Ok, that shouldn't be an issue. Thank you both for taking the time to comment. It might make more sense from a user-friendliness standpoint to split it anyway. So that would be one file with just the prop and its poses/morphs , templates and geometry files, for those that have no interest in textures, or would only end up using their own regardless. Additional files could contain only the runtime textures, material presets and necessary data files , with a revised readme...
Yes, thank you for your input, and you are right. Let me also review myself. When I put all the files together and looked at what the size came to, I almost snorted my coffee. I have a checklist of things I'm going to do differently for my next piece from what I've learned by all this. It's the textures. Or rather, its the way I set them up. I modeled the item trying to squeeze as much texel density out of the uv maps as possible, for each little element, even where it would have made more sense to use a simple shader. For example I have some of the hardware, nuts bolts washers etc. which can only be seen in extreme close-ups textured on separate maps. In hindsight, I doubt anyone is going to zoom a centimeter away from the rubber grommet and inspect the roughness of it, haha.
So, I definitely need a break from this particular project for the time being, but I should like to revamp it at some point in the near future to be more resource efficient.
Please - no coffee snorting. It's bad for your health, although it does amuse us too. Many thanks for your hard efforts. This does look very realistic.

Thank you Bryster. Now I feel like I need to render an office scene of some poor employee looking at their evaluation or something, and spewing a drink into the cubicle.
So here is a quick update on where the project stands and where it is going.
This door has been almost completely re-worked, optimized, and organized. The prop is now rigged with both left and right hand swing (120, 90, 60, 30, 0 degree open-close poses), with new materials, some elements now compatible with subd, and a double door subset with double wide jamb prop. Textures are chopped in half, some have been condensed and I took the liberty of saving out my masks in substance for the important bits. For example the jamb and door panels have a directional mask, for texturing wood grain (doubtful you would build the vertical panels of a door from a crosscut rip of mahogany, for example..). Some of the hardware is masked as well.
The promo scene I originally included transformed into me modelling transoms and windows for the door, with the same modern style
I do love the fact that you have got the grain of the wood to run in the right direction on all the componant parts!

Hi! So I'm putting the finishing touches on my first freebie item, and getting ready to upload it for sharing. I've a thread going already on the Daz website as well as some previews of the prop on my Deviantart.com profile.
I would very much like Renderosity to be the place where I share my work. I've worked very hard to bring this prop to completion, learned much in the process, and feel much better about my upcoming products, and ongoing projects.
That said, I would like to ask for some advice about posting freestuff on Renderosity. With my 4k textures included my file download is way over the 300 mb recommendation for posting. I am working on chopping down some dead weight but I have the sinking feeling that there is no way to get it below 300 mb without losing something essential.
Any suggestions? It would be a shame if the item could not be on my freestuff page...
Thank you regardless, I love this community.
