Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 29 12:37 pm)
Oh.
Just lower the specular a bit on the light in the material room. Can you do that in Superfly? Actually I don't think you can. You can't modulate a lights diffuse with an add node in Superfly like you can in Firefly so maybe it's not possible. The only other option would be to change the blinn reflectivity on your skin materials I guess. I don't know your material set up. A roughness map would help alot. Probably definitely hborre could give better advice on that front.
My advice was going to be to either get a more sheer sort of drape on the dress, cloth density probably, or use the morph brush to suggest it isn't as stiff as it appears... I think just pushing the one side of the hem in a bit closer to the thigh would help for a more naturalistic look but that's probably just being nitpicky. These are the things I fret about.
So kind of you to mention me in reference to the lighting situation. Just to touch upon that indoor render, there are 2 possible solutions to get a more realistic image. First, consider the light source(s) and what you want to convey in terms of set illumination. There is definitely a strong light source situated above, however, it appears too bright and overpowering. It would have been better if the scene was lit with different off-camera light sources to add some definition to the room and the model. A smaller light source above with inverse square for light falloff; off-camera lights at chest level to simulate ambient illumination from other rooms or table lamps. Anything to add interest to the scene painted with lights and shadows. The best example is to observe your own physical environment and observe how lights cast shadows and shapes.
Second, try to tune the specularity down; the only times you have glistening skin is when you are wet or smeared with oil. A specular map can help if it is not too contrasty and needs to be corrected with grayscale filtering. Again, the best example is examining your own skin and observing how it responds to average lighting conditions. You will find that you are not as reflective as seen in some of those renders.
Whenever I look through the gallery, I find some images that just do not look right for some reason. And if it doesn't look right then something is definitely wrong with the setup.
I will try to tone down the light itself, because the skin was done with EZSkin and I don't want to go through V4's NUMEROUS mats to change it. I think toning down the area light will get me what I need. I cranked it up to 300 and it probably would have been good with 100.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
And yeah, I don't hang on projects too long because I get bored waiting for someone to respond, so I move on to other things while I am waiting.
If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.
Some other users have complained about the specularity set too high with the EZSkin shaders; that is also my assessment so I tone down the specularity on the Blinn node. The image below is a converted skin texture from V4 to Dawn with EZSkin applied. I have been tweaking the shaders with the texture to some satisfaction. Some shaders got completely reworked like the eyes and the teeth. I've also been experimenting with layers and tattoos.
Yeah, it was inspired by my mom. She was always pointing to the door and asking us if we were born in a barn. It was usually me or my brother leaving it open as we ran through the house. We never had the nerve to smart off to her when she asked that question. Just went back and closed the door.

That being said, your Mom - sorry your character - is gorgeous
It's A4, and I just dialed down her face and head to close to "realistic" and added a few other tweaks. I like her and I will probably use her for future projects. This was a lighting test that I failed the first time around.

So I was looking at that V4 thread and the topic of sunglasses came up. It made me think of that old Kubrick Lolita poster with the heart shaped sunglasses. I thought to myself well surely someone made those, right? So I did a search and there was only one Poser result and those are no longer available.
https://poserdazfreebies.miraheze.org/wiki/Lolita_Glasses
So I made it. It's not UV'd (does something like this need UVs really) but it's got materials for the frames, lenses (which have thickness), arm accents (they're little hearts that would look good with a metal shader I think), and the arms, or whatever they're called. They're not perfect but a decent enough approximation, I'm better at organic stuff than hard surface.
It's just an obj and a mtl file. Import it and it's a prop that fits V4. Maybe you might want a copy? I'll leave the link up for a day and then x poof x...
I am going to go with these glasses for Kara. But not that outfit. I have to find something else that will not have issues with bending, as she is about to get her butt kicked by her evil doppelganger. So I need a good outfit for this. I don't have much, and searching for something in the market places of various sites reveals a lot of slut wear and not much else.
Maybe I can do some refitting in Poser and do a donor rig. I am not sure.

I think maybe something casual. I am going to go back and watch a few episodes of the Supergirl series and try to get some ideas from the outfits that Melissa Benoist was wearing as Kara. What do you want her to be wearing?
And yeah, I will be doing my own posing for this, since it's a superhero battle and not your average cat fight.

