from my point of view and this is my first post for some time, personal life is taking up most of my free time at the moment, we are hosting foreign language students for the summer (4 in total) so what time isn't spent working or sleeping is pretty much taken up by looking after and cooking for the teenagers.

I'm still working on some projects, but from spending around 20 hours plus per week on modeling a couple of months ago, I'm actually down to around 30 minutes a day, and not everyday lol.........

Freestuff is actually what led me to rendo in the first instance way back in the last century ;) and I will continue to contribute to it, whatever I can, when I can, in whatever ID I happen to be wearing at the time.......LONG LIVE FREE STUFF or as they used to  say when I first joined ...........diu liberi effercio

There's one thing for certain, I have a new respect for texture makers, not that I had no respect before you understand, but at first glance it's just a picture, errrr with many, many layers Mahoney, to all intents and purposes that "simple" texture map is going to make or break your model. I've decided to go the "hand made" route for my texture map, pretty much because I haven't the technical knowledge to create all my own procedurals from scratch, however the option of a good selection of mat zones then gives the end user plenty of scope to use more complex shaders should they wish. I also discovered the "fun", hours of joy?, that getting a Good UV  map entails, closely followed by weeks of texture shopping, rebuilds, remaps,reshop, re render, rebuild, remap ad infinitum...Lets do it again   LOL

I'd just like to point out for the record, that i have never discussed Justin Bieber (allegedly), I have never used chat for critique or opinion, sorry I meant to say I will never use chat to gain opinion from image borrowing trolls , with delusions of grandeur. Just my opinion, cut and paste, geesh I thought all that sorta drama ended with the death of excite chat in around 2003.................

i guess the problem is, when a user enters chat with the specific intention of capturing images that are posted in there for WIP's critique , storing said images for their own "personal use" and then preaching about how to issue DCMA's should your copyright be infringed, it starts to feel like an uninvitng place to hang out...just my opinion

it should work but all you have to do is save the obj file as a prop in the prop library, delete the obj file and load the new prop file, then carry on where you left off.

I would follow a few of the silo basic box modelling tutorials, and try to create initially just one prop to use in your scene, A nice moulding would be a good starter project and needs very basic skills to undertake, but don't underestimate a simple model. It's textures will only be as good as the UV map attached to it, sometimes a PIG to get right on a simple prop. Build your room one piece at a time, be happy with each bit before moving on to the next and you will pick it up in no time.  My tuppence worth.......

Ah well look on the bright side, If everyone finished everything they had started before moving on to the next project, we'd have nothing to moan about :) Guilty as charged your Honor. In my defence I have to say the voices made me do it ............

a dynamic sci fi style boiler suit for M4 :)

being a cheapskate with a limited budget, I have found the beta version of carrara 8.5 is pretty good for rendering poser animated scenes. The lighting needs adjusting and poser dynamics don't work , but on the whole pretty decent rendered results.

additionally, thinkcooper has promised a webinar in the near future to show Poser animators how to get the best from Poser animation. Obviously it won't be all encompassing but it does show that SM are listening to us. Waits patiently for the next negative post :)
