Hi... I've tried Mimic and it's ok... But there's some problems with it so I want to know if there's another program that's like Mimic but better? //imp/flatrate

I do not know of any other program that integrates with Poser like Mimic. What problems were you encountering? Maybe we can address them.

Well... Sometimes the mouth moved too fast and other times it didn't move at all... But I think i know why... It's probably because it's not English it's suposed to "talk" but Danish and there's a big difference... But... Well...

Probably the preferences in the Double Dutch plug in are at fault. I know when I tried to do some political caricatures they came out talking sense but only when I set the BS plug in to zero. smilie.gif

Best contact the folks at Mimic.

I wouldn't say it's just you, though. I have Mimic also, and had a number of problems, which I never could figure out. And that was with English.

LOL! Good one Phil!

it could be the sound files you use though, I found some that sound ok but mimic won't work with as there's a small amount of background noise or distortion.

How well Mimic works can also depend on the figure being used. With Victoria, for example, you need to spawn morph targets for OpenLips and Mouth F to compensate for the difference in geometry between Vicky and Posette. As for similar programs, you might look at Magpie or Magpie Pro (www.thirdwishsoftware.com). It doesn't export a pose file, but it looks like it exports text...with a little programming, I would guess it could be coverted to a pose file.

The particular problems I had with Mimic were alwaays whemn I was using voice tracks that had been sped up or slowed down, or pitch-shifted, which would probably jibe with c1rcle's explanation about noise, since I wasn't exactly in a noise-free environment, and the software I used, did in fact add some distortion and gain.

In the case of pitch-shifted files, you could always make the pose file with the unshifted track, then import the shifted track into Poser to make the final movie...

I've been experimenting quite a lot with Mimic. In addition to the above comments on having clean audio, each character having his/her own track with no overlaps, I've found that it sometimes works best to have short .wav files. Cut your audio file about .5 sec before the sound starts up then cut it off after the line of audio. If there is a pause then make two .wav files of it. It really doesn't like long stretches of silence at the beginning or end and it doesn't like breaks in the middle. Check out my FAQ for Mimic and IM me if you have more problems.
