Thanks a lot for that, diolma. I'm really going to have to go through what AntoniaTiger said carefully, because I've never done anything like this before. I always avoided fiddling with the math node before. ;) This is really cool information.

Well, he did say,
Quote - but now it makes my ie browser close down.
And I admit, I missed the "ie" the first time. Such tiny font. :p
Thread: Dark skin, pale palms | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Never knew it bothered anybody else, thought that was just me. For now, I'm stuck Photoshopping a lighter pair onto the texture with the darker skin;Â but once it's done the first time, I have that for future uses.
I have never seen, as a matter of fact, brown palms in my entire life. Unless they were really dirty. lol

Would be great to have separate zones for this. I ended up Photoshopping fairer palms onto a texture map with brown skin.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, just wondering if you tried to access it via a different browser.

Thread: Library icons - How to do this? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Okily dokily. I am so slow tonight! 3:20 am... anyHOO
Sorry in advance about linking to the picture files vs. posting them here. Some were quite long, and I didn't know a better way to do this. Besides making thumbs that link to the large images, but I'm so sleepy! lol
All links will open in a new window. : )
To create custom icons for your Poser library folder:
Go to your Poser 6 folder / Runtime / ui
Find the file called "27100_library.psd" inside the ui folder. Make a backup of that .psd file to be safe.
In a Graphics program that can handle layers, open the .psd file. The original file will look like this.
There are a 22 layers in this file. We will only deal with 9 of them. Note the layers inside the red bracket, these layers contain the images you see on your Poser library. You'll also note that they have been logically named, (i.e., "27158_materials_hi" is the materials tab, etc.).
Find an image you want to represent Figures. Before you drag (or copy) that over to the psd file, you might want to clean up the background that your figure icon will be placed upon.
I took the eyedropper to sample the color of the circle and used a brush to color over it. Like so.
6. Drag your figure picture over to the psd file. Resize it as necessary. Be aware that if your image overlaps the tab lines, the tabs will appear to 'separate' in Poser, and you'll see white lines between them. Easily remedied, though, if you saved your altered psd file before merging any layers.
8.After you're completely satisfied with your new tabs, save the .psd file under a new name (do not give it the name for the Poser 6 library file). This file you just saved doesn't have to be inside the Poser folder, it is just an unmerged backup.
Now, merge your own icons with the appropriate layers. In this example, I have my own icon (the "figures" layer) above the Poser 6 figures tab layer ("27150_figures_hi"). Then I merged my icon layer into the 'official' figures layer. You will need to merge all your icons into their accompanying tab layers as well.
Save the final .psd file as "27100_library.psd", inside the Poser 6 / Runtime / ui folder.
If, when you open Poser, you happen to have that 'stretching' of the tabs with white lines between them, just reopen your saved, unmerged psd file and resize the offending custom icons. lol. And don't forget, you still have the ORIGINAL .psd file backed up, so you can always restore that if you wish.
I really hope this was clear, I never stay up this late. lol
If there's something that isn't understood, do let me know. : )
And btw, credit to the peeps who deserve it... These are the sources I used for my icons:
Figures = Cleopatra by Olivier Vinet (Daz gallery)
Poses = png file from Victoria 3 Dynamic Pose Construction Set (Daz)
Expression = Expressions of Love by Renarts (Rendo store, promo pic)
Hair = png file from Firebirdz's ROAR! for GLH (Rendo)
Hands = png file from Poser 6 (?) not sure (sorry!)
Props = Treasures of Egypt (Daz)
Light bulb = from a google search (lol)
Materials = ICM's award winning design for Rendo's logo contest (y'all should know that)

Do you mean those other things like the face, the light bulb, etc.? I did that in Photoshop and stuck that file back into the Poser 6 / Runtime / ui folder. And when I open Poser, I see ONE of those icons at a time. I'm asking for help about how to get them to simultaneously appear.
As of now, the only one that shows up is the one that has been selected. ACK! I know there's a way to do this!!
Thread: Poser Magnets | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, Phil, magnets and I have a history. A bad one. LOL! I have only been able to use them successfully after fiddling and guessing for lengthy periods of time. I usually have tried to use them for clothes fixes like something tearing, and once to correct something on a character's face. But it was almost always difficult.
I viewed your tutorial and then I understood why it had been so painful. My problem was with the zones. I knew that everything inside the zone would be affected; but I never knew until watching your video that I could change its appearance. When the zone is just a white ring, it can be much harder to judge how much of the area is actually inside the zone. So thank you for that.
Another thing was something I'm kinda embarrassed to admit, but I'm going to say anyway. I thought (until watching your video), that I had to have the magnet itself smack dab against whatever it was going to alter. lol, I feel so stupid just saying that. So I would spend lots of unnecessary time maneuvering the magnet base so that it was just about kissing whatever I was trying to change. But we'll keep that between us.
As for how frequently I use them, I have "resorted" to them quite often, but always with a grimace. "Oh. I'm going to have to use a magnet!" And then I knew it was going to be a bad day. LOL! I love what magnets can do, and now that I have seen your tutorial, you have relieved me of quite a burden. So glad to know I can eliminate those extra steps, and that the zone issue is easily solved.
Thanks for that, Phil !

I knowed it!! I knowed it!! lol I had to do quite the dance finally tracking down 9841007's homepage a few times. I thought, "Guess it has something to do with it being all numbers?"
Didn't know I was on the right track, though. And silly, I never thought to report it! I thought it was just a fluke on my end somehow. Glad it came up.

Quote - Every time I start a new thread, I back out to the forum and see that my new thread has already had "2 views".
Who viewed in the few seconds between hitting the "Create Thread" button and me being back in the forum???
I had to laugh when I read this, because the same thing happened to me quite often at another forum. I used to wonder, "Who viewed?? (and more importantly), what kind of connection do THEY have??"
lol

Thanks, nruddock. :) I can get popups from any other site I visit. I'll check and see if there's anything else I can do.

I'm curious. Is anyone able to download ANY of the readme files from Curious Labs? All the Poser downloads have a nearby note, "Read Before Downloading". Yeah. Would be nice if I could. I've clicked those links in IE and Firefox. nothing
