Here's a sneak peek, right at the top:

Hey Sharky, I have Elena also and her lips are fairly easy to correct. Set a low specular color in the grey range (35-41 I find useful) and enable the topcoat for pink/flesh, around .19 to .25. Glossy to 7500-8000 and she's off and away!

Much appreciated Paolo and John!

Next step, whoring and pleading for money. Not my strong suit, but here goes! =D

Add: I have one more little piece I wanted to add in but didn't quite make it in the previous vid. I'll wedge it into the youtube version in a day or so where full resolution can be enjoyed! That transcoding degeneration... Guh!

I have hit a bit of a snag I have been using Jazlyn with her outfit without any issues converted to Reality Lux then when I imported her into a newly built scene her hose goes to crap same settings even attempted to remove the displacement map (which did not cause a problem the 1st time) I even attepted to delete all reality data from the scene ran a quick test render same result my imidiate workaround was giving her the same pair of hose the other character is wearing im just curious if anyone including the Maestro what the heck is going on LOL!

I think its more merging issues since it was a scene that had Reality Data. What I don't get is why the problem persist after removing all Reality Data

My finalized render

superboomturbo ( ) posted Sun, 28 July 2013 at 9:42 PM

Good to see you got it fixed, or post-worked it away ;-)

Couldn't get back to you sooner, my router has been on the blink. Grrr....

One guess might be that a transmap either got overwritten or replaced. I've been saving my shaders for the big project for each prop/set/character in a separate folder and noticed that it only saves one copy of the settings if the prop or even a texture map is repeated when I saved the whole shader set in one folder. It's merely a guess though!

By the by Paolo, I'm not sure where it is happening, but I think it's the 'save scene' command in Reality that will save duplicate Reality Data nodes to the scene in Studio. I was having shader issues on one run and went to "show hidden nodes" in studio and found 9 copies of Reality Data. Could be a Studio fluke too, as its so crash-happy that I save constantly.

No I just put the same hose thats on the other character my guess is something like that as well. I reaaaally hope all the merging issues are fixed in R3 cause it is a big turn off with this program. With all the problems I keep having, it almost made me go luxus a few times..

bobvan ( ) posted Sun, 28 July 2013 at 11:15 PM

STB or anyone else how would I fix this issue should it happen again?

Pret-a-3D ( ) posted Sun, 28 July 2013 at 11:19 PM

SBT, there is really no need to use the Save scene buttons anymore. They were added to overcome some limitations of Studio 3. The scene data is saved in the Studio scene automatically.

Cheers.

Ditto! Studio crashed on me sooooo many times during 'production' that I got closer and closer to adopting Poser without a second thought. Just had to finish it and think about moving operations to PP2014 or even Blender. Anyway... sigh

Truth be told Bob, I looked at Luxus ever so briefly and can honestly say that I'm sticking with Reality as it still has the most faithful translations of Studio to Lux materials. From what I've seen with Luxus, it has Lux's lights and Studio's shaders in terms of looks and appearance. Not all that impressive IMO. I've really grown comfortable with Paolo's UI that working with Lux inside of Studio would be that much more annoying.

I can say for certain that it was a Reality Data issue. Here is a quick test render with the same ground & character after I deleted the original scene due to being done wit the chapter. I get this all the time when I delete characters from the same scene since lets say I use a main scene with 6 or 7 character but I only need a close up with 2. As recommended I will delete all the other characters and unseen items. The finger nail color will jump from a deleted character onto the remaining one, if they have the same outfit with different textures the texture of the deleted one will jump on the remaining character the eye set ups get all buggered up. This happens on my notebook & tower...

Edit reply to STB I agree this was in moments of frutration with all the merging issues. I dont think one should need to rebuild the scene from scratch everytime but it seems in this case for example its the only thing that would of fixed the issue, which is why I just put another pair of hose on the character..

superboomturbo ( ) posted Sun, 28 July 2013 at 11:55 PM

Believe me Bob, I know your frustration! I would fully reccomend, if you use the same roster of characters fairly often, setting up shader folders for them. Highlight each clothing item separately (I group by clicking on the Owner tab in the materials window), click on the first desired to that piece, hold down left control and either drag down or click individually all related surfaces. In the shader box on the far right of Reality, there's a drop down box where it says Shader Operations or something similar. Click on that with your desired selections highlighted, click Save Shaders or whatever it says (the first option), which will open a directory window, probably to Roaming Data for Reality or Studio in Windows.

I set mine up in my Documents folder for wherever the main project is and make a character folder, for instance, Sandman Lux Shaders, then create folders for his skin textures, any clothing items in one folder, shoes/boots, props, weapons, etc etc. Each folder gets the highlighted shader settings for its individual aspects and nothing gets overwritten if you choose another character with the same prop which has a different diffuse color or glossy setting. It's a bit of set-up the first time, but man oh man does it come in handy. Just make sure you go through all the tabs to make sure the trans, bump/normal maps are correct, and I like to remove all displacement maps if possible.

Next time you load that character and the settings are mucked up, highlight the same, click the shaders operation box and select Load Shaders in the drop down box. Find your folder ('Recent Files' is a blessing!) and voila! Bing bang boom.

ACSEL does the same thing, but (and this may be incorrect) I've noticed that if someone else saves it to the directory, you get their settings. I spend hours setting up scenes sometimes, shader-wise, and sometimes use the same texture maps on different characters with differnt morphs, etc. The folder option is a nice back-up to keep everything the way I prefer that character's doo-dads.

Just an option Bob.

There's still whacky stuff going on like I put a human character's shader in  a file and the feline in another the feline shader takes over the human character even if I re apply the human's shader settings. I was able to fix it by applying re load Studio MAT on the human figure and once more re adjusted everything.... On the plus side it was a time saver since I could apply all the same seetings to all feline creature still one or 2 had to be manually adjusted. Even thoug it works it is also flawed...

Ok I am going to post this cause it may help someone else. Don't know if it makes sense. Seems that LIE tff files are at the root of some of my problems. 1st time I saved the shaders aka settings for my main character using LIE makeup without textures. Then I got all whacky textures loading on wrong characters that was fixed by reloading Studio MATS & re applying the "shaders" i then saved my main  character's "shader" settings including textures and now everything loads properly. Confusing stuff keedz....

Doctorjellybean ( ) posted Thu, 01 August 2013 at 3:12 AM

When I use LIE, once I've applied the preset, I browse in the Diffuse channel to the temp directory where the tif file is, select, right-click and copy it, then browse to e.g. the texture directory created by Reality for the render, right-click and paste. Next time DS and Reality starts, it's loaded from the new location.

All right, here is a radical proposal.

If you look at the summary of this thread it has almost 8200 posts. Think about it. If you were a new Reality user would you tackle a thread that has 8200 posts? I wouldn't. This is scary stuff. Nobody can read that many posts. It's a nightmare.

I would like to continue to have a place here at Renderosity where people can post renders and discuss Reality ideas.

What do you say if we stop this thread and we start a new one?

It will be the same but without the intimidation factor.

Shall we?
