Quote - Jay, which stockings do you use? If the 'shooting of polygons' is already there in the default positing I am afraid the prop will not respond well to my tips. If you have another set in your runtime try those :)

Charley, I'm feeling pretty damned stupid at the moment . . . but hey, the dumber the mistake, the better we learn, eh?

When I spoke of polygons shooting all over the frame?  Well, I had parented the pantyhose to the camera instead of Vickie .  The really stupid thing is that I did it more than once!

Just doing an initial test render using your settings (and properly parented), and things are looking great.  Thanks for your patience.

so what you're saying is that the stockings didn't have the same morphs as the camera.. or the transfer utility failed on you?  time to submit a bug report to Daz

Im a bit lazy at times quite often due to my scaling stuff needed for my deal, some stuff or textures will not transalte well once I "shrink" the character down to 10 or 9 percent. Thats the advantage of being a content hoarder, I can just go find something else that will work... Sharkey I have not needed to work with water in Lux yet if I am not istaken that is another item that needs quite a biut of time to clear up just like glass.. I used mirror surfaces in my dressing room set I posted several pages back I did not have a problem..

LIE mats? Sorry, Doc, I don't know what this means. How do I check for LIE mats?

If you had to ask, then you prob don't have any :) They are layer presets, and need to be specifically applied.

It does have the Mec4D BeardBase, which is available at DAZ3D. When I browse to the file location, though, there is a .dsf file. I don't know if that has any LIE mats or not within it.

Also, what shows up in the Shaping Pane are the kinds of beards and facial hair you can set. I don't know if there's anything that might cover up the eye area of the figure. I did try removing the BeardBase and starting a render in LUX, but that did not make a difference.

Just had a thought. What are your Output settings in Reality? Collect Textures checked, and if so, what size?

I tied collecting textures set to 2K when I was unable to render the 8 characters in the maids render it just hung and never went forward...

0.25 would be the size if I check Collect Textures in the Output settings in Reality.

Quote - If I remember right, Lux will not render Tiff mats.   Check your iris mats and see if they are Tiff files.  If they are try using a different set of eye's or load the Tiff's and save them to Jpg and load them in by hand in the surfaces area.

They are .tif mats. Is that it? Lux will not render these because they are .tif mats?

try opening them up and saving as .png. Then apply the .png files instead of the .tif files in reality and see if that helps.

I think Lux do render .tif files, or Reality converts them first. Inquire, change the collect textures to 2K or full size and see if that solves your eye problem.

I have a somewhat similiar issue myself.. i have one character texture that no matter what lip color i apply.. it renders out a kind of ochre color.. i physically have to change the diffuse base color to change the color of the lips on her

Unless you use SLG that size is way too small. With Lux you should stay to the original size or the quality of the image is going to be compromised.

OK. So I did go to Output and Collect Textures and made that Full Size. The files, by the way, were all turned into .jpg files when the textures were collected. The temp folder file remained a .tif file, named d2.tif. I did NOT get the error messages from the Log about not being able to access the temp file.

This time, it looks like the eyes are going to render OK. So, maybe that was it. I need to Collect Textures at Full Size and Output them.

I could be wrong but I ran into this problem in the past and had to correct the materials.   As far as Mec4D's hair goes they are objects and should not give you a problem. I tested several of Caths hair for her and never had an issue with any of them

I stand corrected on the Tiff files..........

Quote - I don't think that there is any problem in using tiffs.

Well, the .tifs do seem to be turned into .jpgs in the collected textures folder, although they show up in DS4.5Pro as .tifs. But there is one folder, named temp, that has a d2.tif file in it, and that is a file that has the eye textures. Again, I no longer get the LUX Log Error message that it cannot access the temp folder. That all sounds related, somehow. At any rate, at least the image is rendering correctly now; the eyes look just fine. So, I guess I need to remember to up the Output Collect Textures options to Full Size. I went back to using the textues as is in Reality 2.5, meaning I don't have anything unchecked or set to "null." None of that was necessary.

Pret-a-3D ( ) posted Thu, 06 September 2012 at 6:12 PM

If you don't collect the textures the tiffs are left as they are and Lux will handle them directly. If you collect then the result depends on the size selected:

  • if you select the same size as the original then the original tiffs are copied in the resources directory

  • if you select a smaller size then the file is scaled and converted to PNG, no JPG.

There is no temp folder in use by Reality for this, so that part is related to Studio. If you have jpgs then there is something strange happening...

If I knew it would not be strange :) Since I convert the textures to PNG, if you have JPEGs then there is something else that is happening. Reality does not convert to JPG.

Well, here for example, are the converted jpgs for M5. These ended up in the Reality Resources/textures/M5 folder.

Here is what's in the temp folder.

inquire ( ) posted Thu, 06 September 2012 at 9:51 PM

file_486207.png

There are other folders, too, depending upon what I used in the scene. Each folder contains .jpgs. Here, for example is what's in the MorningHair folder, because I used DAZ's MorningHair. It fit M5 well, even though it was originally made for characters like M3, D3 and the Freak.

I'm not trying to be tedious nor argumentative, but just to indicate what I'm seeing on my end.

Pret-a-3D ( ) posted Thu, 06 September 2012 at 9:57 PM

Quote - > Quote - Quick question.. when I am setting the OpenCL workgroup Size what exactly is that doing or using?

It's giving a fix to a bug in the nVidia driver. Normally the driver should be able to set a good default for that internal value but it turns out that it does not happen. It's related to memory allocation at the beginning of the task, if I remember well.

Thank you for answering ^_^ .. so I set it to 64 and all works ..  to well :D

Nice work as always John, love the logo....  I also would like to thank you for all the great lights.

I am in the process of getting everything re-installed along with 4.5 and thought I would give your studio lights a try on a quick scene.  The spots work great but the softbox is not giving off any light. Was this made to be a prop to fill a scene or should it be emitting light?

DAZ is not getting much of my money anymore...........  I don't think i have bought more than a dozen items in the past 4 mo.

As far as the WorldBase XT goes it should work with the exception of the dome. The previous version worked but had very low quality textures. If this version is the same it will not hold up to close scrutiny in Reality. It is OK for distant backgrounds.
