No, Huolong, the environment prop is the background seen behind the buildings (the mountains and sky). At least, I assume that's the case. I'm glad to see that Poser is finally catching up with the gaming community. Skyboxes are a good way to enhance a scene. Are the clouds applied to a separate layer from the sky? That would be fantastic for animation.
You are correct on both counts Little Dargon. Whaashaaa! The sky boxes and the cloud layer are manipulated seperately via morph dials.

Trying not to be thick here, but from what I saw of the picture and from what I have read, but isnt this just basically an old LWMAX etc trick pulled into poser, eg. a series of layered sphere like objects that continually rotate to give the effect of a moving sky? - If so, I think its a bit much to ask someone to pay for a set of spheres. Then again, I never saw the attraction in having a curved plain for x amount of dollars (eg the cyclorama et al)

No VIDandCGI, LisaB, it's not. And personally, I think your Summer Garden set would look absolutely wonderful in it, with a peaceful azure sky, lightly feathered with clouds, and a romantic moon gazing upon the part-goers. There is rather more to it than just "a series of sphere like objects" and as accomplished modellers yourselves, I would suspect that you are fully aware of this. And with your readily apparent experience with textures, you will also be aware of the inherant difficulties involved with not only making everything look right, but also operate correctly too. I fully understand that with the modellings skills you have, you have no need of such items, but i would presume to suggest that not everyone has the same level of proficiency. For example, I know people who make the most amazing renders, but can't create the raw models to save their lives. That is no disrespect to them-everyone has differant things they are good at. WorldZ just makes life easier for the Poser user.Attached Link: http://www.posercity.com
It's an environment, ground plane, geosphere, poseable sky and cloud layers. Here's another render. You can see Daz 3D's Architure building and VIDandCGI and LisaB's Summer Garden prop in the scene to give you an idea of the props scale. It's basically an adjuistable world to put your scene inside of.If you want to up your content game, get schooled to be a pro with Sixus1 Mentoring today!

Omnedon-on a p2 celeron 400, it will render a 800x600 scene, at 144 dpi, with two characters in around 3 minutes...and that was with a 16meg graphic card. the image that the link leads to, was rendered at 96 dpi on an Athlon 1.7g with a 64meg gForce 4, and took all of 15 seconds. If you choose to render at 72 dpi with anti-alias turned off, a render in the main window can be turned around in a couple of minutes at most, even on low spec machines.Attached Link: http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=215048
Jackson- the pack comes with two complete, fully textured enviroments, WorldZ and WorldZ of Ice, which each have 6 pre-set "poses". The textures are interchangeable, and like any other Poser object, they can indeed be retextured.Looks fascinating - Does it come with any lush, green, living-look ground textures? - Is there a screen-cap of the props in wireframe froma a distance? I'd really like to be able to better envision it's potential. - The misty mountains in post 12 look incredible; are they a 2D projection or actually modeled? - Are there other worldZ theme paks planned yet? - Perhaps underseas, farmlands, or alien worlds?

Another sample doing double duty by showing the nude version of Lt. Nielsen for scifiguy. I couldn't bring myself to do one of those anatomical shots. The pants on the chic are by Philc for a new suit/weapons project we're working on currently, textured my muaaa! If you want to up your content game, get schooled to be a pro with Sixus1 Mentoring today!

In typical yank fashion, I wasn't able to resist jumping the gun on this release, which I think will really shake things up a bit for backdrop users. Worldz is available at PoserCity.com right now! As an added bonus for buying before this item becomes available throughout the community, purchasers through Poser City get a significant mystery bonus item from the Poser City store through the 1st. I'd love to tell ya what it is, but, it wouldn't be a mystery bonus item then would it? I can tell you it retails for quite a bit more than the Worldz product. For $10, can you afford not buy this awesome environment tool?If you want to up your content game, get schooled to be a pro with Sixus1 Mentoring today!

3DModelz has been kind enough to provide me with a preview of a new environment prop they're putting out called, "3DWorldz". I've played with it a few hours and can already tell you that it's going to make an impact. Finally, someone has improved on Nerd's original idea with the backdrop instead of just blatantly ripping him off.
Essentially, it's a large sphere big enough to build your entire scene, with props and all inside of. But, it has layered planes and transmaps which really sell the illusion of distance.
I am totally impressed with this. Can ya tell?
Where can you buy it? You can't yet. :) Sike!. But it will be available on Poser City July 29th, and then on Rosity in August for around $10 - $12 bucks. Amazing!
These guys are ones to watch now that they've started creating Poser products.
