Did not read each and every post of this thread...but did try to follow the "Poser alienation" theme.Maybe in the long run of things it is up to the Poser community to stir up greater interest in that area within the Animotions community. I know Jack was working over at 'rotica to get a cross over between Poser and KiSSme, maybe that will actually happen at the new site. I hang out at the Poser newsgroup quite a bit and notice that there is a lot of cross posting between the Poser ng and other 3d groups such as Bryce, etc. Did I confuse the issue? Not sure, but I think the point I am trying to make is the more diversivied art communities we have the greater our learning opportunities increase if we participate.

Congrats Jack and Diane, it sounds wonderfully refreshing, I am going to visit now.

Mike you took the thoughts out of my head and the words out of my mouth. Thank you.

Good Luck with the site
John

missed this whole thread yesterday...check my email and find ebot nitice about changing password for animotions...flipped cause someone using my email account. ~L~ then talked with Stormrage and found out what animotions is. what a load of stress gone. ~l~ unfortunately, gaming and comics / cartoons / anime aren't part of my interests, so won't be often there.

Gee, I thought this was one man's attempt to generate interest in a site or business. I thought this was a public forum where people could voice their concerns, thoughts, feelings and attitudes. Unfortunately, this new AniMotions site has gotten off to a tainted start, with people who don't seem willing to tolerate any deviation from the "group mentality." Jack, you might actually consider using your intellect and salesmanship to gain customers or followers. That usually works the best. Now stop playing the suffering martyr who finally lost his patience, and turn this around with some serious intellectual interchange. Act like you really want to sell your new enterprise to me, and others who likely feel the same way. Message671422.jpg

Congrats & Good Luck to all at AniMotions. ...funny how this thread gives me a sense of Deja vu... Ron...is nothing ever good enough for you? Let them be. waits for the ebots to roll in.....

I heartily applaud the new direction. After 15 years in the computer gaming industry, I'd like to shake most of my hidebound colleagues out of their preconceived ideas that the more you spend on a program, the more professional it is bound to be. :ptui: Concentrating upon the quality of the output is a lot more healthy than whining or bragging about the tools. Maybe if there was a site like this, with finished work posted to be admired, more of my colleagues would "get it". And if the naysayers and sticks in the mud don't approve, who gives a fig? Let's just go and accomplish something! Carolly

Thank you Jack and Diane (hehe it makes me think of George Thorogood, I bet you get sick of hearing that) for opening a new site that I will love to visit. I agree that there are quite a few very good sites that focus heavily on the nuts and bolts of Poser. I have not bought Poser yet because I want to see a lot of end results. I think your site will be very helpful to me. I wish you the best of luck. I see that you own Renderotica too. Does that do well? I might visit it, but the last time I looked at sexy pictures, my cat ran away. haha just kidding I am allergic to cats and chickens. Good Luck.

Hello Again Jack! Hi Diane! Good luck with the site! What happened to the "E" in JED?

Mr Knights - First of all I want to say that this is not a public attack, this is an honest question or two between to people. I am puzzled about something. Why do you find it to be a need to argue publicly all the time and insult people. I feel very sad when I see people saying bad things about each other. Especially over something so simple as the theme of a web site. If every web site were the same, it would get pretty boring. I like all of the different sites because each one has something that the other one doesn't. I have seen you start fights in many places and then act like you are the one being picked on when people get mad at you. Isn't it true that you are the first and only person to be publicly banned from 3DCommune? I just signed up there and felt very bad that one of the first things I saw reading the Poser was a big fight in which you were banned. I read A man named Marc telling you to get rid of your stuff and leave. I put a link to that below. I hope that is ok. I do not want anyone in charge to get mad at me on my first day.

