On my Mac a converted OBJ file will have a PC icon. If the icon for your OBJ is the "generic blank page" then I don't think it is going to work. Run it thru Maconverter again. Then make sure you have placed the OBJ into the Geometries folder and double check that it doesn't want to be an another explicitly named folder. You have a lot of memory but have you assigned it to Poser in Get Info? I routinely run Poser 4 in a 100 MB space. jje

For an easy to use, intuitive modeler look into Amapi I create most of my meshes in it then export them to my rendering application ( Poser, Bryce, Strata). It can import and export a generous number of formats. I have not tried to make body parts with it so I cannot recomend it for that yet. jje
Thread: HELP Mac User--Importing Characters | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Real easy! Download Poser Maconverter 1.1.2 (I think that is the latest). Drag your entire unzipped character folder to Maconverter. Accept the defaults and just hit the Convert button. It will convert everything that needs to be converted no matter how deeply nested (shaken not stired heh). From there its just a matter of moving the files to the right places. The READMEs included usually make it clear where each file wants to go. I keep a Tab of the Runtime folder on my desktop since I'm in and out of that folder a lot. Any other questions? Feel free to drop me a line. 20 years of Apple service gotta be worth sumthin' jje

Interesting effect but here's what I discovered. According to Photoshop the image is 52 pixels tall. Reduce that (retaing proportions) to 51 and her upper lip goes all funny. BUT Reduce the 52pixels (again retain proportions) to 50 pixels tall and I fail to see any deterioration in the image. So is that a "hair too much?" I assume you did a proportional scale rather than one by hand. and you are right she is beautiful. Small is reall hard to do right. jje

Too scary to be funny. The lip sync is wonderful. I wished she blinked though. Gotta go...my machine is calling jje

Awesome! ...and I can't wait to see the one-off story, but...announced in the adult forum?!? At the risk of disiplining an expired equine... we really ought to have a listing somewhere of all the efforts of people with a graphic story bent [as opposed to all the other bent people on this forum :>) ] there's Jack, Ruth, Time Extreme, your efforts, my stuff (yea yea yea R.S.N), um and that other one, and that really wierd one....see what I mean? Maybe someone should take one step forward and volunteer ("Hey Moe, hey Larry get back here") jje

Thread: Is anyone using my Spiral Permed Hair? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I fairly sure I want to use it on a character who will make her first apperance on P5 of the story I am working on. Unfortunately the big push here is to get pps 1-4 assembled and completed this weakend. So I have not had time to do much more than play with it a little on a basic figure. I do love it tho jje

Alas I asked this same question a few months ago. There is none I was given the Zygote chimp for Christmas but....its lacking a lot The only ones out there are the Viewpoint models and even with that I suspect they would have to be taken apart and jointed. I keep looking at that $200 one with lust. I need one about the size of Mighty Joe Young. and joints are essential. jje

Actually it just sounds like a typical Mac problem I run into at least once a month with my customers. The OS gets into a permanent state after an app crash or a telecommunications glitch. Although there are other things you can try the easiest fix is: 1) Reboot off your latest OS CD (8.6 or 9) 2) delete your old System file, Finder and Finder prefs 3) reinstall off the CD the truly paranoid will do a "clean install" but then you will have the contents of your old system folder to deal with. The whole process will take 20-30 mins tops. If it still crashes then the problems goes much deeper. jje

Thread: Another P4 Patch Bug... conforming articles... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've been testing the patch on my office Mac and last night when I brought some work home to my studio (non-patched)Mac I got a message from poser that it had noticed that the version number had changed and that it would "try" and open the model. Nothing bad happened but I thought I would mention it just so people do not get surprised if they transfer models to and from patched/non-patched copies. jje
