Subject: Help...WIP....stretching textures...

I'm working on this drum and I am pretty happy with the way the front looks; however, the texture seems to be wrapping and stretching and distorting over the sides. Is there anyway to remedy this? I also was trying to get a different look for the sides (where the skin wraps over and is stretched with leather thongs)but I couldn't figure out how to do it, so I scrapped the idea.

Any suggestions on the stretching and distorting?

You might run the model through UV Mapper and then develop a second texture for the side. Right now, it looks like youre applying this to the face of it, and the texture has no choice but to continue on around the side.

Dr. Geep, I have UV mapper...how do I "remap the UV's to cylinder"? Thanks, Joan

Start UVMapper. [menu] "File" ---> "Load Model" [menu] "Edit" ---> "New UV Map" ---> "Cylindrical" Do your thing (rearange, change size, etc.) [menu] "File" ---> "Save Model" [menu] "File" ---> "Save Texture Map" Exit UVMapper cheers, dr geep ;=]

You could also try to map it "BOX" style, this way you would have 2 textures for top and bottom. TMG

AActually, the best is "Cyllindrial - capped". That way, the sides would have the map for the sides, and it would be continuous, and the faces would each have a differrent map.

Thanks everyone, I got it to work and it looks pretty good. I may even upload it to free stuff! And thanks for the information about UV Mapper. I need to play around with it a little bit more. Joan
