I just finished a very simple production render in P5, though the size was a bit big (for a poster at 300ppi): 5000x5000pixels. Setup was a simple V3 with skin, 10 lights (from which 7 spots) but no shadows, and that's it. P5 did not crash or freeze, but it took 5hours 37 minutes to render. Task commander showed that half the processor's force was used, and about half the memory (XPPro on PIV3GHz, 2GB DDRam) yet there is no way to do anything else while mrPoser is rendering. My guess: unadapted coding, not up to the demands we now force on the app. Also no internet connection and no virus scanner on the workhorse puter.

Or do you prefer Daz' method? Here you can buy a skin, but you may only see those areas of the body that are considered ok by the MM. I prefer the method used here. I guess it's a trick to be ale to use PayPal after all. No mon, no fun.

there is a very good tutorial on posing over at CuriousLabs. depending on what you want, you can browse the freestuff here and at runtimedna , and try the realdeals at poserpros. you can do a lot with the poser5 people so you don't have to start collecting items immediately. Just see what you lack, and when it hinders your inspiration, you can spend some money. Just never forget that the biggest market for Poser is not the application itself, but the items you buy for it. my suggestion is to start with only one figure and eventually a background behind it (like a wall). First try to get a good pose, then set a good white lighting (shadows)and next add textures and materials. Finally you can evt add colour to some of your lights to create more of an atmosphere.

Dirt: You have Photoshop? (I guess Psp works about the same way). First open a texture in PS and immediately use "save as" to save it under another name so you won't accidentally overwrite your original. Secondly copy to another layer and lower the saturation of this layer1 to some -50 and then darken it a bit with Lightness set to -20. Add a mask, fill mask with clouds, blur the clouds and set blend mode to Multiply to get rather pronounced dirt, or leave at Normal to get less visible dirt. The rest is painting on the mask. To add grain, use noise on yet another layer, add clouds and play with levels or curves on the clouds. etc etc. Then in Poser load that texture and adapt untill it is what you want. Dirt often makes textures less shiny (except oily stains of course), so you may want to lower the highlights in Poser. You can also add plasticWrap to the texture on layer1. One thing I forgot to mention: at the back, you will get a seam. This you will have to work away either in postwork, or if you want to re-use the texture later, on the texmap itself. This is a tedious job, as all texture-creators will affirm. I set "nudity" to avoid the MM's to see how dirty V can be. Hehehe.

It is not a Windows limit. The new AMD processors can handle much more ram. If you get an external HDD -two of eighty is better than one of 160- don't plug it in all the time as that way it'll crash much earlier. Only connect when you want to back up. Keep your old puter for the Internet, and install all protection on that one.. Use a crosslink cable to link both puters. Yet, if you do this, never enter a diskette or a CDRom in your workstation. Always scan first on he protected internet puter.

You can simply check that you don't want to see any nudes, and that's it. Yes, it's difficult to find what you like because there are so many works posted. To have a quick glance through the thumbs and here and there look at a new work takes more than an hour daily. Most people buy items and then use them. R. is a full grown commercial site. No sellings, no galleries. Or would you prefer a pay site? Me, I browse by thumbnails, and if I find something I really like of someone I don't know, I visit the gallery. When I like it, I bookmark it. I do wonder why it's always a bit of nude skin that seems to shock people. The main reason for nudes is triple: 1/ it's much easier than clothes, and 2/ it is, because still seen as a direct road to perversity, mental illness and hell itself, an act of individualism and last but not least, it is the basic drive of life. As long as men like women more that wargames, there is still a very little hope for humanity. Don't forget that sexual frustration is the best way to create good ol' aggressivity, which, in turn, makes good army dreamers. Poser allows many people to act out a psychological state (and there are many healthy and creative states also!). People are over exposed to unhealthy doses of violence, stress, anxiety, depression, unfairness, lies, so it is fully normal that their creations are coloured by that. It's very positive and healing that they can express that. Even if it is not what I like. So ok to impossible breasts as long as I can choose not to click that thumbnail. Same for sadism, fetish, violence, pics of grandchildren, dogs and cats, patriotism, publicity, depression. I choose my what I like and the rest are simply temporal combinations of electronic fields and waves.

Some time ago I also had a problem over there. Mine was with a texture that didn't fit where body and head meet in the neck. It was obvious and clearly visible. After many, many weeks, the artist had been contacted and repaired the problem. But it looked like as if nothing had been done. I compared in photoshop, and the neck hadn't even been touched. I mailed Daz and got an answer back that my standards were very high blahblah and that I could get a refund. And that the item would be removed from the store. The refund was only part of what I paid, and the item is still for sale. Moral of this story: don't expect much help or support. Here at R. you can contact the artist yourself. Over there, they do it for you. As for your item: the P horse is a completely different mesh, so all fitting will have to be done in a 3D app. My guess is that if there are enough people asking for it, it might become commercially interesting to create and sell one. Yet, perhaps there is some good soul who created one in freestuff somewhere?

Then give the option to also check against religious pics; patriotism; snapshots of personal situations like cats, dogs, marriages, kids, grandchildren; cheap violence; fractals; 3D(sorted per app); depression and other life draining pics; publicity for new products, etc etc. Anyone thinking that a nose or a mouth are less offensive than a breast or a pair of buttocks has an bizarre twist of mind.

Well, there are other poser sites and market places. I don't do any fan art (I mostly don't even recognise your American stars and toys) but I've emptied my gallery all the same as I don't want my artworks linked to this "..." anymore. I'm even sorry I agreed to that article in the Magazine some time ago. People who sell exclusively here at R. won't sell to me anymore. This site is dying, and life goes on. Elsewhere.

Nope, not for money, but one of the pests of spyware. It does not install itself from a zip (freebie) butwhen downloading a webpage. No virus scanner will trace it. You need AdAware or Spybot Search|Destroy to find and destroy it. What it does is install itself in the background of your puter and register your surfing habits. You understand this kind of digital tick can get very fat and eat up many system's resources. It may well be that this is a Tripod thing, but I find that Marque did very well to warn about this and I find that, because many people are not aware of spyware and what it does, diviner should be warned hat happens on this site, and the site should be removed from freestuff. Spyware is as bad as viruses. This does not answer though why the domain where he should be reachable seems to be non-existent.
