That's the link to the theme annoucement.he is screaming the image is a combination of ideas from me and my girlfriend i did this tutorial on making lights like that in Bryce, and i had the idea of someone crouching under the window then my girlfriend had the idea of him sitting on a chair, staring at the light, with the demons in his mind surrounding him i combined the two the 'demon', is his guilt the bursting light is what he has been denied he can't face it, because it was his fault he ended up there
i dont get how u ppl get like a full hour of renderertime on simple pics like that? even if i have ultra detailed shadows and volumetric lights all of my renderers take MAX 20min, and i only got a 868mhz 128mb ram geforce 3 titanium, like wtf every rendering i see i hear bout ppl saying how it took them hours, i just dont get it, what do u ppl have? a 300mhz?? heh sowwie im just confused
Well, Tibbe, after looking at your gallery, I see why most of your images take 20min max to render. Most of my images render in under 20 as well. But keep in mind that when you a) have multiple light sources, b) have raytrace reflective surfaces and c) have reflective/refractive surfaces, render time goes up exponentially. Add to this the complexity of the object (# polys, etc.) and there can be a large render time. KingHeroical has @20 light sources in his render, and it looks like the glass is refractive. If he is using Bryce, I'm a little impressed it took only an hour...
Modeled and rendered in ZBrush (the head turned out as sort of a later iteration of the first thing I modeled in that application, but purely by accident; I didn't start in on it until I wandered through here and saw this challenge), with some touchup in Photoshop. Four light sources.
(Also, hi; this is my first post here, though I've been lurking on and off for, er, two or three years.)
There were quite a few entries this month.. and a lot of unique takes on how to get this done. First off, thanks to Gorodin for a very new and inventive challenge. Quite an interesting undertaking once you got started, only working with lights to add the feeling and color to the scenes. A lot of great entries as well, very impressive works all the way around. Sorry that I wasnt able to group all the entries into a formal list for you this time, been very busy working but they are all here in (or linked) in this thread So.. on with the voting. My vote, after much though and going from one to another, finally landed on: Baztd. Textures are great, and it really took a while to see that indeed he had done things in gray and only used a few lights to achieve the colored look. Fantastic.
