Love's Quest Mysterious treasure, my mind's intrigued. Inquisitive thoughts, I am besieged. Knowing that there is so much more. Aching, so, with desire to explore. Striking out on a perilous trail, Hearts designs, so tender, so frail. One false step and all is lost, Rewards are worth the pending cost. To know such beauty and never quest Leaves an empty space within my chest. Fears controlled, my pen in hand, Poetic verse will aid my plan. Shining light into the dark, Fearless adventurer, I embark. Such wondrous things there to discover, A treasure trove waits under cover. Would love to know what your interpretations are and any constructive insights.

pairings Aching so...with Rewards so ...worth I think a quatrain may not be the best construction here. One stanza of free verse might be better. Also watch the difference between emphatic words and parenthetic words such as Mysterious treasure(emphatic the voice would be raised)my mind's intrigued(parenthetic the voice lowered). with desire(3) parenthetic should be seperated out by commas so it should be Aching so, with desire, to explore. Do you see what I'm trying to say? Keep up the good work don't be shy. Do it once mur(ouch). Give it another try. poetic liscence #z230 781 422 845.

I find sometimes that working in a set meter and rhyme makes the flow and expression of a piece stilted and awkward. I agree with tjames, try this idea in free verse. You have a good start, just needs some smoothing out. Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Anyone who can play the bagpipes knows what sounds good and what doesn't so listen to what Caledonia is saying.

Thanks, tjames! You know, however, one of my friends swears that I am tone deaf and compares playing pipes to strangling a cat!

OK, here goes my interpretation: Love is held by the writer to be one of the utmost goals to attain but it also has the potential to bring great sadness should failure be found instead. The writer decides it is worth the danger and sets out on a plan (step one)... writing something for the person of the writer's desires. In other words, the writer is sweet on someone...hehe. And writing a love poem presents a relatively safe way to begin his journey. Of course, I could be wrong. Like that's ever happened! (grin) I think it reads pretty well. A tempo here or there. But, as I have said, I barely qualify to discuss story-telling. The ability to discuss poetry is much farther down the scale of my talent. PS: Considering your name and the similar poems you write, are you lonely? (slaps self for being nosey)

Hmmm..no honestly I cant say I am lonely. Yes I have felt the pangs of love and love lost and find that it is from there that my best inspirations come. This poem was really not written for anyone or for a specific instance it was just.. there .. in my head I imagine it is like when others see a story or a character, except I dont see those, I see poems. PS:As to the name. It is a shortened version of one I use on msn.

Tj yes your right about commas.. and if I could type as well as I think... or think as well as I read.. it would indeed be as you suggested. Hmmm..free verse... that would be like Stephen King writing childrens stories .. he he he.. not something I think I could make myself do.

The rhymes are quite clever, but perhaps a bit too clever. This one reads a bit stilted compared to your other poems. My guess is that parts of the poem seem a bit archaic to me languagewise, but other parts are more modern. You might want to make the poem's language remain old-fashioned throughout:

To know such beauty and never quest
Leaves an empty space within my breast.

(Breast is the more old fashioned way to say chest.)

Then again, my poetic license was yanked years ago because of DWI (Dabbling While Inept.) ;-)

LOL.. well.. I do have an affenity for breast so am surprised I didnt come up with that myself. Thanks for the suggestions, I really do appreciate all that you all offer.
