PS on the download page they say "Use the (Text Links) to Download these files directly to your own computers HardDrive. Each file take about - 4 to 5 Mins. to Download" though
Thread: Free demo?? | Forum: Bryce
ooooohhh, I see what you mean - they've broken the download into 14 zips of 1.38MB each :| Are they trying to force people to sign up for FreeLoad IT?

Minty - I don't understand what you mean. It's 19MB, so you have to save it to your hard drive.
Thread: Son of a Winged tramp.... | Forum: Bryce
"If this guy made a model using your tutorial as a 'guide', made it in Wings on his computer, it's his model, his copyright, and he can name it what he wants or sell it as long as it doesn't use a name 'you' gave it(marketplace name recognition)...." IMHO there's a difference between using a tutorial as a guide, and using someone else's design. Draculaz owns the copyright to the design no matter what, and it doesn't matter whether he's registered it or not. But now that it's sorted it's probably not worth losing any more sleep over. I once walked into a pub and found myself surrounded by badly-cast versions of my work (the mouldmaker had made a copy of the mould for himself). I had so much hassle that I gave up in the finish - the pub-owner blamed the architect, the architect blamed the prop-buyer, the prop-buyer blamed the supplier, the supplier blamed the mould-maker, and the mould-maker said "$*&% off, what are you going to do about it?!" 15 years later they're still there, now I just avoid the pub :( Erlik - yeah, it might be trivially easy for YOU to remove, but I suspect that people who steal models don't even know that you can open the file in a text editor. Another idea (though it sends up the polycount) is to put a copyright mark in the mesh, as described above, and somewhere on the texture. Viewpoint models are a big problem, there's no way of protecting them, and it's impacted on the sale of the licenses, which are very expensive. Most people genuinely don't understand the whole copyright issue - they trot out stuff like "It's for educational purposes" "It's in the public domain" "That's so simple anyone could have done it, it's a coincidence". Again, I've had magazines photographing my work, not crediting me, charging me for a copy of the photograph, and telling me that if I use it I'll have to pay royalties to the guy who took the photo!! rant rant rant

The great thing about Bryce is the presets - you can sneak your way into the program, and months later it starts to dawn on you that you got to understand things like the terrain, sky and texture editors without conscious effort. Make use of the presets, and once you're used to them start tweaking cautiously :)

Stoopid question - with XP, how do you choose the restore point? I had problems when I first got this pc (I tweaked what I shouldn't have, because I was so exasperated by how slowly folders and programs respond!) and eventually had to do a destructive recovery. Couldn't figure out how to do the rollback. Do you need to specify 'save today's specs' every so often?

Like Zhann says re dirt, utility poles etc......also, it would be interesting to have a viewpoint where you can see down the road, for miles and miles of nothingness across a flat plain, with the gas station as the only thing in sight! I kinda like the fact that there's no foliage, and it's all so flat :)

Rochr - do you do concept sketches, or does it develop organically as you model? The bridge looks very much like something that developed from the process of modelling, rather than from a pre-sketch. lol wish now I'd held on to my freebie version of Cinema 4d - threw it away in frustration when I couldn't get it to register, read a solution for the problem on a forum later.
