If so: how? (could not make it work so posted just a link to the vid)

Btw.. on 'DailyMotion.com' they allow ~more~ than on Youtube :)

Quote - Ho I just look at this so I can line them up thank. So you can set it up so it ges back and forth between 2 how?

If you tick Loop Queue and Write FLM it will loop round and continue with the first scene in the queue for another session.

The advantage of this method over running two renders simultaneously is you can run multiple renders which require more resources.

Besides picking the film what else do I have to set?

Set the time you want to render for in the Blue box (3600 secs is 1 hour) and tick both the red boxes.

Use the Add Files button to add scenes to the queue.

Like this?

Reggie68 ( ) posted Sun, 01 July 2012 at 12:02 PM

Yeah, but you need to put something in the Overrride Halt Time box.

If you want the 1st scene to render for 1 hour and then swap to the second for 1 hour and then go back to the first and so on, put 3600 into the box.

Otherwise it will just run the 1st render until you stop it.

I saw that and have it lie this now

That's it.

Xandi ( ) posted Sun, 01 July 2012 at 1:30 PM

One of the creators of the Wonderous Wares product posted an answer to my problem with using it with Reality/Lux. This is his post.

"I’m sorry, we’ve both been talking about it and a Reality version would need completely reworked textures to handle transparency in a similar way to the DS versions.  It would also need it’s own set of shaders for both the glass and liquids, probably another 35% worth of the work that’s already gone into the set.  I’ll mess around with the idea of a small addon which adds support, possibly for Octane too, but it would have to be separate to justify the amount of extra work it’d take.

My apologies."

So, does am I just out of luck and can't use it?

Haven't had much Daz time lately, but wanted to throw something together to help with the Reality crediting initiative.  Close ups are easy, and even better when using skin settings from ACSEL (V5Bree).  Click for full size in my gallery.

This is a classic case that shows how much easier is to do things right upfront instead of trying to retrofit products later. BTW, there is no need to do make any special shaders, just to have the right textures. Transparency maps are not needed because that property is built in the physical material. Get the right texture, plug it in the trasmission channel, you're done. Can be done in a couple of hours.

You have, as I have, now a good collection of vases that cab ne used with Reality, your best results, though, will be achieved with solid colors instead of textures.

BTW, this is a limit case, I used many textures with glass without doing much more than small adjustments. This is a classic case of faking results with shader tricks that are far detached from real world physics.

Anyway, good deal in communicating with the vendors, now they are aware of the limits of their approach and might do something else in the future.

Cheers.

This looks like a great place to hang out and learn about Reality. I thought I might include one of my first atempts at using Reality. A rather sad little clown. Could be sitting in his ratty old hotel room or a cheap bar. I wanted to show some realistic looking smoke for the cigarette using a brush in PS but I was unable to achive the desired effect.  Anyway he was fun composing.

Cheers everyone...

Already done. Reggie, all I have to do is add a couple morphs and package them up for you. I will finish them off and post them to you tonight.

The above image was rendered using the softbox which comes with the RealitySpots set, gave me an excuse to render the Reality book again :)

Been a few days since I've posted a render.  Can't seem to get all the ingredients to come together at one time.

On a side note for Paolo.  Something is amiss with the Acsel shaders in my Reality 2.0.  It seems they're not loading.  I go to the acsel tab, download the appropriate shader, and then nothing happens.  I see the status where it's downloading and installing; but, I get nothing after that.  I browsed to where the .db is supposed to be and it's there.  Then I click on the shader operations button on my materials tab, go to Load Shaders, and there's no db there even though I JUST verified that it was, in fact, there.  Any help you or anyone else in the community can give would be nice.

And yes, gave Reality proper credit on this shot in my gallery too.

That's not how ACSEL works. The "A" stands for automatic, you don't have to use "Load Shader" at all. All you need to do is to place the figure designated for the shader in you r scene, with the texture package designed for the shader. Load Reality and the ACSEL shaders are used. That's it.

Please note that a shader made for V4 will only work with V4, not with Genesis.

Cheers.

Just to illustrate my point about the "Woderous Wares" and the textrues, here it is a text done with one texture that I made lighter in PhotoShot using the Levels adjustment. It took a couple of minutes to do and another couple of minutes to set up the scene. One mesh light.

BTW, I setthe subdivision for the vase material to 1, the original geometry is a bit rough for a close-up like this.

Cheers.

The lonely clown surprised me.  Usually I don't even look at them because they're so creepy, but I'm glad I viewed this one.  He looks so sad and lonely.  Very nicely done.

Tollaris, I really like your white skin portrait. What did you do so that it came out so well and didn't blow out?

Now I'm going to rush off and look at those vases again after seeing Paolo's render.

A lot of tweeking of lights and exposure settings, plus using Color Space set to D55 and Agfacolor FuturaII 400CD film responce. Making sure the skin's diffuse was set to 220 220 220 helped too.

Hi all,

My first post here, I hope everything works as intended : )

Been away for a month, but also been working hard to improve my DAZ/Reality skills.

Quite a few fresh images in my spanking new DA collection, but to be honest many of them still need hours and hours of cooking to get rid of all residual noise.  Nevertheless I would be pleased if some of you would care to take a look, and perhaps even leave a comment or two. Thanks in advance!

Here's one of them (if I manage to do this correctly), Cheers!

So......here's my try at the vase.  I lightened the texture in Photoshop but something is amiss. Mine doesn't look like Paolo's.  I used subdivision 1 as well.  It looks like he got the expensive vase and I got the cheap knock off.   Help please? my lightened vase

Xandi.. too me.. it looks to be a case of lighting and exposure.  Paolo's lights are very subtle and seem positioned to get the most out of the texture and its reflectivity.  I'd try your render again; but, halve the exposure and see what you get.

Sharkie

P.S. the above advice was given with the caveat that I suck at lighting and am constantly fiddling with the exposure in my renders until they look nice to me.

Pret-a-3D ( ) posted Mon, 02 July 2012 at 4:36 PM

Xandi, your vase seems to have no highlights. How did you set up your material? Post a screenshot of the material and I will take a look. About the stretching, that is caused by posting the wrong size/ratio. I usually specify only the width and let the browser figure out the hoeight automatically.

I'll see if I can figure out how to choose the width.  I didn't chose anything.  Here's the materials I used for the vase.  There's nothing in the other tabs except the subdivision is set to 1. I couldn't figure out how to set any dimensions for the picture.

Doctorjellybean ( ) posted Mon, 02 July 2012 at 5:43 PM

Reality gets the dimensions from the Render Settings in DS. However, on the Output tab in Reality, there is a Frame Size option, which you can adjust to set the final output dimensions.
