wonder if this could work for getting g3 into carrara >.<

I looked at the possibility, but the technique uses features that are in Poser 11 for the expressions. I'm not sure it would work. I heard that Carrara uses are not happy about this.

DocMatter ( ) posted Thu, 13 October 2016 at 5:38 PM

Okay, I finally got Poser Pro 11 but I'm still having trouble with this. First off... is DSON already installed in Poser 11? If not, the DAZ installer won't let me install it because it says it can't find the file path to PP 2014 (why 2014?). I have a DSON folder in 2014, but not one in Poser 11, so I don't know where to save the G3 figure DSON files to.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Fri, 14 October 2016 at 8:27 AM

The Current version of the Daz Install manager should allow you to set a path for Poser 11 - click the gear icon to open preferences, then go to the Applications tab and click the + button to add a new application, set it to Poser, 11 (or 11 Pro), 64 or 32 bit, and then click the ... button to set the path. If that si done try setting an application as Poser pro 2014, and use the path to Poser 11, but I don't think the DSON Importer is flagged as Poser 2014 or earlier only.

DocMatter ( ) posted Fri, 14 October 2016 at 12:06 PM

I tried that but the installer still wouldn't do it. I ended up just downloading it for manual installation and put it where I wanted. I really do not like the DAZ installer!

DocMatter ( ) posted Sat, 15 October 2016 at 10:01 AM

Okay, I've run through every step, but when I finally get G3 open in Poser 11, she has no morphs at all. None of the body morphs (or expression morphs) even show up. The movement morphs are there, but nothing else. The morphs are all there in DAZ before the conversion, but not in Poser. I'm also making sure both DAZ and Poser 11 are pointing the same runtime (in this case "MyDaz3d Library" folder.G3NoMorphs.jpg

willdial ( ) posted Sat, 15 October 2016 at 3:45 PM

Genesis 3 morphs are all Full Body Morphs and the individual morphs in the body parts are hidden.

DocMatter ( ) posted Sat, 15 October 2016 at 3:58 PM

Then where are they hidden? They're not under the FBMs as you can see here, or under the individual parts (as in the previous image), so where are they?G3NoMorphs2.jpg

RHaseltine ( ) posted Sun, 16 October 2016 at 8:45 AM ยท edited Sun, 16 October 2016 at 8:46 AM

They should be under Actor. Do you have the morph packs? If not there will not be many shapes.

DocMatter ( ) posted Sun, 16 October 2016 at 11:54 AM

All I see under Actor are a few FBMs, which is what I expected. But I'm still not seeing any of the other body morphs anywhere (chest, head, face, etc...) that show up in DAZ.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Sun, 16 October 2016 at 1:47 PM

Do you have the morph packs? Are they installed to the same content directory as the rest of the figure (DS can combine assets from multiple content directories on loading).

DocMatter ( ) posted Sun, 16 October 2016 at 2:28 PM

I'm not going to buy any of the morph packs until I get this crazy thing working. The morphs I'm talking about are the ones shown here that show up in DAZ but are nowhere to be found once I import her over to Poser (after following all the steps described). I've looked under "actor", the various body parts, everywhere... and they're just not there.G3NoMorphs3.jpg

RHaseltine ( ) posted Mon, 17 October 2016 at 9:00 AM

Most of those are ERC links to bones, rather than true morphs - isn't that what the conversion tool is meant to fix? Have you run that?

DocMatter ( ) posted Mon, 17 October 2016 at 9:35 AM

Yep. And even on the new "updated" G3, no morphs are showing up.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Mon, 17 October 2016 at 1:46 PM

Sorry, I don't know what further to suggest.

DocMatter ( ) posted Mon, 17 October 2016 at 2:01 PM

That's okay, thanks for trying to help. Guess I'll just start from scratch... again, and see if anything changes.

willdial ( ) posted Mon, 17 October 2016 at 8:15 PM

Those control morphs are listed under Pose Controls group in the Body of Genesis 3. There are sub groups for body parts, like Head, Torso, and Arms. What do you see?

It looks like the DSON Importer did not create the PMD file. It's a file that holds all the morphs. I recommend clearing out the DSON cache and try again.

