This is really just in it's infant stages and really haven't spent to much on the website. It is here just so people can get an idea of what the overall plan is. http://home.carolina.rr.com/kattman/FreeMarketFamily/

I'm hoping this will not be restricted to non commercial use. I'd also suggest that anyone selling or distributing an item based on the mesh be required to provide a read-me with an URL to the original figure.

Freakachu, The idea is for free market. So if you want to do a comercial render with it you are free to do so. As for the Read-me, well I'm still working on some of the wording on that page, and there will be a requirement of a text file for re-distributation. You will notice I didn't say it was public domain.

Wish I was good enough to be able to help out on this, good luck with the figure :) Rob

"The mesh itself will not be considered public domain as it will be owned by the entire group that works on it, but it will be free from copyrights" Dude, you need to figure out your legalese. ;) Public domain means "free from copyrights", so you've totally contradicted yourself leaving it questionable whether you're retaining any rights at all. Perhaps you should consider an "open source" model for the licensing. I am concerned that you feel male and female figures can be reasonably created from the same mesh unless you plan on leaving out part of the man's anatomy and don't think attractive breasts are important. I think you should consider anatomically correct base male and base female meshs that include these features natively and have been pre-proportioned appropriately for their gender (shoulder to waist to hip). I don't think morphing alone is ever going to be able to produce acceptable results for these differences.

It's not an issue of morphing alone. Think about the Poser man currently. His default mesh has no genitals. Using OBJ file swapping gives you this. With that idea, a males and females hip are slightly different from one another but not by to much, easy to morph from one to the other on a default non-genital hip mesh. Perhaps open source is what I mean here. Like I said I am still working on the terminology on it. And free from copyrights does not mean public domain. If someone tries to claim to work as thiers and sell it as such they can still be sued. If it were public domain then there would be no ownership at all to counter this. That is essentially what Open source does, so I should change that wording, probably this evening.

I think this is a great idea -- long overdue. People are so obsessed with Mike and Vicky that I believe a lot of folks think they're an integral part of Poser. Some people even think that DAZ actually OWNS Poser instead of Curious Labs. We need to get less-DAZ centric in this community. Keep up the good work.

"And free from copyrights does not mean public domain. If someone tries to claim to work as thiers and sell it as such they can still be sued." I'm sorry, but yes it does. I suggest you look up public domain and you will find that it literally means "free of copyright". When something is free of copyright it means anyone can do anything they want with it, including sell it for profit, and there isn't anything you can do about it. You may want to post some queries in the copyright forum. Explain exactly what you want the restrictions and distribution to be and perhaps Jeny or Harbinger will point you toward an appropriate type of licensing for it. Someone quite a while back (can't remember who) asked some questions about an open source type license to use with store products. Search that forum for open source and you may find some relevant info.

Ok scifiguy I will do that. It;s a good thing I'm hashing through the liscensing and organization part first and foremost before any other work is done.
