Violence is the title, I was a little sickened by the news today after they found that little girls body. I just dont understand how you can take something so small and turn into something so destructive. Sad isnt it, how humans creative little minds find someway to destroy beauty instead of creating it. 100% Bryce, No post work, No Lights. The image was done at Premium 36 Rays, 1350 x 900. It took only 2 Hours on a AMD 1.4. There are 512 bullets in there feel free to count em. Comments and Suggestions welcome as always

That's Cool! How did you make the bullets?

One might think mankind should evolve in 2000 years, but each day, there comes another idiot proving the opposite... I really hope theyll find intelligent life in the galaxy, sure as hell aint any on this planet... Great idea! Must have taken some time to place them... Actually i came to 183, then i lost count... :)

Well, I never watch the news, but I think you're confusing violence with either evil or insanity. Personally, I love fictionalised violence in films and books and art, as long as it's "wholesome!" Film 4 Extreme came up trumps tonight, with "Once Were Warriors" followed by "Chopper" - excellent double-bill! And the picture? "All I know is what Vic told me, man, said the place turned into a f#cking bullet festival. He took a cop hostage just to get the f#ck out of there." - Eddie, Reservoir Dogs

Ok Tuttle then you are Mr. Pink Thanks for the comments all. I Made the bullets in Bryce then multi-replicated them.

I like it. Maybe if you are trying to communicate a message, place a meaningful image or scene in the backgorund.

2000 years? Try 6000 years as there was also a B.C.E. And mankind will never, not ever get better on his own. It will require God's intervening to set things right. Paul -- Jer. 10:23 Rev. 21:3,4

Interesting image. Civilization is a very thin veneer, the baser instincts are still there. But sometimes there come individuals who through a qirk in makeup allows them to give in to the more vile and hideous things hidden in the minds of men...

I met an alien once and he said he had been searching for the meaning of human life for 2 months and couldn't find out. He said he saw people hurting and killing each other and he couldn't understand the reason of all that. So he asked me why we do it. I told him that I didn't know and he should better come back in another 2 million ears, because maybe we then know how to live wih each other in peace. 8P

A simple street scene in the background with some blue sky. Could pass for Magritte.

First thing that came into my mind was the matrix. The shot where the bullets are dropping from the helicopter. Can't wait for sequel. Nice work. TT.

I don't believe in god, I believe in humanity. Things might not be all to great now, but I truly think we have advanced quite a bit in the short time humans have existed. As all the continents are slowly getting more and more dependant on one another war will keep getting less likely. More and more nations are becoming democracies. In a few centuries war might be a thing of the past.

great image btw ;)

Thanks to Zhann I am thinking of changing my name. Thank you all for your imput, I am glad it made you think.

Erlik ( ) posted Sun, 06 October 2002 at 2:42 PM

Really great pic in an abstract or warholian sort of way. I'd only put a bit darker background. But if you want something different, try changing it into a rain of bullets over people.

When I saw it I didn't think of violence. I thought of hunters, cops, maybe another day in the ammo factory. IMO there's more to violence than the weapon used, whether it be a gun, knife, club or even words ... it's the mind behind it.

Zhann ( ) posted Mon, 07 October 2002 at 12:46 AM

You have the right to any name you like, it was not a dispersion on you, but vile does have bad connotations, but please don't change it because of the post...:|

No worries Zhann I have been Vile here for some time but only as a handle. ;) Geez is it going on 3 years now (Thursday, December 16, 1999) ? I was meaner back then I have since mellowed out.

I like the image also. I immediately thought of someone opening a box of ammunition and dropping it. Guess I won't be making the 6 o'clock news as a violent criminal. ;) Why do people commit violence? IMO it's because they can't think clearly about what they are feeling. If you are in pain and you focus on hurting someone else, you don't notice your own pain. Maybe that sounds too simplistic to some people, but carrying out violence is as much a distraction from pain as drink, drugs, overeating, sex, shopping and watching TV. Lin

Very insightful! I really did not want to portray violence, so much as find an outlet for my anger at the events in Washington. And now a 13 year old boy

events in Washington ... now there's a whole different can of worms ...

shadowdragonlord ( ) posted Mon, 07 October 2002 at 8:30 PM

In an attempt to be objective, historically speaking violence is the force of Change in society. Without it, we would face decay and lack of growth, as the gene pool would be taken over by the peaceful elements. Without it, we would have never triumphed over the world's trials and tribulations, be they storms or volcanos or predatory animals. I speak hypothetically, and I would never condone useless violence, nor do I condone the loss of innocent life. But change is necessary for growth, and we will all die one day. Well, most of us... (Bill Gates is a cyborg!)

shadowdragonlord ( ) posted Mon, 07 October 2002 at 8:31 PM

(doesn't mean to offend anyone, except Gates of course!) (is a hypocrite, because he uses Win 98!)

Zhann ( ) posted Tue, 08 October 2002 at 1:36 AM

Peace is not always stagnation, if there is peace and cooperation, pooling of resources (intellectual and well as tangiable) what great heights might humans achieve...(although overpopulation would put us into Soylent Green status)...
