonia-126A, Antonia-126A-lo and Antonia-126-lo

Is the 126 series needed or can I disgard them??  I went ahead and placed those 8 files (cr2's and png's) into one folder to keep them seperate from the 1.2 series.

Thank for the help

@RAMWolf:

These are the versions you should keep

Antonia 1.2, AntoniaA-1.2

AntoniaV3-1.2, AntoniaV3-lo-1.2 This is an additional morph set working with the actual figure

And one that says Antonia_1.2_FBM

You can delete the 126 series - as far as you are not using Puppet Master. If you want to convert poses to Antonia you should either keep this or get Antonia 1.0. Puppet Master will not work with the WW2 compatible Antonia 1.2.0. You have to convert the poses to Antonia 1.0 and then run a script that odf wrote (or do this manually) to change the bodypart's name for Hip (to waist) and Hip2 (to hip).

But don't worry if you delete something and want it back later out of any reason: I am a "keeper", you can always drop me a line and I send you an older version.

SF--looking at the templates in UVMapper, i think something wrong is going on. the colored lines are the actual uvs; the black is the template supplied with her. there's definitely an offset problem. but your textures seem to be ok when i apply them. i think it's just an incorrect template. then again, i've been drinking beer all day....

Antonia is so easy to work with.  Here she is with the new Mask-Da bikini and body (dialed down a bit).   Face morph is a combination of various freebie morphs and the texture is V3's Rene by Mytilus (thank you David for the remap!).  I've also used BB's vss and env sphere and then postworked some blur and graininess.  Many thanks to SaintFox for those great hand poses too and of course odf and the rest of the community who came together on this project.   It's still hard to believe everything in this image is free!

3Dream - you are master of simple solution. Your LittleOne is one of the best figures. I especially like your idea with spreaded legs. Lusitania rigs are not so good (maybe because standard mesh pose) and I think that her name can have bad conotations ;) Your UV maps are nice and simple as your figures, but I do not know if they are easy to create realistic texture?

It is no doubt - it is question.

I think that UV map with less seams are much better to artists create their textures. It's just my opinion.

I like Antonia maps because all body parts have simple proportions 1:2:1, but you are right - less seams easier work.

No problem at all, I go over to the next part and finish the inner mouth later.

I have a question about the V3 remap: Regardless what texture I've used - I always get clearly visible seams on the upper side of the shoulders and in front of the ears and the ear textures only match if they do not contain a lot of contrasts. If I use a makeup texture that does not contain a texture for the scalp (and load the scalp from the standard full texture, of course) I get seams in some cases as well. Am I doing something wrong or is this a limit we have to live with?

The example above is Blackhearted's GND2, from my experience a very carefully made, totally seamless texture.

IMO you have to find a balance between seams and stretching. Less seams means easier texturing but leads to more stretching which makes for a poorer quality texture. The extreme version of which is of course UVs where each poly is separate and you get a texture that is impossible to work with in a 2D editor but which renders perfect.
