What kinda model, there is a hirez female model for sale with what is her name....? Dina Dinah something like that. After you've finished up-rezing the model... You'll be faced with creating all your own Morph Targets You'll have to rig the model again. my 2 cents: Simply increasing the poly count willy-nilly will hardly amount to much. You'll probably see more profound results with a better texture map. Be sure you are anti-ailiasing the rendered image. I'm using Vicky 2 in Lightwave and she looks very very well real. You're probably not likeing what you see because Poser is well a great Poser and not a great rendering program. It doesn't even have ray tracing (invented long long ago).

Have you used Moray? If it's a "yes, for sure, I know this works", then sign me up, I want it. ;] I think, after reading these posts above, that it must be a smoothing problem, but I can't find a single utility to smooth a mesh.

Well, I haven't used the program you are so I can't say positively, but here's a comparison of the meshes between Posette, Vicki and Dina (Vina's mesh in the same poly count).Sigh It looks good, and I'm sure it's a great model. Unfortunately, it won't help me. I have an idea for a series of images, but the only charachter I've found so far that I can use is Enzio. Why? He looks like a regular old guy. I need "real people" charachters- I don't mean slightly imperfect, lol- I mean ones that look like me, or my friends. Ordinary.

You don't need a high poly count, you need an option to smooth an existing mesh. There are many options to convert a obj to PovRay format, for example different converters and different mesh formats. Some of them have a smooth option. There are also some utilities available (see link). If that is not enough try a google search with the keywords 'povray', 'mesh' and 'smooth'.Some time ago I got some good smooth renders from Povray, but now I use Cinema 4D and don't know which mesh formats or converters are best for the current PovRay version.
I bookmarked that to study. Cool. What I want, though, is to smooth an obj file and leave it as an obj file to import into Moray. (Maybe in my next lifetime I'll have time to learn POV. Personally, I think any text editing based system needs to get with the program, lol. Give me a GUI or forget it!)
i have no idea on how to smooth characters in an program but max, so i cant help ya there. artistically speaking, he is a great character though - love the face and hat/glasses. he does look like an ordinary joe :) although, he is a little built for an old man, heh. he needs a much larger belly and smaller shoulders ;) too bad the mike clothing pack has no body morphs included, and theres virtually no way to make mikes shoulders smaller. cheers, -gabriel

I think that PoseRay can do the stunt. It converts a Poser OBJ-File into POVRays format and makes an UDO-File for moray too. The models are smoothed then. Just follow the link to get an actual version.

If youre not worried about keeping the Poser materials settings intact you could try "Anim8or" which imports Poser geometry OBJs, and has a smoothing function which doubles the mesh when doing so. I have used it sucessfully on some famous hair Props, including the associated morphs, which re-applied perfectly. Its only foible is sometimes you have to open the OBJ in UVmapper first and save the OBJ out before Anim8or will read it. Dunno why but it works. Anim8or is free, but I

I tried Anim8oronce- I crashed it. ;] I have Poseay, I like it. I do not want to convert to POV, though. I hate dealing with native pov. I need to "see" what I'm doing. As for bryce- I can't spend that kind of money for one task- I wish I could! Hi, Gabriel! Isn't eh a wonderful charachter? I wrote Mychelle, the other creator, and asked if they could do more like that- he needs an old lady! What I could do about the shoulders is to increase everything else exponentially to make the shoulders look smaller by comparison, and scale down slightly- thanks for the idea. Still need to smooth the bloody thing! ;]
I still think you should use PoseRay. It creates an UDO-File so you CAN see the object in Moray. You don't have to fiddle with POVRay - Stuff. Just load the UDO-File ointo Povray. Without smothing you will need immense amounts of vertices to get your model smooth. I would think you would have to raise the polys by 100 to get s smooth model without smoothing the normals. If you do not have LOTS of ram, the render will take incredibly long.

Poseray produces UDO-Files as well. UDO is just a file for Moray, POVRay uses the converted Povray - Source. Moray in it's actual Version does AFAIK not the new 3.5 Beta, but if you have MegaPOV it could work. POVRay <3.5 does not support UV-Mapping, so you cannot use normal Textures. But MegaPOV and POV 3.5 can do this. Since I never bought Moray, I have not much experience what can be done with it. I tested it a while ago, and i managed to get some renders done, but I did some changes in the sourcefile too. But the converter I used was much inferior to the actual Poseray-Version. I would give it a try.

I know, that's the opposite of what most people want. I'm wierd that way. ;] Ronmolina mentioned in another thread that the "Dina" charachter is rather hi-poly. Here's my problem. I want polys- the more polys, the better. I've tried to export Vicky (I may have v1, not v2) as an .obj file, and the polygons end up being very evident. Since I haven't found a way to increase the polycount on an exported poser file, could anyone tell me which charachters are the highest polycount? Thanks!
