with any app or using multiple app's
only 3 ways I know of getting it.
Paint it in a 2D app
Dynamic hair
Make it like they make conforming hair

Try adding the Noise node modifyer to the bump slot in the materials, and then experimet with the strength
STOP PALESTINIAN CHILD ABUSE!!!! ISLAMIC HATRED OF JEWS
It's an easy way to create grass on the groundplane, and with a bit of postwork blur will be A LOT easier than struggling with dynamic hair! Also a lot easier on resorce and render demand!

parkdalegardener : That looks good
mamba-negra : You can select what polygons get hair.
Just like your render settings ,Dynamics setting will determine your render times.
Can take a little longer or a lot longer.

I've been playing, but so far, it's a pretty big mess. I need to spend more time with the manual and practicing on a sphere before I'll get anything useful.
One thing I've noticed is that, at least on the sphere, the follicles seem to favor a single direction. So, on one side of the sphere they will naturally wilt, but on the other, they seem to start upward before gravity takes effect. I realize that is related to the root stiffness, but I don't understand why it doesn't start off perpendicular to the tangent. Is it just a shortcut that Poser uses that happens to sometimes have a direction that is baked in on the lean of the root, or is there another setting I'm not using properly?
You can't make hair groups span body parts. You will have to make at least one for each group or convert the shirt to dynamic, although I don't know how that would look with hair on it. I recomend using multiple groups then you can have the hair go in different directions using the the growth control. Or,if you are a glutton for punishment, you can have those set all the direction dials to zero and then use the styling tool to make them go in the dircetion you want. Also watch for faces on the inside of the sweater (sometimes added to give depth) don't select those.

Red Phantom, that looks about right. Your hairs are probably a good bit coarse, but for poser, I would say it's would do splindedly.
Angora is actually made from fur from a special kind of rabbit. So, it is fur, it's just not like the fur coats or other types of fur that we think of. I believe it's woven into a fabric.

RedPhantom seems to have you well in hand. A few thoughts....
The render time can soar to almost unrealistic lenghts if you leave "emitter" on for the hair.
The mesh density has a direct effect on growing the hair so you may need to change settings across body parts if the mesh density changes so that you can keep an even look across the entire prop. The lower the mesh density, the better the hair looks. IMHO
For patterned hair like a leopard or zebra print you can plug the texture into the hair node both root and tip instead of the blonde shader that is there by default.
Hair does grow perpendicular to the polygon. Image included.
Don't try growing hair on a dynamic object. You will be long dead by the time the calculations finish.

Could we burn a leopard or zebra texture on to a dynamic hair that's converted into .obj conforming hair ?
for faster render times .

RorrKonn, do you know of a way to conver the hair? Most attempts that I have heard of, if they work at all, cause such a high poly count the computers can't handle it. But if there is a usable way, I'd love to be able to do it.

Conversion to a reasonable object is something I have yet to see done. The hair node can be uv mapped along the P node but Fibre Mesh hair out of zBrush but be a better option. I don't have zBrush so I cannot say for sure.
Regarding hair on a dynamic cloth. I did a tiger skin throw for a chair to demo the process on another board using Poser's hi res square. The results were fantastic. The render took 27 hours.

Ya could export n import hair in sections/parts.
Might help to leave in box, wireframe in Poser.
C4D can hide meshes till render time.
more or less ,LW raises n lowers the polycount depending on how close it is to the camera.
When Poser 5 got dynamic hair was the last time I messed with Poser dynamic hair.
since mamba-negra angora swetter is soild pink & Pro 14 has a brush.
thought converting the dynamic hair to conforming might be feasible
I know I know I shouldn't be thinking ;)
I messed a very little with zBrush fiber/hair.
It's cool for zBrush but don't know about exporting it for another 3D app or Poser.
Don't know if ya could re topology fiber for game meshes.
I need to try that.
If ya could just have a shader on dynamic hair where the shader would have the hairs with random colors.
so every hair is no the exsact same color would be a lot closer to conforming hair.
Can Pro 14 dynamic hair have shaders ?

I have a render where I'm using a sweater and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for creating an angora type textures.
I did try adding dynamic hair, but it didn't work so well, nor did displacement. I'm guessing hair is the way, but it will have to be VERY dense. Any other alternatives out there?