I'm sorry, but I have no ability to create a MAC native version of the tool. MAC users have used WineBottler to the tool.

shante ( ) posted Wed, 23 November 2016 at 12:13 PM

What I really want and NEED is a tool that will allow me to open/import D/S environments, props and hair products so I can use in Poser. As much as it is nice being able to work with the G3 figures this way and appreciated, one of the reasons I have not gotten any of them is the new re-investment in yet another figure. I just want product line of the same quality created for D/S now as good as it is for Poser. All the set and environment and prop and hair creators seem to be migrating to D/S functionality and when i have asked if it can also be made for Poser users I am told to MOVE ON! Well and good for them but not so for those of use so heavily invested in Poser tech as well as the stuff for it. I am sure this tool does not solve that problem....does it?

RHaseltine ( ) posted Wed, 23 November 2016 at 3:43 PM

The basic DSON Importer will if there are PoserCFs (Poser library files to launch the importer, and hopefully apply Poser material settings). If there are no PoserCFs it may still be possible to import, using Dimension3D's script to launch the importer with a file browser http://d3d.sesseler.de/index.php?software=poserpython&product=dson_loader but materials would then have to be redone (and some items just won't work in Poser).

Content Advisory! This message contains profanity

I thought about just downloading DAZ 4 already and switch back and forth, I'll pass on buying Poser 11, I heard it's ass from a lot of people that use it. I might try Poser Pro 2014 but render wise, I'm investing in Octane eventually. Forget firefly, that weak ass shit is elderly slow. And they call themselves innovators. Octane uses the graphic card, mine is a GTS 950, if I got 1050 oh yeah stupid fast renders.

I wrote it in C#. I own a copy of Visual Studio 2008 that's why it needs .Net 3.5.

EClark1894 ( ) posted Mon, 28 November 2016 at 8:49 PM

I'm assuming that's actually C++. I never heard of C hashtag, or pound sign or whatever. I was just curious. I haven't actually messed with any coding for 15 years and I was just learning then. I think I wrote one word mini-program for the mac and then quit.

Hello, I have been reading through all the thread about DSON Importer. And have been unable to locate DSON 1.1.3.x Beta. I would like to know where to find this version. At this time I have DSON Importer for Poser that is available for download. That's all I can find and I have looked everywhere.....Please help! Cheers, Pat

FYI: I have Poser 11 Pro and Daz 4.9 64 bit systems.

Is there a way to speed up DSON, it takes 5 min at least to load Genesis 3 Female? And I think I'm missing something in the tutorials, I keep getting an error when using Genesis 3 poser updater on the poser saved figure

DSON Importer creates a CR2 on load. The more morphs you have, the longer it takes. I have not been able to speed it up.

Here is a video to a video tutorial

DSON Importer creates a CR2 on load. The more morphs you have, the longer it takes. I have not been able to speed it up.

The way to speed it up is restructuring the data folder.

DS builds the figure from scratch EVERY SINGLE TIME you load it. It will also load every morph it has visibility on. So limit what it can see. The way I do it is by building separate runtimes for my figures - only load what you need. As an example my g2f runtimes are broken out as follows:

Base - everything I want in all characters (Base Morphs, - I also keep hair, poses and such here - they don't interfer with generating a character). If there is a particular character morph I want available for all characters, I'll also move it from it's original location to here. Example: I have a couple of Nail morphs I want available for any figure, I dump them here. G2F Characters - all of my characters that do not use a specialty sculpt (Victoria, Aiko, Lillith, etc) Each G2 Sculpt - each of these (Aiko 6, Victoria 6, Olympia 6, etc) are separate runtimes - If I know I'm not going to need any Lillith morphs, I don't load that runtime.

A more extreme version of this is deciding what morphs you are going to use and pop those in and out of your data/DAZ 3D/Genesis #//Morphs/Vendor Ego Folder/ folder.

I am just curious will this work with props and nature sets and other non HUMAN characters which has of late been made exclusively for D/S? I am not interested in the G3+ figures but animals and sets/environments/props etc. are a must have for me and not being able to use them frustrates the hell out of me when so much better stuff than anything made in the past for Poser is made of late for D/S only.

What exactly did you do with the saving process? Give me some more Details, please. Thank you in advance.
