A great topic. Sometimes people do go overboard with some stuff such as importing, also postwork. I'm guilty of both but who is to say how much is too much? I love postwork but I try not to overwork my Brycies unless it's a postwork study. Yeah, when I import poser into Bryce I try to add as much Bryce element to it as possible, I feel guilty if I don't. Ultimately, Poser characters will ALWAYS be in Bryce galleries simply because people love to view and create with them.
As for the Hot 20, most (but maybe not all) have the skills to be there. I agree about the popularity thing that Rayaz mentioned, I think it's more of a reputation thing though. Rochr, sbleci and artists as such always post superb images and that's part of the reason why they have a big "fan club" I'm definitely one of those fans. I vote for rochr's and sbleci's works 90% of the time cuz they just deserve it. Funny thing is, I was an active member for two months before I noticed/figured out what the voting was for. hehehe. It does feel rewarding that people appreciate your hard work. But personally I think the real reward is the learning process and we usually get that reward before we even post our renders.

I think I'd prefer somewhere between the first and the second. I pesonally prefer the sky in the first one cuz it's colorful, it really depends on what you want. If you want to lessen the color of the any item, use sponge tool in Photoshop, set mode: desaturate. Saturate if you want to increase the color intensity. If you feel the need to postwork the waterfalls, concentrate on the frontmost one. The "floaty look" should be easy to fix with postwork. Maybe a little mist in the bottom would help also. Overall I love the composition. Especially the little waterfalls behind the big one. Really well done. MHO
Thread: Gallery Comments--Why or Why Not? | Forum: Bryce
Many factors but familiarity is definitely one of them. Of course an awesome art is an awesome art, that always deserves a comment. I love looking at other people's works, so why not thank them for giving me such entertainment and leave a freindly comment? Of course time is a factor, I only have dial up too. When I was doing traditional (Drawing/Painting) art, I used to hang out with other artists that support each other. After all, only other artists using the same media can truly have an understanding appreciation of what we do here. I would have stopped rendering long ago if not for the encouragement of other artists. To mention a few: Stefano, linkinpark, and so many who is and have always been a great encouragement and inspiration to me. Lastly, this is what I like most about Renderosity (especially the Bryce community), It's a great place to learn. Go to http://eye.box.sk hehehe, those guys leave brutal and plain hurtful comments especially to us Brycers!

Hi there EYECON sorry to hear that. Nagbabrown out pa rin ba diyan sa atin? Sometimes nakakasira yan especially sa computers. Also ang kuryente sa atin medyo maraming fluctuations. To add to that, the humidity and heat. Ahhhh! I hope you get it fixed. I know how that feels, It happened to my PC a couple of times and I felt like... WOW! I have so much empty time. hahaha. Hang in there and hope your PC comes back to life!

I know Valley College here at dirty old San Bernardino CA has a class in Bryce, but I don't really know just how much you can learn from it. I do agree with shadowdragonlord especially on: "The people making the most money in CGI are the innovators, the one pushing REALLY hard." That's so true! Also there's no escaping 2d art. 3d and 2d coexist interdependently IMO. You just can't have one without the other.

I couldn't resist this topic! I am a IT/Networking junkie who works in a health care facility. hahaha. Employment for IT is so so difficutl here in Southern California. MadDog31, I know exactly how you feel. I finished top in class but the only job I could find was a technician! They need experience and lots of certs, also I can't stand being so "professional", I hate wearing a tie! I am also a college student going for a degree in... ummm I don't know but something in the medical field where the job market is so much better. Yeah I don't really, really like the medical field but I do like(and need) money and stability, so I'm fishing where there's a lot of fish. Other odd past jobs include: fast food (KFC), autoparts warehousing, postal, airport security, child counselor... and others i don't even want to remember right now.

On textures, I'm sure renderosity's free stuff has a lot that are ready for bryce. http://www.mayang.com is also a nice place to get photographic textures. Most of the stuff you need can probably be modelled in Bryce with some patience of course.

At this point I'm not too concerned about beautiful colors of the website, I'm more concerned about the comfort to my eyes. The color scheme suggested above is actually pretty comfortable, I think I'll keep it!

Arrgh! I wish they hadn't changed the background to whitish, it kind of competes for attention when I look at the gallery. Well maybe I just need to get the hang of it. =)

I had a similar situation before, unfortunately the other guy was a close friend of mine, fortunately I succeeded. DO: -Be yourself, that way if she loves you, it's really you and you don't have to put on a show. -Be persistent if you really want her. -Be a good friend, it's a great way to develop attachments and know each other better. -Allow her time to become comfortable with you. -Be funny and easy going even when things go wrong. -Listen to her and Compliment her sincerely. -Make her experiences with you pleasant/good ones. -Compromise! No two people are exactly alike so learn to give and take. DON'T: -Fight the other guy. It works in the movies, but in real life it will end in tragedy. -NEVER give her the impression that you are forcing her or pressuring her. -Talk about yourself too much, give her a chance to desire to know you better. Apparently both you and the other guy want her, the decision is ultimately up to her; and that's what your'e really fighting for: her decision/her love. Well those are just my opinions. They may or may not work for you, but they worked for me. =)
Thread: Is postwork a dirty word? | Forum: Bryce
I completely understand why postwork has to be limited in our Bryce forum contests as it CAN be abused. After all it is a Bryce contest. I don't believe it has to be wiped out completely in the contest. However I do think that one should post work as much as desired in the galleries. I am a firm believer of postwork.
