A true masterpiece. Not only the new toys inside, but also the renderengine get improved a lot.

There a lots of video demonstrations on the lower end of the page showing all new features included in Poser 10 / Poser Pro 2014.

And a clear overview of what is in each version just above those.

These new tools open up a wide area in a fresh new clear sky.

A true work of art.

Extremely exited about this version.

I was sooo exited during testing I just kept going around the clock. :-)

This is a combination of what most end users wanted for a long time.

All tools, be it for Poser 10 or for Poser Pro 2014, are such a big step forward that this is a true "Game Changer".

The SM - Poser  team did an extremely GOOD JOB here.

They have my deepest respect.

I wouldn't be surprised if there werent quite a few like yourself who bought during a sale

:( shame they didnt give more hints out so you could offheld abit longer, its abit of a gamble if you dont buy within the first year, I think i was in a similar position with i got p7 and then p8 wasnt far behind, i skipped it and got the one after as soon as it was released

yeah Dynamics looks great and also the fitting room will be a godsend.

The fitting room looks great, like to know more about it. Shame I don't have $199 laying around for the upgrade to Poser Pro 2014

Just wondering, will the Fitting Room work with new clothes I've created myself. Can I use it to transform my own modeled clothes (using a .obj file) into conforming clothes?

There doesn't seem to be a pre-order option and the launch date is very close so they may not do it this time around.  I know the reason for the pre-order last time was something to do with taxes or end of year figures but that was September, this time around there may not be the need.

I am sure if I am wrong someone will quickly correct me.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

Remember the big lead up to the last version? They were so quiet this time. Thinkcooper was asking for character names over at RDNA, so I knew it was near. Exactly the price I expected. I had planned on making a $200 purchase for another item. Guess that gets put off. It's official. I'm a Poser addict.

I once was so sceptical towards SmithMicro. That PoserPro(2008) seemed to to me such a ... whatever ... , but I have to say , they've come a long way. They have made Poser a real serious character creation, animation tool . Away from this old goofy prePoser 8 interface. They've put so much into Poser of most wanted and allways told to be impossible tools. No other owner did so well for Poser before than Smith Micro.          "Can we order yet, can we order yet, can we download yet... ? " (donky) ;-)

The fitting room is extremely usefull for building new clothes.
SO yes, you can enter the fitting room with a fresh and ungrouped object file you created yourself.

Load the figure
Load the object file.
Goto the fitting room.

Create a new sim. Load your clothing object file, and load the "target" figure. (the figure you want the clothing to fit.)

Position and adjust the clothing object file if required.
If you build the clothing object for a particualr figure, it loads right into the correct position.

Click FIT. The clothing object will be fitted around the 'target" figure you loaded.

Create figure.
This is the same as, but better then the setup room.

  • It rigs the clothing with the underlying "target" figures rig.
  • Transfer morphs, you can choose what morphs to transfer from the "target" figure into the clothing
  • Autogroup if you build your objects without groups.
    => Create.

Goto the pose room and you have a ready clothing.
Click conform to, and DONE => Joepie - jaai - jaaayyyyy !!!!!!!!!!! :-) :-)

Dit I mention I was exited testing these things?

To continue on this subject.

If you want to add pockets or buttons to your clothing? ha-ha-ha-, trouble right????
Oh no!!!!!!!! Piece of cake, like a walk in the park.

Do as above.

Build your basic clothing WITHOUT buttons or pockets or whatever.

Run the Clothing FIT simulation on the basic clothing. You will end up with a perfect fitting clothing item.
DO NOT CREATE yet, just do Spawn as PROP.

Export this fitted prop from Poser into your modeling application.
Now add buttons and pockets and whatever you want to add. :-)

Ha-ha---
Go back to Poser, import your finalised object with the buttons and pockets.

Goto the fitting room. Create new sim.

Load your finalised clothing object, and load your figure.
As this clothing has already been fitted, you do not need to refit a second time. :-)

With loaded clothing and "target" figure, they should fit together, CLICK create figure.

  • This transfers the rig of the target figure into the clothing item.
  • You can choose the morphs to transfer from the "target" figure into the clothing
  • You can autogroup if you did not add groups yourself.

Goto Pose room and Click, conform to your target figure.

Done :-) :-) :-)

Perfect fitting clothing with pockets and buttons.

I can only see one problem with Poser Pro 2014..... everyone who can modelcan fit clothes now, so the marketplaces will be flooded with new clothes, or no one will buy clothing anymore. Now you can transfer clothing easily and do you own.... I'm curious to see how this will affect the whole poser content market.

Will the new Pixar subdivision surface make Genesis more Poser friendly?

I'm not sure if I am correct on this, but my understanding of Genesis in the current  Poser version is a lot of detail is lost due to a lower subdivision level.

Genesis is as Poser friendly as she has always been.
Set Smoothing crease angle at 180° for all her groups. => Gives a better result in Poser then she ever did in DS. (The free Scenefixer script can set all groups automatically for you.)
Render with Smooth Polygons ON.

Genesis never needed Subd in Poser in the first place.
But it is there now.

Poser can now transform any figure into Unimesh. You can subdivide the unimesh to any level you want (memory permitting). Props can be subdivided as well

So if you have a DSON converted genesis figure, save it to the library, you can load it in P10, convert it to unimesh and you will have all the detail you want

Exciting news!  There is a glitch in the pricing though - for upgrading from poser 9
to Poser 10.

If they really want to give a 40% discount, the upgrade price should be
$107.99, not $149.99.  At 149.99, that is only a 17% discount.

I hope they change that.

Hi lululee!

The sub-d, as I understand it, creates a shell around an existing figure (you don't physically see a shell or anything :) ) and it allows separate sub-d for preview and render time.  Sub-d can be applied differently for different body parts also if you need that - BEST for un-connected parts like eyeballs, otherwise could be seaming at where body parts connect.  Sub-D also works on props.

Genesis in Poser, as it currently stands, has it's own sub-d control via DSON for Poser - I'm not sure how or if Poser's sub-d would work on top of that... or if it would cause issues.
