Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 25 12:38 pm)
Well, before you reinstall, try going into the Runtime/Geometries folder. If you look for the .obj files for the models you're having trouble with, each .obj will have a corresponding .rsr in the same folder. Delete the .rsr's. That will force Poser to rebuild them, and does fix a lot of problems. But the image looks like it could be a different problem, I'm not sure. I ended up with an effect like that when I was creating my Duncan character: it happened when I kept making changes and resaving the .cr2. I could move the settings over manually to a "blank" cr2, resave and get rid of the gaps. But the first version, even though the morphs and settings were identical, ended up useless. I don't know what caused that. I guess a reinstall would fix it, though.
JeffH,
No Mac here. Win98 PIIi 933, 512, 32 MB Nvidia, etc., etc.
Don't know what happened. Just used Poser all day Saturday, fine as usual.
eirian, thought about that, at least in your first paragraph, but this is EVERY figure Will try a deleting a few of teh .rsr's, see what happens.
Starting to think I may have gotten a bug from somehere, though I like to think I'm protected, or perhaps moer likely a soft spot on the hard drive.
But life's an adventure, and hey, thanks.

Gee JeffH, I don't think I have Poser 4 still. That is, ProPack went over it. I could remove PP then (OUCH!) reinstall Poser 4 (will have to hunt down those updates, too) from the ground up. Wondering if I might have to reformat or replace my HD (OUCH! again) but I've everything backed up, a result of previous experience. Still, drastic as this seems, that would probably fix it, but sure would hate to still have the problem after all that. Thanks again.
When you see this type of problem, the most obvious questions are: 1.) If you're using "the regular Poser," have you installed the update to 4.03?! 2.) If using the Poser Pro Pack, did you install the latest Service Pack? Until you can say yes to both questions, don't waste your time doing anything else.
Everyone, thanks for all this great input. I did finally "fix(?)" it by resetting to factory state. Have had a preferred state set in ProPack since I got it months (a year?) ago and frankly never seem to have any of the problems I've seen mentioned around here.
I don't have the latest service pack updater - come to think of it I don't know if I ever got one - no problems to speak of over the course of time.
About the service packs, do I have to install them in order of release or can I just jump to the latest one and install that? Seems I read somewhere one needs to do the former.
Thanks again.

So I opened several old PeeZees, of which none have this. Then loaded into one of them one of the current figures, crashing that particular PeeZee.
So ran a lot of other different programs, i.e., Vue, Bryce 3, etc. No apparent abnormalities.
So anybody got any idea of this? Am about to reinstall, which I hope fixes it.
Thanks in advance.
