UV mapping and morphs are separate things, creating a new UV set shouldn't affect any other aspect of the model (given the right settings in the mapping software, anyway). DS does have the ability to load new UVs, though I'm not sure how that will work with a legacy item like Victoria 4 - you certainly wouldn't be able to save as a UV asset.
I haven't done this, but you could geograft a full v4 figure mesh with new uv mapping parameters onto an existing v4 figure. The existing figure would take the morphs. The geograft gets the maps. You still want texture maps to be square, to have enough resolution over the whole figure, and to waste as little area as possible in your maps. If it goes well, it might make a good product.

I have been using v4 for a long time now but always found the uv map to add texture a little too difficult. If I remember correctly Poser figures back in the day had texture maps that were pretty much front view and back view of the whole body. Is there a way to do that kind of texture for v4 without messing up any morphs?
