One thing that I miss about using 3delight is my shaders.  I was a complete shader whore for a loooooong time.  I love being able to take ordinary textures and make them look like something completely different.  If you're saying I'll be able to do that with reality 3.. then i vote for you stretching your 14 hr days to 20.  Hell.. you have time to sleep after you're dead.  Then when you're done.. you can take your oodles of cash that all the poser fanatics are going to throw at your feet and escape to Italy again for weeks.

Paolo, question: Reality 3 has full access to procedural textures, according to you. Since Studio can't use Poser mc6 material files, as they are Poser shaders/procedural textures, will Reality 3 for DS be able to use it when I apply such a material in Studio?

Doc, the way Reality 3 works is the same of the previous version: it converts the materials from the hosting app and then it lets you edit the same materials via its own editor.

In the case of Poser Reality converts the procedural nodes into Lux procedural textures. In the case if Studio you will be able to edit the textures and use any combination of procedural texture that you want. The converted materials are just the starting point. That is exactly why I'm spending so much time in writing a fully fledged material editor :)

I've decided to be brave and start posting my renders.  I wanted to upload one to the gallery that I had posted here in the forum, but I can't figure out how to get the thumbnail small enough.  It won't go below 24.3 kb.  I've lowered the quality, nothing seems to help.  It's small 100 x 95.  I've searched the forums but can't find any info to make a small enough thumbnail. Please, I'd appreciate someone telling me how to do this.  I realize that it's something I'm not doing correctly. 

It will automatically generate a thumbnail from your render. If it is a naughty one, there are content advisory thumbnails you can use.

Xandi I just post them smaller size (something like 800 x 600) here and link my D/A Large file. OT Burst I face genned Jerry O'Connol & Kari Wuhrer due to another cross over of LOTG & sliders renders are baking will post some when ready.

Thanks Doc :)   I'm not willing to pay a 10 dollar fee to change my username to Zethara here. Turtlefemm is my nickname in pretty much everything else but art related sites, but I have purchase history here so didn't want to create a different account just to get my name changed.  It's a minor annoyance...

I finally managed to post an image to the gallery, but I could not figure out how to post a link to a larger size version of it.  I've read that you right click the image and insert the hyperlink.  I don't get a choice to do that when I right click it.  I must be missing a step. Help, please? ;)

Click the image, then the little chain icon at the top of the post dialog. In this case I highlighted the text so that the icon becomes active.

I use photoshop.  If you use it, on the file menu there is an option for "save for web and devices."  On it, you can specify the file size you want the end product to be and it will downgrade the quality settings until the end file size fits your specifications.  I use it for the full size picture and for my thumbs.  Works like a charm.

Paolo.. any new tweaks in the new 2.5 download or just making it compatible to lux 1.1?  While I'm asking, I've been using lux 1.1 with the last version of reality for a long time.  If you're just not adding the 1.1 compatibility, why have I been able to do this?

You could technically use 1.1 but:

• The material preview was broken

• Reality was reporting Lux to be version 0.9

The update addresses those issues. There are no ther developments.

I agree what I was doing was firing it up in Lux 1.0 then re opening with 1.1 now I will only do that if I need to use a dev version to eleminate noise.

I use 1.2dev directly. At some point while upgrading Luxrender the material preview started working again. I haven't noticed any other issues (don't care what version Reality reports Lux as!). Having to close down Lux and re-open the files in another version is an inconvenience I can do without.

I have the Real Gels for Reality. I tried to use them and got a message that there's a file I don't have that DS needs. That's probably because I had uninstalled and moved up to the latest version of DS. 

The message said that I should reinstall Real Gels. OK, I have the installer. But, there are still Real Gels files on my computer, in the Documents folder (Macintosh user). So, do I just trash those files? That is, how do I remove or uninstall Real Gels before I reinstall Real Gels?