You Said: "Jack, you might actually consider using your intellect and salesmanship to gain customers or followers. That usually works the best. Now stop playing the suffering martyr who finally lost his patience, and turn this around with some serious intellectual interchange." Sounds like an insult to me.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Sat, 01 June 2002 at 2:19 AM

Hey, Doug! Do those villains have to be ones from comic books... or can they be ones from our own Champions games? Mine tend to be better developed and a bit more colorful than the ones in the books. Carolly, evil(tm) GM

DTHUREGRIF ( ) posted Sat, 01 June 2002 at 3:31 AM

Well-earned congrats to all of you guys and gals of the DSI, Diane, Jack and all the rest of ya! You've come a long way, and far may you go. Cool site, cool concept. Tried to join up, but I was already a member as an ex-GRC member - nice touch ;o) Disney and Warner - look out ;o)

Jaqui ( ) posted Sat, 01 June 2002 at 7:03 AM

heya, Jack, Dianne, and associates. been emailing someone at eovia, the company that ows carrara and amapi, they were asking about gaming / fantasy artwork, sent them to the Animotions site. your members could be selectivly offered positions with them creating the graphics for a game they are working on. ( just my impression from the conversation ) better let the membership know so they can get the galleries filled with samples. ~g~

I was there yesterday and I think it's great to focus on the end use. I'm also looking forward to learning more about KISS, I'vetried it a couple of times and it's fun.

OOOOH, some of my talented fellow artists might find new career paths out of the birth of AniMotions. Now that would be one excellent deal!!! I wish you all "Best Fortune!" Ron Message671414.jpg

just what is KISS? I see it mentioned at 'rotica and now Animotions but I'm totally in the dark again. Rob

lgrant ( ) posted Sat, 01 June 2002 at 1:20 PM

Here's what I posted in another forum last time someone asked that. I'll just repost it here, with a few modifications, rather than rewriting it from scratch. -------------------------------- KISS (the KIsekae Set System) is kind of like the Colorforms toys that were around when I was a kid, where there were people printed on a cardboard background, and clothes made of a flat, clingly plastic that could be stuck on the people to dress them. A typical KISS set consists of a 2D image of a girl, with several layers (cels) on top of it, with a piece of clothing on each layer. By sliding the layers back and forth, you can dress the girl. The layers on top hide the layers below, so underwear would be on a layer below outerwear. By splitting a piece of clothing into two layers, it is possible to see the front and the front part of the back when it is off the model, then when it is slid on the model the back part is hidden. It is possible to have clothes snap into place when they are moved towards the model. FKISS (French KISS) adds a bunch of special effects...sound effects can be triggered when spots on the board are clicked, timers can trigger blinking and such, parts can move by themselves. There is a built-in scripting language that controls what goes on in the scene. The cels can be made in Photoshop. There is a plug-in available that saves images in the .CEL format used by KISS. I ran into a guy on the 'net the other day who was using Poser to make renders of characters, that he then turned into KISS cels in Photoshop. Here's a few links to get you started: http://geneticnoise.clanpages.com/kiss/t1.html http://www.msen.com/~crandall/playkiss.html http://www.xs4all.nl/~calezane/kisspage.htm http://otakuworld.com/index.html?/kiss/dolls/lindex.htm?http://otakuworld.com/kiss/dolls/fkiss.htm --------------------------------------------------- Lynn Grant Castle Development Group

KiSS (the Kisekae Set system) is a popular, fun and easy paper doll game for computer users. You can get more information about the KiSS program and also download the program (which is a free download), characters and more at Dov Sherman's website: Otaku World by clicking the link above!! Jack

Opps, cross posted with you Lynn, nice explanation!! Jack

Heh, I am afraid to go out into the sun anymore, I am afraid I would turn to ash if I did... that and I think having alabaster skin is pretty cool, the bad news is I can't wear shorts out in public anymore, I am afraid I would blind people with my super white legs!! :o) Jack

c1rcle ( ) posted Sun, 02 June 2002 at 11:16 AM

you read too much anne rice :) but you're right blonde hair and alabaster skin with glowing violet eyes is cool. Rob

mondoxjake ( ) posted Sun, 02 June 2002 at 8:44 PM

Ref: Kiss files...just want to mention in addition to what is posted here there are also some very active "games" available in this format. For the prime example check out The Owl's free Scarecrow games..[help me here, Jack..I can't seem to locate the URL!].

Jack D. Kammerer ( ) posted Sun, 02 June 2002 at 11:08 PM

Hey Jake, the only place that I've seen The Owl's... err... more "adult" versions of KiSS file sets (which are indeed very detailed and expansive games... but also for adult users of the KiSS program) is on Dov Sherman's Otaku World web site (link provided above). But Jake is right, Owl's KiSS sets are in game format. Including multilevels, and some require allot of puzzle solving to completely make it through them, but once done, the rewards are delightful works of cel animation genius. Certainly well worth looking into if you are an adult! :o) Jack
