I have used EZSkin on Kids 4 before and I'm pretty sure they are natively supported. Are these different in some way?

I couldn't get them to work...kept getting the not supported box.  Maybe I have an older version of EZ skin?

No such thing as a stupid question!

  1. Create a folder and put your xml files in it.

  2. In your main runtime python find the EZSkin folder. In there is a xml file called ezskin.

  3. Open it with a text editor and insert a line just above the first object call as below

Your Folder

For example here is mine. I created a folder called EZSkinXML in my documents folder.

  1. The 'ignore' shader makes EZSkin leave the existing shader untouched

No, just went back to look at what I had installed and it lists the Kids.  Not sure why it wasn't working but with the edited XML file it now does.  smile

So disregard the previous post...it was only meant for me.  LOL

Quote - A really stupid question.

I have Ezskin BUT where do I add the new figures that everyone is posting here in the XML file?

HELP?

Petra

I've added a simple guide (I hope!) to editing and using  EZSKin XML file here:
http://www.snarlygribbly.org/3d/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=79

If you combine that with the excellent advice given by Haruchai above then you will have the most convenient set up of all!

The most common problem is that it is sometimes overlooked that the definitions posted here need to be in a valid EZSkinXML file, i.e. between and opening and closing tags - they won't work just as they are posted here.

If you get really stuck with this then PM me and we can arrange to meet on Rendo chat to work it out together!

Good luck!

I'll just mention this too: EZSkin 2 no longer uses XML files for figure definitions (but includes legacy support for them). It also has a built-in editor to help you add support for figures without having to reach for a text editor :-)

I thought I can poste it under the other Figures in the Original XML file.

Hi:)

I am trying to add the remapped Kids4  into Ezskin since I am using them more than the Kids4

I have NO Idea how to get about it.

I opened Poser, load the Remapped Kids4 and then went to scripts /Figure Mats and got this

Figure name: The Kids 4

Object file: KidsV4UVs.obj

'Class' : {

"1_EyeSocket" : "ignore",  "1_Eyebrow" : "ignore",  "1_Lip" : "ignore",  "1_Nostril" : "ignore",  "1_SkinFace" : "ignore",  "2_Nipple" : "ignore",  "2_SkinHead" : "ignore",  "2_SkinHip" : "ignore",  "2_SkinNeck" : "ignore",  "2_SkinTorso" : "ignore",  "3_Fingernail" : "ignore",  "3_SkinArm" : "ignore",  "3_SkinFoot" : "ignore",  "3_SkinForearm" : "ignore",  "3_SkinHand" : "ignore",  "3_SkinLeg" : "ignore",  "3_Toenail" : "ignore",  "4_Gums" : "ignore",  "4_InnerMouth" : "ignore",  "4_Teeth" : "ignore",  "4_Tongue" : "ignore",  "5_Cornea" : "ignore",  "5_Iris" : "ignore",  "5_Lacrimal" : "ignore",  "5_Pupil" : "ignore",  "5_Sclera" : "ignore",  "6_Eyelash" : "ignore",  "7_EyeSurface" : "ignore",  "7_Tear" : "ignore",  "Preview" : "ignore",  }

Is this what is needed and if yes, how the heck do I do it.

I am new to all this and I so love the effects of Ezskin and use it ALL THE TIME.

Your help is greatly apreciated.

Petra

I don't have the remapped figure to test this, but I expect you can use this:

You can.

Haruchai's method is more sophisticated and some people prefer the extra flexibility it gives, but if you're not completely comfortable with the process then just edit the original XML file, as you say.

Thank you so much for your help.

I think I shall just put it in the original XML file unitl I learned how to do all this.

THank you

It works!!!  Thank you so much for the remapped kids script.

Even though I had the current documentation I think I actually had an older version installed in my 2012 folder.  I have both 2010 and 2012 installed and thought that I had placed the current version in both runtimes.

I know this is easy for most of you but for us older folks...it's really confusing!  LOL

I just tried the scripts and it works almost fine but they eyes are just 2 black holes:(

Wonderful, now it works.

What would be the best Rendersettings to use with SSS?

moriador ( ) posted Sun, 01 July 2012 at 2:07 AM

Is there a gen 4 version?

Yes, I know it's built in, but I want to add the converted Genesis obj to EZSkin so that I don't have to have an MT6 of every single character texture +/- the various versions (fresnel, yes/no, etc, etc).  Seems easier to have an xml edit for every Genesis obj than one for every character skin.

@Moriador:

Would you like to test EZSkin v2?

It has new features to make working with Genesis much easier ...

PM me if you would like to.

EZSkin v2 has a figure editor:

EZSkin now allows you to use unsupported figures, which a Genesis export always appears to be. You can then just use the dropdown box labelled 'Use figure definition' to pick the DAZ Gen 4 definition and you're good to go!

Wow, the interface looks excellent. I'm really looking forward to the new version. :)

Snarlygribbly ( ) posted Sun, 01 July 2012 at 4:42 AM

It also offers much more control over the skin shaders:

Remind me of your suggestion and I'll tell ya! :-D

So many people have made suggestions I've lost track of who said what :-(

Heh, heh.  That might be the case.  Originally I inquired about individual zone settings and separate manipulations.  I see that this will be the case with the new release.  Bravo!!  I am very excited about this version.  Can't wait.
