Quote - > Quote - Is the board at RDNA going to be hoarded by poser users? Just saying this due to the fact that the concerns / tips will be quite different from us DS users and I can see it becomimg confusing...
Just had a look and there are two top levels under 'Reality 3 official forums' , one for reality for poser (which is the original one there) and one reality for daz, so they seem to be seperate at the moment! `¬)
That'l work... Post the links please
Yes, we have organized the forum so that there are two main areas: one for Reality for Studio and one for Reality 3 for Poser.
You can find all the details here: http://preta3d.com/forum/

Quote - First I must update my Easy Pose System for Meshlights so the merging and ratio problem will not occur anymore. Then I must update my Projector set, have it tested and uploaded, then it's time for new things. :)
(apart from that I have to do the laundry, clean the house and cook dinner..)
Looks like you have updated it already! That was quick work! Off to re-download right now. Thanks again for this great invention.
Thanks to some helpful tips I could improve the Easy Pose System for Meshlights. :)
ISSUES SOLVED:
- DazStudio: Image ratio changes to 1:1 on loading
- DazStudio: Image size changes to 91 X 91 on loading
- Reality plugin: Output path is set to a non-existing path
You can download the updated files here:
http://www.ShareCG.com/v/67419/view/21/DAZ-Studio/Easy-Pose-System-for-Reality-Meshlights
IMPORTANT for those who have already downloaded and installed the set!
You will have to re-configure the MeshSpots (re-assign the IES file) if you fail to do so, then you will get an error in Luxrender when rendering with one of the MeshSpots.
Quote - So one HAS to use IES no wonder I had no lighting when I tried it
Edit the ratio is indeed resolved. Question is there a reason the normals point in the opposite direction? Does this mean one has to flip the light around?
Oi! now you've got me worried Bob.. Even without the IES the MeshSpot should behave like a normal meshlight.
The CurveLight should work as it is, so no flippin' needed. (Now I am flippin' cuz the normals seem to point in the wrong direction..)
Rushing to PC to check.. I'll get back to ya asap!
Attached Link: WEIRD-EFFECT
Well.. that IS odd! The normals seem to be pointing backwards but the lights work OK emitting light to the front. ?!?Another WEIRD effect is that though the meshlight is IN the view of the camera, it does not show up in Luxrender ?!?
Proof here below (click on link 'WEIRD-EFFECT' on top of post to see full view.)
Charley, in later builds of Lux the back of the light is not shown, if the material for the light is null, which is how Reality exports the mesh lights.

That is brilliant! That does give us an edge on real photographers! :) Yay! Now I don't have to worry anymore if a part of my meshlight in 'in the scene'.
It also gives me wonderful ideas for very dramatic lighting!
Gosh.. I expect EVERYbody knew this already and I am the only 'blond' that had to find out now.. smiles
Charley, keep in mind that that applies to the back of the light. If the light faces the camera then you will see it.

Quote - All zhi know is I tried using on of your meshes last night and it would not project the way I needed. I went back the the pre loaded Reality mesh it worked most likely due to operator error, that's how I discovered the backward normals thigny..
Oki, but does it work now? In my scene the normals seem backwards also, but still the light works 'forward'.
:)
Actually I ned to correct my orginal statement slightly. After you resolved my issue with merging scenes I removed the sun from my outdoor scene and ran a quick test with your mesh and it worked. It was for some reason last night I was not able to get it to light up what I wanted to do. I am moving to some indoor stuff when I try it will let you know.
On another matter. One of the reason I was having problems is due to shrinking my characters to 10% or less caused more noise in the facial area and some texture oddities. What I do now is take my set tie it all to a null enlarge it rather then shrink the character when possible...

This is the one I tried using Charley's mesh from the top but only got it working with Paolo's supplied meshQuote - The thread has stalled a bit so I decided to give it a bit of a jumpstart with my latest render. This time, kept it away from photoshop other than to tweak the color a bit.
This one is pretty good. Much better than your Marylyn Manson chick... :-) (And personally, I like this more than your last one.)
My current render has been in the works for 3 days now. Its chewing 10GB of RAM, a new record for me.
I just got done making up new shaders for Alpha Male M5 by SAV. It's a really neat model. Now, if I want to save those shaders, is there a way to do that so that I can use them again with Reality 3, if only in DAZ Studio, though it would be good if they might work also in Poser with Reality 3.
Or, how should I go about saving those shaders?
inquire, you can save the sahders from th shader menu, using the Save option. More details in the Reality User's Guide.
Cheers.

Yes, it will have an effect on the render because you are missing some textures. Is it possible that you have LIE textures and that you have closed Studio before rendering?

unfortunately some textures are saved in tmp dir and that is cleared when Studio closes, so some textures might be missing. You can probably fix that by using the texture collection feature. Make sure that you set the texture size to full size.

Well, maybe this thing just is too much for me. I had intended to buy a new Mac, and a Mac Pro when Apple got around, supposedly last year, to updating it. But, the update was a joke, and all Apple seems to be doing is launching new Dick Tracy gadgets. Meantime, I really don't have the memory or computer power to be doing this, and all the workarounds are a pain.
New MacPros are expected to be released in March.

OK Guys, bonus points if you can name the characters in this render.
Its called, "At The Malt Shop".
You see it full scale here;

most excellent idea and render! `¬)
Tried something new with this render. First off.. she's wearing clothes.. which is abnormal from me. Then I wanted to accurately create the glow that would happen at this time of day with this color of sunset. What I did was take my background image and add it as a diff texture on my mesh light. Gave the whole render an all-over gold-ish sort of color. Not sure if there's any other way to accurately depict the exact color of a sunset without fiddling with the light temp for ages trying to get it exact. Anyway.. enjoy.

Want to have a shadow pattern in your scene using a meshlight, and want to see before you render where it will be **exactly** using your DazStudio viewport? Now you can with the use of my *Projector System for Meshlights*.Along with the 3 projectors provided I give you 73 different patterns to load directly into the system. You can also use your own patterns and load them in the opacity channel of the shadowmask of the projector.
The system only will work in DazStudio using the Reality plugin & Luxrender.
In the zip there is also a guide on how to use the system. (pdf format)
For download, click link provided at the top of my original post.
Have fun with it!

lol, Now don't make me blush!
You can repay me with a wonderful render using the projector system! wink :)

Ask and you shall receive...
Callad, I played around with your light sets with this render. The projector worked just fine casting the lines across the the wall and Velma's face.
Just an observation but aren't these the same as Reality Gels?
Jinkies! The voice print matches!
(Can you say that with Velma's voice?)
BTW Callad.. have a render baking right now with your Neve character like she's not been seen before. :D
Sort of on topic. Just got Skies of Reality; which says that it is Reality compatible. Have zero idea how to use it in Reality. THought it would be traditional hdr images and it's not. Any help would be appreciated.
Just find the directory you have them in and double click the one you want. Adjust the opacity because it loads at 60%. It automatically loads into the IBL section in Reality.