I loaded your Lolita glasses into my lighting scene, and they fit her perfectly. I was going to render it, but I remembered that one took most of the night to finish, so maybe I will let it render tomorrow when I am busy with a few household chores before I go back to work on Wednesday. Then I will post it here. They make my A4 morph look really cute...

You want to see an excerpt from my Supergirl's, SG(W), epic final confrontation with Gorilla Grod at the Oregon Zoo? I don't want to reveal too much from issue 3, wherein Kara goes into hiding in Lincoln Park, gets a job as a folk singer at a dive bar, is given a bit role in the Clint Eastwood film 'every which way but loose', has a tumultuous affair with Eastwood, and ends up embroiled in a conflict involving animal rights that asks some difficult philosophical questions and...

I will be running my render this morning. I got up early because my dog was complaining that he wanted to go out and do his business. I made a cup of coffee and I am just waiting for the rest of the house to get up. Then I am off to the races. Figuratively.

Where can I find an outfit that V4 can wear as Kara Danvers? Mostly what I am finding is slut wear and I can't find anything 'business suit' leaning. I looked into how they dressed Melissa Benoist for the tv series, but that wasn't much help.
I could model something, work on getting good topology for rigging... but that would take a lot more time than I really want to spend on this.
In case you missed it, I was asked if I could do a comic book style scene recreating the Superman 3 fight Clark vs Superman in the auto wrecking yard. I am going to do it in an abandoned area, and have to model some breakaway walls and such. It's the reason for the resurgence of the Supergirl suits I was making. The need for the glasses and what-not.
But I need a decent outfit for Kara. That school girl outfit for A4 was ok, but the morphs were hard to adjust to replicate the body I am using for both characters.
I don't want to pay for it, so I may end up having to model something anyhow... damn

When it comes to Vic4's clothes, one vendor that sells clothes with the best versatility and a great number of morphs to be able to adapt is 3D-Age.Where can I find an outfit that V4 can wear as Kara Danvers? Here on RendoI don't want to have to buy anything for a one-off project, but those do look pretty good. Especially the bottom one.
Where do they sell that stuff?

I guess I will try to fix this up and see if I can make it work. It was a very fast throw together, and I tried out some things I hadn't done before, like folding the shirt on itself and adding buttons. I should have modeled in the seams on the arms and the sides. I may still do that. Just a simple color and a noise node for texture. It's only a test. And she doesn't have anything on her bottom. I am still trying to figure that one out.

I need to redo it, and give it the seams and a Chinese collar. And then I need to make the cuffs just a bit smaller. I found out when I did the cloth sim that the shirt will open as it drapes, so I had to add constrained groups there and in the cuffs so they would retain their shape. But I can do this with a bit of time.

So I went with yoga pants because, well why not? I don't have any issues with them creation-wise, and I see them everywhere in real life.
I think I am going to have to add the buttons on that shirt as individual props. You can see one of them is intersecting the shirt and I am not sure how to get it back to the surface. Maybe if they are individual props on the shirt I can move them into place after a simulation. This isn't desired for animation of course, but this will be a comic, so still images.

That looks awesome.I went back to the Lolita shades image and completed the scene. I used a two-point light system created by Ghostship except I converted the Area lights to Blackbody illumination with a warm temperature; added some hair with Ghostship texture and a tattoo to complete the look.
Do you think the clothes I create will do the trick? I will obviously change the color schemes and add a better bump map. But I am not sure if this says "professional reporter" or not...
If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.
Wow, that's a good question considering that Kara works for a Metropolitan newspaper; extremely casual clothing might not be suitable for office attire. Dresses, skirts and blouses, and business suits would seem more appropriate for credibility. However, investigative reporters seem to follow a different dress code to better blend into their environment, so you may need to decide what type of reporter Kara is going to be up to this point in your story.

I was playing with my Wiley Kitt and came up with this image. I added Miki 4 to show her to scale vs the default V4 that she came from. The whole costume is made, but I didn't feel like adding it or even adding the textures I made for it, so I added this Nanette Tredoux material to it. And Miki is wearing her Spider Gwen/Ghost Spider suit with the head material fully transparent.
