There's also a couple of converters that will convert .duf to obj, if some reason you can't or don't want to install DAZ Studio.
The main issue i've run into is that DS allows layered garments. A dress with an attached petticoat, say. With Poser, they have to be two separate objects to work right. Though the sim will usually still run, there will be pokethrough.

I actually find it a lot harder to convert content to new figures than to use the weightmapped versions of older ones.
Of course, that's because other people have created the weightmapped versions for me. But once you have those installed, adjusting clothing is easy. I just copy joint zones. The results, IME, are much better than converting clothing to other figures. Morphs and textures don't need to be converted.
If I had more skills, it might be different, but as it is...converting clothing really doesn't work well for me. Even with helpers like Wardrobe Wizard or Crossdresser, the results generally don't look that great.
And converting textures is a huge headache. With a weightmapped version of an older figure, you can still use all the characters created for the older figure. Those can't easily be converted to a new figure.

I don't think Xurge is doing stuff for Poser any more, though he's still selling the stuff he made before. He hasn't even posted to Twitter in years.
At this point, it would be tough for any new figure to match V4 and M4 for versatility, just because they have such huge backlogs. Especially if you need less popular stuff, like ethnic characters, older characters, normal clothes, etc.
However...you might take a look at Dawn 2 when she appears. Some of the ethnic characters Cath has made for her look stunning.
Dawn 2 has been delayed by various events, including Cath getting covid, but hopefully she'll be available soon.

Let me know when either LF or LH have a week's worth of clothing that could be worn to the office."The reality is that most vendors are only interested in making stuff that they are personally interested in - and that seems to be nothing but stuff for pin up art."
I can't talk about the other vendors, but this is VERY not true for me. I make stuff that I see a gap in the market for (like clothing basics for figures that lack them, characters with diversity, everyday hair etc) or things that seem to sell more (sexy stuff). If it were only about my personal intersts, I'd make nothing but fantasy all the time.
We still don't have that.
Yes, even a lot of "normal" clothing is sexier than I would wear to the office. Low cut, falling off the shoulders, super short skirts, etc. If I see clothing that my mom might wear in public, I buy it, because there's really not much of it.
I assume most people want the pinup stuff, but I wonder if there's a way to do both. Trans maps, say, so you can make necklines or skirt lengths more modest. Though I guess trans maps don't work as well with dynamic clothing.
One thing I really liked about the G2 figures was the ethnic variations. Basically a different head on the same body. I thought the results were more natural looking than trying to morph a European face to look Asian or African. Especially when it came to expressions. The other elephant in the room is dialing out the base look of LF or LH - it is as bad as the SM G2 figures.

I like fantasy and SF. Especially clothes normal people might wear. People who aren't built like 20 year old supermodels.
Not that I have anything against 20 year old supermodels. I just have enough stuff for them.

I think AI might catch up enough to do graphic novels eventually. They're already using AI to write stories (one thing the screen writers are striking over). But it will be awhile, so I kinda like the idea.
Smith Micro might have been in a better position to take that tack than Bondware is. They have bunch of graphics software, including some like Manga Studio, meant for making graphic novels.

I'm also a diehard Poser user, but nothing lasts forever. I think this AI stuff is going to be a paradigm shift not just for Poser and DS, but for all artists and other creatives.
Aside from that...not sure there's a way out. I think a lot of Poser users have gotten used to really low prices, since so much Poser stuff is "legacy" and available at a deep discount. So even if a vendor makes a new Poser product, customers might not be willing to pay much for it.
Me, I still use V4 and M4 because there's so much stuff available for them. I use others, too, and I like LF fine, but there's so little available for her compared to V4. I don't always want to render a white college girl on date night.

Yeah, I don't think that's possible.
P3DO Explorer will display the thumbnail associated wtih a CR2, and can convert out of date formats like RSR and BUM to jpg/png, but I don't see how CR2 to jpg would even work.

I, too, would love some new child figures or morphs. Baby Luna covers babies and toddlers, and there's some pre-teen female characters, but not much for boys, or lower elementary school age kids.

Yes, this sounds like the batch file hasn't been run. You need to run it when you install Poser or M4, or when you install new morphs.
This is a DAZ thing, not a Poser thing.

You might try downloading from the web site instead. (You'll have to put in your serial.)

Or just try again later. It looks like some downloads worked, so maybe they're having server issues or something. FWIW, I downloaded everything from inside Poser and it worked, though it took awhile.
