Subject: Warning: Don't lose your serial number

I bought Poser Pro from Smith Micro about seven years ago and had been using it regularly, upgrading whenever a new version was released. When I upgraded to the Bondware version I suddenly had problems* which I invested a great deal of time trying to resolve before finally giving up last December. I put my 3D projects on hold because Poser was simply too frustrating to work with. Yesterday I decided to see if the problems had been resolved. I downloaded 11.3.818 and then realized that I needed the serial number. So I opened the previously installed 11.2 version and saw that the serial number was missing from that as well. I checked my emails to find it on the Smith Micro receipt and realized I'd deleted the old emails. So I contacted Bondware who suggested I contact Smith Micro. Seriously, does anyone think Smith Micro would bother to respond when they don't even own the app now, even if they still have the information? Why doesn't Bondware have the information? Fortunately, I was able to retrieve the serial number from a screen capture I'd forgotten about, but Poser still has the same problems.

  • The most annoying of which is that any dialogue boxes (open a file, save as, load a texture in the material room, navigate to a missing obj file, etc.) come with a one minute delay for each action. Click then wait a minute for something to happen, click a subfolder then wait another minute. FYI, I'm using a MacBook Pro, Mojave 10.14.6, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3. During this one minute delay the Mac system is completely frozen, meaning the keyboard doesn't respond so I can't even do a forced quit. I've been using Macs for twenty five years and this has never happened with any other app. Being able to force quit is something I could always do without fail. Also my Wacom tablet stops working immediately when any dialogue box pops up.

Anytime anyone needs a previous serial number they can contact the admin@posersoftware.com address or the store@posersoftware.com address and we can help locate those for you. We do have those records. ๐Ÿ˜„

If you are having technical issues as described above, please submit a support ticket HERE and they can help you with that.

@Jenn, that's good to know. Mergers and transitions often lose or delete such information.

Thank you, Jenn. I've submitted another ticket describing the technical issues. Hope I have better luck than I did submitting a ticket to ask for my serial number and being told to ask Smith Micro.

Here's an update: I received a suggestion from Bondware to check permissions. Changing permissions for "everyone" from "Read only" to "Read and Write" did the trick and now everything works as it should. For some reason it had defaulted to "Read only" after updating to Bondware's version.

It may not have been Poser, as recent Win'10 update coincided with a zillion of my E: & F: folders becoming 'partly read only', that box with a central dot. I have yet to find a way to clear them. Folders contain no locked 'hidden' or 'system' files, their flag just will not un-set...
