You had to sign up about a month ago on Corels website. I signed up but I guess wasn't chosen. They don't tell you that you weren't they just say "that if you are picked they will contact you", but if your not..?? well you just have to wonder I guess.

Thread: New Bryce Challange!! | Forum: Bryce
I always think the challenges should state if you can use post touch up or not... Sometimes I think its neat what can be done after the fact but that really isn't the software, and making the software you are using do the work or you for that matter is important to me. So I guess the question is can it be imported to something else for touch up or just Bryce by itself..

Very cool looking, love the intro screen.. The only thing I guess I don't care for is the multi windows, I like them to open in the same screen not spawn another window. Other then that looks great.

You need to click on the bottom of that screen and "add" or "import" the image. Just click and then browse to the file location and open it.

Sorry if you got the idea that I was refering to his video card as causing Bryce to have problems.. Bryce doesn't care what card you have for rendering, the only thing that effects is onscreen update or display information. Yes Windows does choke with a large object like that. I am curious what you mean by "scale it down within Bryce" If you render to disk it shouldn't care?? Explain if you can, thanks.

I am gonna start a new Post for this.. Anyone looking to do a good test in real world application email me and I will get you the file to render.. Takes about 30mins to a few hours depending on your machine.. Doesn't matter how fast or slow your machine is all we want is real world specs and then we will post them.. The new Post will be called "Take the Challenge" Thanks and see you there.

Ok here we go.. No Bryce does a great job at rendering scenes, although a bit slow..hehe. You may be having a driver issue on your computer.. Check and make sure you update to the latest drivers.. DirectX 8.0, OpenGL drivers for you card, things like that. Also a thing you might try is to rerender the scenes that you know looked good and see what happens, do they look the same or worse. Once they are done save them and look at the two pictures on a different machine. If they are truly different...?? I got no idea why, the rendering engine should not be effected by the machine its on good or bad, the only thing that will make a difference will be the speed it renders. Hope that helps.
Thread: Newbie asking for opinions. | Forum: Bryce
Well if that is your first scene.. I think you should continue with what you are doing, and end up working for Pixar or someone. Very Very good for a first scene in my opinion, almost to good.

The only thing I have seen that helps Bryce with render time and working on screen seems to be Proc speed and memory. I was working on a AMD k62 450 with 256megs and went to a Celeron 533 with 256megs. The one picture I used as a test went from 47 mins 38seconds to 14 mins 9 seconds. I now have gone to a 800 PIII with 768 megs, and only went down to 9 mins 11 seconds. So I pulled the memory out down to 256 and no change to mention in time. Now I overclocked it to 1 gig and added the memory back in, went down about 30 seconds in render time. I think a lot has to do with how many calculations your CPU can handle and at a certain point I don't think memory has anythng to do with it anymore. I am currently running a new test between my 1gig PIII and an Athlon 1.2 gig with 256 megs. I will if you are interested post the results. That is my experience hope it helps you a little.. Oh by the way I was running a Voodoo 3 3000 on the AMD and went to a Elsa Geforce 2 MX when I made the change to the Celeron.

I agree with the fantasmic.. The head looks ok to me though, his monitor may be set to dark. If anything maybe a little more transparent on the fire, but thats all I can see. Great job!!

Its under the file button at the top.. go down to "import object" browse to the file and click on it. Poser you can do the same thing but I think something good for you to read is the link I have included. Hope that helps.Thread: Outline of sphere showing with lightning | Forum: Bryce
The volumetric materials will follow the shape if applied to something like a sphere. I used them in one picture that I did and stretched them out to loose the form of the sphere, that seemed to correct the problem of seeing lines. Sometimes we (artists) see stuff that other people wouldn't see because they don't know its there. We see the line because we know that we used, ie.. a sphere or box or whatever, and know where its at in the picture.
Thread: Need help with camera Motion | Forum: Bryce
Yes you can, but a better way I have found is to have it track an object instead of moving it itself(camera).. Like moving or animating a sphere the sphere will be invisible and set the camera to track it. Makes for a smoother animation also, because you can have the camera correct its perspective relative to the sphere. Hope that helps.
