I don't know the word kickstarter in this context.
Can you post some pics of your comic please?
Love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
Kickstarter is a funding platform. Those who have creative projects or other projects that are seeking funding will create a "kickstarter". Those that I have been invited to contribute to generally had various levels. If you contribute x amount you are y and if the project is funded and completed, you get z.
ah I see.
Not a bad idea.

Over my 10 years as a 3D comic artist, I've always worked alone, mostly because it was simpler to work that way, and because there wasn't a clear way to organize a team where everyone would contribute ideas. With the kickstarter platform (which someone here was very kind to explain what it is) you have an easier and practical way of doing this: by pledging your level of contribution. If you don't wanna be too involved, but still wanna be part of the project, you can just pledge a small amount. If you wanna be really involved in the project, you can pledge more.
This algo solves a huge issue than if you did this "for free": contributors will have invested some of their money into this project, so it's in their interest to see it progress and keep moving. When you get a team together and everyone is in the "honor system", and there's no type of finance involved, it's too easy for people to lose interest or simply relegate it for something more "valuable". But, if you put $50 to have a character created for the comic, and you'll be able to direct what that character does in the comic, your level of involvement already increases dramatically, if for nothing else, because you don't wanna see your investment go to waste.
So, if the Kickstarter link to my project is eventually allowed here, you'll be able to understand better what I mean. Thanks again for your replies so far!

I think it could be really nice if you could apply some kind of comic book filter to it, maybe do some photoshop thingy, and/or render a thin pencil stroke outlines of the characters as well to give them that comic book look.
Here are some examples for some inspiration.
Here i think the shading are really nice, especially the background which gives a very nice comic style look.
Also have a really nice comic look to it, and the texture are very smooth with some rough shadows.
Again the shading looks really nice with few gradient levels that give the comic look and again the blurred background is really nice.
Here i think the contrast really looks nice and again the very blurry, handpaint looking background give it a good comic look.
And if you are looking for something that is not 100% realistic but with a lot more details. And in general a quite dirty image, which give a really cool comic effect i think.
If you want to save some time with textures, colors etc and just work with grayscale it can be really cool as well i think.
But think there are a lot of good inspiration in these images, that can be used to make some really nice comic book styles, and think at least some of the styles could be copied using poser and photoshop or Gimp etc.
thanks for all those samples, they are definitely inspiring! I do intend to improve everything in my comics little by little, I'm even starting to re-adapt to daz Studio (been a Poser user since Poser 4), as I really like what that software can do with VRML, so i definitely am aiming at improving the overall look of my artwork in general, specially in my comics..
thanks again for the pics!
Topaz Labs it's a stand alone app or a photoshop or irfanview plug.
can turn any picture/render in to that photoshop painting look that 3D-Mobster .jpgs have.
& a lot of other cool stuff.
Can't do inking thou.I've never seen a cgi filter inker that I liked.
zBrush has some cool shaders for some killer looks
& some shaders with lights ya can sorta get something like a inker.
never used ,but seen a lot of filter forge banners.

"thanks again for the pics!"
Your welcome, also not sure how i could forget but if you need inspiration for storytelling and how to build up pages, like layout etc. I would suggest that you get this comic book, which is the best comic book i have ever read.
If you dont already know it, this is the cover of the combined 3 part series. Unfortunately i werent able to find the english name for it.
But it was written by Bruno Chevalier and illustrated by Thierry Ségur.
But besides being a good story, it uses a lot of very sweet layout techniques.
Like this example, where these small beetles kinda of live there own life, while not being important for the story it self.
Same with the top left corner, its a bit hard to see here, but its another example of all these small side story going on in the book, in this case a battle between these two types of critters, that again doesnt play any important part of the story, but is just something that goes on in the background while the main story is told, but it helps to make it very entertaining, because there are so many details added to it that you keep discovering new things while reading it.
But anyway in my opinion this comic book is a masterpiece, which i think you can get a lot of good ideas from, even if you should not be into the fantasy stuff.
Do a google search for "kickstarter"
Once you find it, go to the site, and in the search window there, type "sandmarine", and then ENTER
You'll find my project there, and you'll see the pic I'm attaching here. Even if the project is already live, i can still do some changes to it, so any critics/feedback would be most welcome. I'm just barely launching, so I'll come back later to reply the other messages in this thread, but thanks to all for the interest just the same!
Quote - Sandmarine, are you planning to sell your comics online? Just wondering how (or if) you're planning to make any money back.
actually, my idea is to have the creation of the comic funded by backers at kickstarter.. what they'd get in return is the comics when it's done, and some of them get to interact with the plot and characters of the comics...
not sure if I'd publish a physical copy of my comics in the future, but it's not an idea I'll discard by any means...
I've got a feeling that everyone will probably be too busy with their own projects to want to join in, which is a pity really as you have some great ideas.

yeah, I might have to go ahead with this idea by myself, if the project gets funded at all, but well, still 13 days left, so we'll see...
anyone wanting to check the project out, please copy and past this address in your web browser, it'll take you directly to my project page:

Hello everyone!
I've been doing 3D comics by myself for the past 10 years, and so I decided that for my next project, I'd get more people involved. For that, I'm creating a Kickstarter campaign where the rewards allow people to create and develop a comic series with me.
I would love to get as much feedback as possible before I launch, as I really wanna work out any kinks before the project goes public. I really thank in advance any comments and suggestions on this:
