I keep getting download error every time I try to download with the download manager both a content update and a Poser 11 update. Any ideas or should I contact support?

Why, after installing this 3rd update to PP-11, is PP-11 suddenly running FIVE programs, just to start up? 3 of which are CHROMIUM. They also total near half a gig. For an empty scene with Library open. And constantly "Indexing In Progress". Why? What IS this crap? Why? There wasn't a reason for it a month before the update, why now?

I have a new problem that popped up after I installed the latest P11 update - I keep getting error messages after I start Poser 11 that say that "such and such" a file does not exist - referring to a previously installed item in an external runtime (on an external hard drive).

Something different (different item I mean) each time I boot P11 up in the error message. I can't keep track of them all or follow up to see why it is not seeing the files.

I run poser on a mid-2010 iMac. Never had this problem with P11 before...

I am also running Poser Pro 11 on a mid-2010 iMac

I get the same error message - usually repeat messages about the same installed product/runtimes. I kept notes and reinstalled those product/runtimes and still get the same error messages.

I also have problems at startup with no library showing up for as long as 10 minutes, and sometimes not at all.

Also, when I add new external runtimes, it will add the first one, but if I try to add another one, the library palette goes blank. When I try to shut down P11 Pro to restart after adding a new runtime, it hangs up and I have to force quit.

I have installed every upgrade and update, and it seems to get a little worse every time.

IMHO, I think SM needs to rethink their entire Poser library setup.

Someone humor an old man; what is a "QUAD" as pertains to current mesh modeling? Clearly it isn't a polygon.

Oh wow, I'm glad I read this thread. Ever since Poser has went with their "New" type of library thousands have had issues. I ALMOST bought the upgrade but won't ever do that until Poser decides to simplify their library back to what it was or gives us the option to. DAZ Studio still works that way and I guess I will have to convert to them even though I would rather have Poser.

Please let us know when you figure out how to revert back to PP 11 SR2. I have not even been able to get Poser 11 to boot/open ever since the 11.0.3.32055 Update. I HAVE REINSTALLED IT SEVERAL TIMES - even with changing the "existing preference files" as one blog suggested - with no luck! and yes, I have managed all the firewall and virus protection setting accordingly - still no luck! I even attempted to revert my PC back to 2 weeks before the update - but then it stopped half way through the revert-refresh process and then no longer had a record/image of any earlier revert files before the very moment that I had installed the PP-11.0.3.32055 Update...as if this 11.0.3.32055 update has hijacked my PC! I have adored using Poser up until now & believed it was well worth the price tag, but I'm now beginning to understand why so many Poser users are switching over to DAZ and just buying all the add-on tools to make it as usable as Poser...it's simple really - DAZ DOESN'T CRASH!!!

My understanding of "QUAD" is a Quadruped - or four legged (animal) mesh/model. Not sure if that answered your question or not - best of luck!

current updates have yet to fix poser remembering that I have changed the thumbnail sizes in the library. very annoying that I have to keep making them larger from the smallest setting.... does anyone know in which file the thumbnail size is stored so I can alter it.

Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.

shedofjoy ( ) posted Mon, 16 May 2016 at 7:16 AM

Done some digging, and altered the settings related to the thumbnail size in the library, edited the LibraryState.xml but poser ignore that, and if you set it to read only poser doesn't even check this file on first load up, but only access it on exit, which says to me that poser has the thumbnail sizes stored elsewhere. Is anyone else still having this problem?

Ever since the last update whenever I try to fit clothing (selecting shoulder and for example on the clothing) it causes the whole character to take on the dialed morph as well (example: Dial heavy on the shoulder whole character goes heavy. Not the area of the clothing but everything). It's annoying and yes I can just use the morph brush but it shouldn't happen at all.

Howy2012 ( ) posted Tue, 24 May 2016 at 12:12 AM

I dutifully installed the new updates to Poser Pro 2011 on a mid-2010 iMac...

Now, I have no external runtimes (not even Daz).

I did what I have learned to do the hard way, and saved a libraryprefs file, but when I copy that to the proper folder (hidden on the Mac), when I start Poser it automatically overwrites the file to the default, just showing Poser 11 Content and Downloads.

To top it off, I go to Smith Micros support page, and they tell me that due to changes, I need to "recreate" my support account and "click here" to receive an email with instructions. I do that, enter my email address, but no email ever comes.

So, I can't even tell them about the issues I am experiencing...

Anyone from Smith Micro read these posts?

Howy2012 ( ) posted Fri, 27 May 2016 at 7:06 AM

I was finally able to get SM's website to let me "recreate" my customer file. I immediately put a ticket in on the 24th. The support person is a bit more than rude.

It is now the 27th and I still do not have a response other than them asking for all of my system information.

No indication of a solution or that they are even researching it.

Just silence.

I am dead in the water with no access to any of my content.

It seems poser 11 saves the new thumb size BUT never reads that file back in. The tech support hinted that poser could be reading that xml from a different location so where it wrote it is not where it reads it from.

Ah, that makes sense. It's so annoying, TBH. What also irks me is, that, if you have the Library floating, you cannot minimise it (WIN version) or have it in the back. It always stays on top.

(1) The search function is horrible. And I do mean horrible, as in it barely works. I have a couple of small runtimes, nothing like the large ones I've seen other people complaining about, and still the search function can barely find anything. It takes forever to list the older items that I installed under Poser 9. And It certainly can't find anything I've newly installed. Which brings me to the second problem.

(2) The installer. I'm beginning to wonder if it's installing anything. I've installed the same zip files repeatedly. Finally, I finally some elements of the package ... all in the oddest places ... places that the program itself cannot seem to find.

What gives?

Is this happening to anyone else?

I have had serious cloth room issues after the latest update - the cloth sim has stopped working. After completing the simulation, (I am watching during the simulation to make sure it works fine), the screen will flash quickly and the simulation resets as if it has never happened.

Also, I am experiencing crashes - sometimes after I do have a working simulation and I remove the .obj that is being tested with a new version, saved out from the same program with the same settings, P11 will crash completely.

Starting a new file will bring me back to situation #1. Testing with old things that have always worked, they work sometimes as normal and sometimes I get the simulation reset. This is after restarting the program in between. It seems completely random, but also getting worse.

This is quite worrying and has never happened before, although I have seen people mentioning this issue on the web a while ago.

Is there any way I can reset my installation to an earlier version? Going to try a reinstall and report back, but it will be the latest version.

Dectivate Poser; remove from drive; reinstall. Go to your documents folder for the SmithMicroDownloadManager folder which contains downloads; select the last good one (11.0.4.32600) and install. This worked for me.Screen Shot 2016-09-11 at 11.26.57.png

iMac Retina seems to have the problem I mentioned - I installed Poser 11 on an old MacBook and upgraded it with SR5. Poser is very sluggish on the MacBook (which is 2009) but the selection tools all work. After several tries deinstalling and reinstalling and checking the results it seems to me that the problems are related to Poser and the iMac Retina. I'll post this on the SM forum also.

I just found a minor glitch with Group Editor in Poser 11 Pro, "Hide other objects" works as it is supposed to do but un-checking it only brings back the other parts of the figure, everything else in the scene has to be brought back into view via the Hierarchy Editor. I found this out in a scene with Paul dressed in his Business Suit, Shirt and Tie and I was trying to do something to counteract the frankly shoddy modelling of the shirt's collar.

I just bought a new computer and it has windows 10 installed on it. I had no choice but to buy a newer version of poser because my 08 poser just would not work on this dang computer. So now I get this poser 11 and I am having nothing but nightmares with poser 11. My libraries are not showing up. I have a ton of content I have purchased from Renderosity and Daz but I can't get any of these files to show up. I can't figure out where to put the files manually either because all that has changed up. Poser 8 was a lot more user friendly. I am so frustrated I can't see straight. I have tried the option where you can install your content with the zip archive, and the content will install but I have to restart the program for my items to show up on the library but, when I try to use it I get different error messages and then my library disappears. I tried unzipping the items and putting everything individually into the different folders but they have changed up the folders so that it is hard to figure out where to put all my characters, mats, shaders etc. Has anyone figured this program out? I am so lost it isn't even funny anymore. Any help would be great.

The runtime structure for Poser hasn't changed. It's still

runtime sample 1.JPG

There should also be a texture folder there in the runtime folder. I just don't have it because I only use that runtime for scenes.

As far as where cr2s etc. go, they can go in any folder under the library. I think it was like that in poser 8. But you can put them how you had them in eight. A few things to keep in mind, don't put the runtimes in the program files folder. Windows doesn't like it. Don't forget to add your new runtime to the library. And check for updates. The library had a bit of trouble early on.

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem with pro11 SR5 but when adding custom made morphs from obj's to various body parts, then setting their values to 1 and then making a full body morph, and then resetting the individual body part morphs back to 0 doesn't keep the full body morph at 0, instead if you change the bodymorph to 1 its value in the individual morphs is 2 and not 1 like it should be(even though the body morph is 0 the individual morphs have a greyed out 1 above the 0 I have set, meaning something ghostly is setting it to 1), I have had to resort to loading up poser pro14 to correctly put the morphs/bodymorph in then save and re-open pro11 for the clothing morphs to work with the correct values.

Bug : Using the Zero Figure In the Figure menu removes V4 Morphs. Also had missing Library after installing DSON importer. Shut down and Restarted Poser got me back my libraries though they disappear for a bit than suddenly appear. I do have a large runtime.

Poser Pro 11. Latest Updates Installed

When is the next update due out?

quietrob ( ) posted Fri, 28 October 2016 at 5:46 PM

Old scenes suddenly have turned to wireframe. All Morphs are removed. The scenes that I spent hours on making are absolutely destroyed. This includes scenes that I previously loaded okay. As my scripts don't work in Poser 11, I used an earlier P9 to apply a script. Later, When I loaded a DIFFERENT scene in P11 Pro, It suffered from the bugs I listed above.

I love the price but I'm wondering if I should've waited till all bugs were out.

quietrob ( ) posted Fri, 28 October 2016 at 8:47 PM

One scene is still unrecoverable.

Update : Luckily I made a backup of the PZ3 and began making adjustments to the copy. The other scene has magically reformed and is working properly. However, I, quietrob 99% does not believe in magic. So what happened? Circumstances between the destroyed wireframe and this scene is that there was a windows update pending. All appears to be working properly since the update. I can't tell if they are related. I am making more backups and then trying out the DSON importer again. It's one of the few scripts that still work in Poser 11.

Bottomline : I will live with the bugs but Smith Micro should do more testing with older scripts. Does anyone know where Netherworks is residing these days? His Material toolbox scripts don't seem to work with Poser 11. It might be a matter of reinstalling the scripts. Poser Pro still is worth jumping into. Just because the water is cold doesn't mean you don't jump in the pool.

It might. But the title of this thread was about bugs for Poser 11. The powers that be asked us to report them so I am. Note the positive vibe of my reply. It's worth jumping into. What do I expect for fifty bucks? I expect everything to be working properly. Somethings that have helped clear up bugs. Windows Update. Let it update. One of my updates has fixed the scripts bug or it might just be a coincidence. One of the updates updated my video drivers. That has to be of some use.

People speak of libraries disappearing. I think Larger libraries need to be refreshed. This can be done by rebooting the program or hitting the refresh button and taking a break. Both actions have returned my sizable runtime to me. I have four runtimes hooked up and the disappearing libraries occurs when I got from one runime to another. Rebooting the program works for me.

Oh and I got Poser Pro when it was on sale here last month so I didn't get the 50 dollar price you paid.

Latest weird bug? When starting a new scene with a blank slate, the program asks for a texture. I click it through it telling it to ignore the texture and the scene starts. Rebooting the program solves the problem.

Is anyone else having this problem with the morph tool?

When I make a stroke with the tool, all morphs on the geometry turn off...but just for the duration of the stroke...then they turn back on, with the additional result of the stroke. This means I can't see what the stroke is doing until I'm finished applying it. It makes the tool nearly impossible to use.

I'm running 11.0.5.32974 on Windows 7 SP1 (fully updated) and my video card is an nVidia GForce GTX 1060 with driver version 21.21.13.7586.

Any clue would be helpful as I'm tired of having to go back to Poser Pro GameDev to do all my morphing.

Have you installed the morphs in the same runtime as the figure and have you run the batch file to initialize the morphs. These are the two most common reasons why morphs don't work on gen4 figures in Poser.

Well that probably answers your question as to why the morphs are not working. There are .bat files with the gen4 characters and their morphs. They must be run after you install the base figure and each time you add a morph package. The old DAZ installers did this automatically but I have no experience with any recent changes to their product installation. I don't use the software. The .bat files will be in a !DAZ folder and look something like DzCreateExpFiles and will be marked with a M4 for Michael, V4 for Victoria, and so on.

I was able to use the bat file and load the morphs. A lot of things are missing like hand grasp and a lot of things don't work at all like head size. And even though I put search on shallow or none the program loads few scenes or freezes to a stop with the time indicator spinning forever. I would reload Poser 7 but my house burnt to the ground in the Gatlinburg fire along with my computers and software. I've been working on this Poser pro 11 for a couple of weeks now and it's continually problematic. Very disappointed.

I have a huge problem with Poser 11. When I go to render it gets stuck on "Starting" I can't cancel the render nor can I close the program. I have to start a task manager and end the process . When I open Poser 11 back up the render is completed or at least partially completed in the render cache.

That's been reported to SM. I think they said the next update should take care of it. The recommended workaround is to make sure you're not rendering in a separate process. It might help some.

New problem after loading latest upgrade (SR6). Heading of 'parameters' list does not change as quickly as it did; there is a distinct delay between choosing a body part from the figures list and the name of the part appearing above its parameter list. This delay increases as more characters are added to a scene.
