The Home version of Windows XP does not have a native backup/recovery software built in. I had to buy a package to use with my HP Tape drive. Still I have never put it to the test. I would like to have a second backup to the first. I was thinking of burning some CDs but the backup package does not have that capability. What is a good program for backing up on CDs? Thanks

You can edit the BVH files using a text editor. This lets you see the body part names. You can get the body part names from Poser of your character. That lets you see any differences (upper and lower neck) versus just neck. You can even change the BVH file. It is possible to screw that up and the BVH file is unusable. However, even if you get the names to jive, the joint parameters vary for the different characters and from the model which wore the motion sensors. The scaling features with PPP and Poser 5 helps but you still have to work on the result.

I am using Earthlink's TotalAccess which doesn't seem to recognize Extensible Markup Language (XML) which is alternative to HTML. I tried copying it to a text file but the XML part would not copy. I can see the encoded text when I use the View Source Message but I can't seem it to copy over to a flat text file. I have a message in to Reiss Studio's support group but it is the weekend so I probably won't hear from them until Monday.

When I viewed the message source, I could see that there was a lot of characters that were not visible on the message. I believe that you are right about the XML format thing. Thanks!

Get the arm into the position you want it in in the first frame. Let walk designer do its thing and then select and delete the the keyframes in the animation palette for the body parts involved beyond the first frame. Walk designer assumes that the arms swing. You might be able to break the link in the IK chain and reattach it afterward but I don't know how to do that.

Most of the poser bvh files are designed for poser 4.0 standard characters. Even the poser bvh files won't work with the characters you will probably want to work with. There is a difference in the naming conventions between standard bvh and poser bvh files. It is the shoulders and necks that are usually out of synch. Also, since there are no motion sensors on the fingers, the hands have to be done with hand poses. There is a new utility called Motion Corrector v1.0 in the marketplace. Minsk makes it and it cost $50.00. I thought about buying it but decided to wait until someone else tried it and recommended it.

What I suggested earlier does work if you have the material editor and work on the materials in the head. There is a transparency factor that you set to one. This doesn't take it out entirely. The flesh tones show up. To overcome this, you have to create a new node on the diffuse color and insert a 2d image map which matches the background image. Choose a color in the color swatch that matches the background color most closely. You have to do this for skin head and skin scalp. The lips appear as disembodied and don't blend with the wall though. You can set the parameters for the eyes to be visible which makes it kind of bizarre.

There was an earlier post by Jaager in response to "Problem with V# - PBMCC_X dials". What Jaager suggested was to start with the V3 Character from scratch and delete all of the morphs, save the CR2, and apply a utility called InjectionPoseBuilder(Sold by DAZ) on it. This creates a pose (PZ2) file with only the dials you want. Then you delete the CR2 character and apply the pose file to the original character. Jaager said that it worked under certain circumstances, like only one Vicky character file in the whole thing. (This may have been due to the crosstalking problem in Poser 5 when you have more than one Victoria. Curious Labs may have fixed this with their service release.) I don't for sure. You need to read the archived message for yourself. Jaager also suggested that if you have favorite characters, you can try saving them as full body morphs. You then save them into V3Blank using MM4 (whatever that is). I don't know if V3Blank has fewer polygons but if it does and it accepts the Pose file created by InjectionPoseBuilder, then we could have multiple Vicky characters. I purchased the utility and I am trying to figure it out. In theory, it sounds promising.

What you might try is to make every material in Vicky's head transparent except for the lips material. you set the parameters for the other body parts to not be visible. You could then animate the mouth using your Vicky character. The wall would be a background image that you imported. What would be great is if you could have the wall distort around the lips. You might try assigning the same background image to the skin of the head. I don't how to do this. If you can't assign it, then the lips will appear to be disembodied.

Frankly, I don't understand how the injection/removal process works. All that I want to do is to create mutilple characters off of Victoria 3 and be able to have more than one of those open at one time. If I want to refine one of those characters, then I want to be able to add new morphing dials. I don't want what I do with one of those characters to affect the others. If I save a character, I want to be able to reopen it with the same morphing dials that I closed it with and the dials set correctly. I don't want to see extra dials. The Victoria 3 character and the inject/remove morphing packages is a good concept but it might be too much for Poser 5 to handle. I bought the Injector Pose Builder from DAZ to see if it will help. Thanks for all the advice!

I have installed the Service Release 1.1 for both the body and the head morph packages. These are the most recent releases shown on the DAZ website. The version number of Poser 5 is correct. I think that it is just a matter of waiting for the cursor to change from hourglass to arrow and using Dialcleaner on it periodically. From DAZ's description of the morphing dials, it sounds like it should be fast since injecting the dials only adds a few lines of code.

There is one place but it cost $115 and is in 3ds format. It is www.its-ming.com. It is definitely cartoony.
Thread: problems with injection poses in the V3 male morph pack | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have had problems with a number of those morph injection packages. If I get too many of them injected at one time, the dials don't work. If I remove them and just inject the ones I actually want to work with, the dials then work. There is no error message but everything seems to stop and the menu bar is grayed out.
