Subject: Removing body parts from a Pose file

Darkworld ( ) posted Thu, 20 March 2014 at 7:04 PM · edited Thu, 23 January 2025 at 7:16 AM

I don't have a lot of time to dig for this so thought i'd ask my peers!  I need to open already existing pose files and DELETE body parts from them, in other words if I want only the abdomen to pose and/or morph, is there some quick utility i can crack open to delete chest/arms/body channel etc?  I know i can do this text editing but that takes a long time.

Thanks!

How about using the hierarchy editor to turn off the part that you don't want?

How about using Les Bentley's Lock Actor script? With that you can lock everything then unlock the abdomen.

ThunderStone, how can you "turn off" parts in the Hierarchy Editor?

OS: Windows 10 64-bit, Poser: 10

uh no, you can't disable hierarchies to change a pose file.  not in Pro 2012 anyway

Locking the parts doesn't help me, they still write to the pose file.

Saved!  by "Save Subset" the little button i've never even noticed.  When you save a pose file that button is on the dialogue box

Look under your scripts menu under partners and see if you have the netherworks PoseWriter Panel that has come with the last couple of versions of Poser. It allows you to save off just selected body parts, and has check boxes to select just Tranlsations, Rotations, Morphs or Scales or any comb of those 4 you want. I use it all the time to do what I think you are wanting to do.

The question is actually 2-fold, yes, you can save subsets of body parts for posing, both default and morphed.  You will need to pose the part first before saving.  Now, if you intend to create target morphs for body parts, you will need to zero the figure first, select the body part and export it as an obj file to be modified in a modeling program.

Does the "Lock Actor" work for M4 as well? Cheers

The lock actor works on all actor parts of any figure, so yes it works on M4

As long as the actor names are the same, then yes. For example the code for the All_Locked pose goes like this:

actor BODY
    {
    locked 1
    }
actor hip
    {
    locked 1
    }
actor abdomen
    {
    locked 1
    }...

You can also just edit the pose file.
