For shorthairs I think 2 cats would do - an oriental (siamese) type and a cobby (British Shorthair) type. The body and head types of the two are different enough that you probably would want to do two different cats. But the current poser cat does look like a real cat - if that real cat is Mimi. :-)

The domestic short hair would work for me. I have a bunch of close ups of my three cats that I could make textures with and the P4 cat just doesn't cut it. I'm hoping whatever you produce will allow frontal views of the head. A morph from kitten to adult would be nice too.

PLease give it a fat morph for those cats who, um, aren't into excercise and very into their 9-lives! I'll ditto the articulate eyes and whiskers and you'll need a tongue that can curl...unless you break down and make the Millenium Tongue to go with the Millenium Teeth. I've got Digiport's tongue (from BBay) and it's pretty cool. If you could do an add-on for the mouse--while we're talking--that opens the mouth and closes the eyes--well, not at the same time!--that'd be great! Now, about the dog...

Dave-So ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 11:11 AM

Ahhhh.reprive :) dog and 4 birds...NO CATS (whisper) LOL... my dog loves to chase them..they're scary animals...look cute, but have them nasty big long fangs, tempermental, finicky, slitted eyes, unpredictable...hairball spitting creatures.... plus they make me sneeze... And they eat birds...let alone those little mice guys.. OK...Anton...make a nice dog...there's already an elephant to entertain the mouse. NO NO >>>>Don't hurt me !!!!..../OUCH...those flames are hot...stop already

Make a real cat and a real kitten and I'll buy both. (Give me a release date and I'll be hitting the Refresh button every five minutes until it shows up!) The short haired tabby cat would probably be the safest to start with. I think it would be the easiest to morph into several varieties. Here kitty, kitty, kitty ... (Though I'm not a dog person, I wouldn't mind a real dog model as well.)

Attached Link: Mr. Winkle

Woof. A real small dog would be nice. The one in Poser is a largest dog with a long muzzle. But a number of dogs have round little heads and short legs, and either no tail or tails that curl over their backs. Cats should be easier because most share a certain body similarity (most, not all), but dogs have been designer bred into huge variations of size and appearance. Do a Chinese Crested and a German Shepherd look like the same species to you? A Mr. Winkle would be fun. The mouse would love to have a Mr. Winkle to play with.

dialyn ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 11:25 AM

Ahem...need to proof. That should be "largish" not "largest." Ugh.

Anton_ if you haven't got it, a good starting place is the excellent little Dorling Kindersley handbook on Cats by David Alderton_ its got pics of about every possible cat you are ever likely to see_ plus a few that I'm sure you'd have to travel to Mars to see! (try the Sphynx on p178!) There's a good section at the beginning on face shapes etc. Anyways if you're gonna have a go I'm going to give up on my project to remodel and remap the P4 kitty_ a new millenium cat would be far more preferable! Good luck!

hmatienzo ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 12:19 PM

Now -that's- a dog, LOL!!!! Wow, he'd be taller than me... but that's no surprise because everyone is taller than me. (grumbles) Actually, the dog-favoritism doesn't work for me since my shephard thinks all 110 pounds of him are kitten... Amusing my REAL cat to no ends!

I'd like a cat that can turn in to a little furball of a dog ;-) Kind of like this..........

Momcat ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 6:46 PM

Is that a plushie, or a Westie puppy?...Or is it a Westie plushie? ...hard to tell with those little balls of white terr(i)er fluff >^_~ I second thatidea, but I don't think the bone structure is right...though they could use the base figure and do like they did with Stephanie I guess. I'd loveto see a little dog figure too. I've got a Dachshund along with my two kitties.

rain ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 7:02 PM

It's a toy plushie ;-) We live in an apartment and that's the only kind of dog we're allowed. A stuffed one LOL.

mystic, ROFL! That's telling you! ;-)

Lunaseas ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 7:58 PM

Tell Reba that's she great for passing on the suggestion for the cat or dog!! I think you start out with a basic adult short hair cat, give it some a few good morphs....especially on the eyes and eyes and I think you'd have something very versatile...that I would snap up in a second!!!

Well, someone with my handle certainly can't skip over a thread like this without sharing my baby...she's now about 11 weeks old, this shot was at 7 weeks... Anton, one thing to keep in mind I didn't see mentioned elsewhere: a cat's ears can rotate at the base, like little radar dishes. They seem to be most reactive to the sounds of can openers and dry food bags being opened.

Ernyoka, Yup, that's my Charizard...good eye. I'm somewhat of a Pokemaniac...I've got tons of Pokemon stuff, but he's always out somewhere...

Heh I was bitten by the Pokbacilla myself. Even my kids thinks I'm a bit embarassing sometimes. Otoh it gives them great credits when some of their playmates asks about a specific Pokon and I'm able to answer G Oh and my fav Pokon is Charmander G so Charizard was easy to spot. just waiting for Ruby and Sapphire now...

Regarding the Siamese* body and head type: It should be noted that the body type of this breed has been radically altered since it was first introduced to the West. The current typical "show" breed looks utterly nothing like the original Siamese purebreds that came to the West in the 1800s. The original breed standard is still preserved by some breeders. Information on these conformations can be found at the following: http://www.meezer.com/siambreed1.html http://www.oldstylesiamese.com/ http://members.lycos.co.uk/TSCA/3a.html http://www.travelswithtigger.com/fanciers/trad-siamese-faq.html Some "professional" breeders who specialize in one variant or the other take hatred of the variant they don't raise to fetishistic heights. Most Meezer lovers understand that the personality matters every bit as much as a mere "breed standard". *To be more precise, the term "Wichien Maas" better pins down the specific breed. there are no less than six distinct pure breeds that could be legitimately considered "Siamese", as in "developed in an native to old Siam". The others are the "Khao Manee" (a pure white breed), the "Ninlarat" (a pure black breed), the "Kao Taem" (a white breed with black spots), the "Thon Daeng" (called "Burmese" in the West), and the "Sisawat" (called "Korat" in the West). Claims regarding the use of the Wichien Maas as guard animals or breeding them to hold jewelry upon their tales are the stuff of Snopes. Nothing other than folklore holds these claims. Unfortunately, encyclopedia authors are very often not in the least bit careful when checking their "facts".

A short-hair seems the best 'generic' sort to go for. I don't mind as long as it's not so demanding on the system that the PC crashes on me, but please- don't forget the claws! Ears that can actually twist and lay flat properly would be wonderful, and nice eyes (eyes compatible with the various add-on eye props would be cool). Goodie, more cats to do walk cycles for. :) Thanks heaps for this, Anton!
